Brave and supportive

Dealing with difficult people, especially narcissists, can be one of the most challenging things we have to endure in life. Despite that difficulty, this audiobook helps make sense of the process and gives listeners hope that they can make change in their lives and relationships.

The book starts from a place of solidarity and understanding — the author bravely shares her own challenging experiences with a narcissist and the effect it had on her family. That really helps open things up for listeners and make them feel like they’re not alone in their struggles.

From there, it provides some helpful recommendations and insights for getting past such daunting circumstances and the people involved in them. It’s an eye-opening and compassionate listen from which affected folks will certainly benefit.

Tools I wish I had sooner

For me, it's been much easier to go through life thinking people I believe are narcissists are just bad people, plain and simple. This coping strategy got me through a good chunk of my life, but as I got older and realized sometimes it's not the person's fault for being what they are, coming to terms with their actions got harder.

This book puts into perspective how to take care of your own mental well-being while interacting with narcissists, whether you want to be in their presence or not. Now that I have these tools in my back pocket, I'm confident that I'll be able to take care of myself while giving these challenging people in my life more grace.

Thank you Sydney!

Wish I read this earlier!

I wish I read this book in my early twenties. I spent 6 years of my life in a highly toxic relationship with a narcissist and a pathological liar. All those years I did not understand why I was being lied too, why he did not seem to care the way I cared, it was a very difficult and complicated time in my life. It was not until I finally managed to escape the relationship after a few years of on and off again that I understood that he was a narcissist and what that actually meant for our relationship. I downloaded this book because I wanted to learn how to recognize a narcissist in the future, but it’s done more for me then that. I felt very alone all those years, most of my friends did not understand as they only saw the charming guy I was with, after reading this I feel comforted, I know that I am not alone and it was not my fault. This book has made me feel strengthened, given some good insights and tips how to recognise and deal with a narcissist.. if you believe you may have a toxic relationship in your life I recommend you listen to this book, it may just save you many unhappy and difficult years. Thanks to the author, great book.

Fascinating

I think it's fair to say that most of us have had some sort of close relationship with a narcissist in one way or another throughout or lives, whether that be in a martial relationship or even at work. Learning how to identify that someone is such is the first step at being able to deal with having one in your life. This book expertly lays out what you should be looking for. As easy as it is for someone to say 'just get them out your life', it's not always as easy as that. This book has you covered and really can help as there are tips and tricks (most notably 'the grey rock method') which you can implement which really can help. Highly recommend this book :)

I Loved This Book

I have been lucky to have been in good relationships my whole life. However, I didn't really know what a narcissistic person was until I discovered this book. I now can point out those people in my life and how I feel when I am around them. Most of them are family members that I cannot just get ride of so this book has been a great resource for me in knowing how to cope with them.

A true self-help book!

I can't tell you how much this book had helped me over come past experiences. I am lucky enough to be in a happy marriage with my caring and loving husband but I was in a toxic relationship for a while and it was hard to get over. My family could see it but I couldn't. It took a while but I came out of it and realised just how much of a narcissist he was. This book is amazing as I re affirmed my feelings and reminded me of the signs to watch out for. Besides my own experience, I also really liked the chapters on narcissism in the workplace and in the family. I really well research and narrated audiobook and helped me deal with my past emotions. The free gift is also really useful!

So much wisdom in one book

I am over the moon that I decided to grab this book, not only has it opened my mind to the subtle behaviors I am surrounded by, but more importantly how to deal with them. The grey rock method has been revolutionary for me in overcoming some really tough situations recently. The author is great at explaining things to really give you clarity. I wish I had this book sooner, a necessity for anyone who has or thinks they have a narcissist in their life.

Highly recommended

I am very impressed with what I just learned in this book. I think we all have those types of people at some moment in our life. Therefore I got this book to be prepared for those moments. Not only that, but I also discovered that I had dealt with a narcissist person in so many situations in my life. Usually, being at the workplace, I am ready to survive. Thank you for this audiobook.

Sage wisdom from someone who has been there

My favorites parts of this book are when the author shares little snippets of her life living with a narcissist for 15 years and raising 3 boys with him. Hearing her stories and what she learned from those experiences really lends to her credibility in presenting this information to others facing similar circumstances. I also like that she humanized narcissists rather than villainize then. Too often people are quick to consider the narcissist as evil rather than trying to understand the factors that go into this personality disorder. I felt the author did an excellent job in presenting a balanced view. She didn’t hold back when explaining all the ways narcissists can make your life miserable, but she also didn’t resort to making them evil. If you suspect that you have a narcissist in your life (whether a spouse, parent, child, coworker, etc.), you will benefit from reading this book!

Helpful, Practical, Insightful!

This is a hugely helpful and well-researched read for those unable to avoid the Narcissists in their lives. It focuses on healing and moving forward rather than blame and thus gives the sufferer hope. It provides practical and achievable strategies for coping while building the confidence of the sufferer by letting them know that they are not alone in their struggles. It covers well the Narcissist we may meet in different roles within our lives. An affirming and courage building read. Sydney Koh voices her indepth knowledge of the Narcissist in a relatable and understandable language enabling the reader to benefit from her research into and personal experience of the condition. It is a practical guide that opens doors of revelation into the behaviours of those we love yet struggle to live alongside. I am highly recommending this book to those I meet, who acknowledge they are drowning in the confusion that living with a Narcissist brings.
