Publisher's Summary

WSJ bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a gripping, enemies-to-lovers, secret admirer, high school romance.

The rich and popular Sharks rule at prestigious, ivy-covered Camden Prep. Once upon a time, I wanted to be part of their world - until they destroyed me.

The last thing I expected was an anonymous love letter from one of them.

Please. I hate every one of those rich jerks for what they did to me. The question is, which Shark is my secret admirer?

Knox, the scarred quarterback.

Dane, his twin brother.

Or Chance, the ex who dumped me...

Dear Ava,

Your eyes are the color of the Caribbean Sea.

Wait. That’s stupid.

What I really mean is, you look at me and I feel something real.

It’s been ten months since you were here, but I can’t forget you.

I’ve missed seeing you walk down the hall.

I’ve missed you cheering at my football games.

I’ve missed the smell of your hair.

And then everything fell apart the night of the kegger.

Don’t hate me because I’m a Shark.

I just want to make you mine.

Still.

Not part of any other series. Dark high school romance. Recommended for 18+.

A short excerpt of Dear Ava appeared in Team Player 2. (No longer available) This is an all-new, full-length version.

Very juvenile.

As an adult reader or listener, I found this book extremely boring and juvenile. Almost to the point of quitting it several times. What brought me to the book and ultimately kept me there was the narrator Zachary Webber. That was how I found it in the first place was doing a search for his work. He actually read very little in this book.

Savannah Peachwood & Zachary Webber was amazing! I knew they would be, they are at to top of my list of favorite narrators.
This story of Ava & Knox was love story journey. Beautiful story of faith, patients, letting go, growing. I really enjoyed. Great job Ilsa Madden-Mills as always.

So so good!!!!

Savannah Peachwood is one of my most favorite narrators and I love her version of Ava. Zachary Webber is a new to me narrator, but he really brought Knox to life for me and it was so so good!
I loved this story the first two times I read it, but the audio just upped my love so much

Heart Wrenching Story

This is the first time I’ve listen to an audiobo😁ok from this author. I chose this book because I saw that Zachary Webber was the male narrator and I will listen to almost anything he reads. 😊

The story didn’t start out as original. You have the rich boy and the poor girl who can’t stand each other because they are from different sides of the “train track”. I don’t want to give anything away, but I love this in the fact that we see a broken boy who should have all the happiness in the world because of his status in life. He shows kindness to Ava by defending her despite what it looks like in front of all his friends. She changes him.

This wasn’t a very happy story until you get to the epilogue because the characters deal with so much heartache. There is a part in the book where Knox is dealing with his brother that breaks your heart. The author really pulls you in during that scene and if you’ve ever dealt with somebody who has battled with depression and drugs, you will understand the pain.

This book is not recommended for anyone younger than 18 because deals with issues of rape, drugs, suicide, and depression.

So Good!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 🖤💜🤎💚💛
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌍🌍
Character development: 😍😕🙃☺️🤩

The heroine: Ava Harris (a.k.a Tulip) - Scholarship student at Camden Prep. Ava wakes up in the woods after a bonfire party with a hangover and the realization that she has been brutally raped and left in the woods. She returns to school ten months later for her senior year determined to find out who hurt her.

The Hero(es): Knox Grayson (a.k.a. cold and evil) - Leader of the Sharks, QB1 and rich boy at Camden Prep.
Dane Grayson - Twin brother of Knox and a Shark, they have a special twin relationship.
Chance - another Shark and ex-boyfriend to Ava. He dumped her the night of the bonfire.

The story: Ava wants to find out who raped her and get revenge. She lives in a group home with the sisters of charity. She takes care of her younger brother, Tyler who has special needs. She has returned to Camden Prep because she wants to get into a good college to take care of Tyler and also so she could get Tyler in to the Camden Prep Elementary school which has programs that will help Tyler unlike the public school he attended.

The rich kids at Camden Prep are not happy that Ava returned. She brings with her many bad feelings about what happened at that bonfire party. Many of the students believe she lied about what happened to her and think she is a snitch and much worse. While a few actually believe her and feel guilt and angst about their part in what happened to her.

The narration is terrific! Zachary Webber and Savannah Peachwood do a great job and have the perfect voices for the characters. I love Ilsa Madden-Mills book and this one had all the things I like, It was really a bully romance with some added angst and I loved the relationships in this one. Especially the relationship between Ava and Tyler and the one between Knox and his twin Dane.

Great for younger peeps-still explicit though

So, I wasn't a fan of the narration from S. Peachwood, but Z. Webber knocked it out of the park as usual. I usuly love Leachwoods narration though, so I'm assuming this is a one off or something because the male portion she read pulled me out of the story in this multiple times because the emotion and intent of those parts felt kind of off,... but I could be wrong, maybe others heard it differently. OK, so the story/plot- I had a hard time since it was high schoolers. definite struggle, but younger audience peeps will probably love it. I struggles because they both said they were just kids,... but were still saying they were in love and whatnot. Anyway, I didn't hate it, the plot was definitely interesting and different and the MC is swoony AF, but this one wasn't my favorite. I'm sorry :(

Would have benefited from duet narration

Being completely honest, I came across this audiobook as I was looking for books narrated by Zachery Webber and decided to give it a go. If you're also like me and are mainly interested in the book because of ZW, then I would suggest giving this book a miss as he's not in it all the much. Savannah Peachwood was ok, but for me personally, I didn't enjoy her 'male' voices, that's why I think this probably could have been a better audiobook if it was given the duet treatment. I also found that sometimes she over-exaggerated her expressions and emotions.

The story was ok, enemies to lovers - although it wasn't hard to figure out who the letter came from. It was also quite obvious how this story would end. One thing I didn't realise, as I don't think it was mentioned in the summary, is that the story surrounds a topic which some might find it to be a trigger.

Beautifully written and narrated love story

Full of heartbreak this story of how Ava and Knox develop deep feelings for each other while trying to deny it to themselves and their friends.
The opening chapter was certainly the hook that drew me in and if I wasn't so desperately in need of sleep I would have listened to this story straight through.
Top marks go to Zachary and Savannah for such excellent narration.
I highly recommend this audiobook and will be listening to it again. ❤❤❤❤❤

Wow

I got sucked into Ava and Knox's story and found myself saying one more chapter until I reached the end.
