Publisher's Summary

He’s known by many names: Thanatos. Horseman. God’s last angel. And then, of course, there's the one I’m all too familiar with...

Death.

The day Death comes to Lazarus Gaumond’s town and kills everyone in one fell swoop, the last thing he expects to see is a woman left alive and standing. But Lazarus has her own extraordinary gift: She cannot be killed—not by humans, not by the elements, not by Death himself.

She is the one soul Death doesn’t recognize. The one soul he cannot pry free from her flesh. Nor can he ignore the unsettling desire he has for her. Take her. He wants to, desperately. And the longer she tries to stop him from his killing spree, the stronger the desire becomes.

When Lazarus crosses paths with the three other horsemen, an unthinkable situation leads to a terrible deal: seduce Death, save the world. A hopeless task, made all the worse by the bad blood between her and Thanatos. But Death’s attraction to her is undeniable, and try though she might, Lazarus cannot stay away from that ancient, beautiful being and his dark embrace.

The end is here. Humankind is set to perish, and not even the horsemen can stop Death from fulfilling his final task.

Only Lazarus can.

Amazing

As much as I hate that it's over, this book was the best closing to an amazing series, it's bittersweet. Ever since Pestilence, the first book released, I've been waiting for the story of Death and the agonizing long wait was not in vain. This book was absolute heartache and so much love all in one! You can appreciate humanity in a whole different way. Laura outdid herself with the all the Horsemen but especially with this one. I wish I could give this more than five stars.

Narration was excellent! I enjoyed every single second of it. Great job!

Wow What An Adventure

Just like all the other books this one was a roller-coaster of ups and downs. Laura Thalassa is a true story teller with the ability to write with so much angst and beauty. I have loved all the books and will reread these books again and again. The narrators performance was spot on how I would have pictured how each character sounded in my head. I loved the books and each of the 4 horsemen's personalities. I also loved they each came back for the final show down and to see them again too. The epilogue was just right and gave a fitting conclusion to an epic adventure. Definitely one of my favorite series.

Last of the Four Horsemen. I’ll miss this story

I really liked the four horseman series. It’s a interesting concept. I feel like it has enough world building to make it not feel like just a romance novel . I come back to them over and over again . I listen to the audiobook instead of reading now. I loved the narrator. Great acting . She really puts you into the story with all the emotion. There’s a lot of inner monologue but she’s a great actor. It feels like she’s feeling the words and not just talking .

Not bad, not bad at all

I really liked this story I think it had a great ending for the series. I liked all of the books. So much imperfection but love prevailed. Recommend for those who like a little violence with their love stories. "Pussy Power for THE WIN!!" For those who swoon over a good love story with tests, heartache, sacrifice, and sometimes betrayal and loathing.

Because life and death are lovers...

God damn this was a beautiful end to a phenomenal series. This final book was long, heart wrenching and so beautifully written. The journey the reader takes throughout the story of Laz and Death is a true enemies to lovers story but with much, much more depth to the plot. Their love story takes place over a long period of time with tons of hurdles and strife. At the beginning most of these struggles are self inflicted by these two characters but overtime the characters each grow and are touched by humanity in such simple yet powerful ways. These two have some serious tension and have some seriously sexy scenes 🥵. Not to mention the banter when Laz is trying to share human experiences with Death, much to his displeasure in most scenarios. Death is a deeply complex character who could've been written some one dimensionally but the author did such a fantastic job portraying the nuances of death, which is not inherently evil or good.

There is humor and old friends from previous books that we get to see. Some of my favorite moments were reading about the "brotherly" interactions between the horseman. The banter and ribbing was great fun especially after having read all their books and never really seeing them interact with anyone but death. I do recommend reading the other books first, there are enough overlapping plotlines that you'd be doing a disservice to yourself to not experience those stories.

Just do yourself a favor and read this series. The final book is painstakingly beautiful.

Life and death are lovers

I have been anxiously awaiting Death’s book since starting this series. While I’ve loved each Horseman for different reasons, Death has always been my favorite. Something about his dark and mysterious aura has always drawn me in.

This book certainly did not disappoint. I loved every second of it. It made my heart race, my pulse pound and I shed real tears a couple of times. Thanatos was so very raw! I found myself sad, angry and in love with him all at the same time.

Lazarus was the best possible match for him. I loved the push and pull between them. The relationship was fought immensely on both sides but was so beautiful to watch come together.

I’m not going to lie. I was unsure if this book was going to have a happy ending. Laura certainly scared for a moment but I absolutely love the ending and I’m so sad that this series is over.

The final horseman was with the wait. The struggles each main character has is so striking and the complicated emotions hit you in the gut. Be ready for all the feelings.

Alright

It was alright but I really found it dragging in parts. The 4 books are very similar. This one too. But it was just long..

Amazing!!!

I utterly loved Death, I fell for him so much quicker than the other horsemen and quicker than Laz did I think haha! I loved all the female characters but I think I also loved Laz the most too! I loved this book, I really, really loved the ending! Such a great way to end the series!

An unexpectedly dreamy last novel

I wasn't sure about these novels initially- the first novel in particular I found so dark and gruesome #painandsufferingmuch but by this novel it sort of changes your whole perspective of the entire story arc! Really enjoyed!

everything dies, but it's not the end.

First off, this is absolutely amazing. It made me double over laughing in places, and cry my eyes out in others. what an explosive ending to my favourite series by Laura Thalassa, I'm also heartbroken that this is the last one in the series. I've come to love these four horsemen so much, and their feisty female partners. Pestilence will always be my favourite, but Famine, Death and War are every bit as fascinating and loveable. I have enjoyed their journeys, especially this last one with all 4 of them showing up. Without spoiling too much, Famine was totally fantastic in this. oh my god, I wish it wasn't over. I can't recommend this series enough, it's the most exciting and emotional story that has completely had me from page 1. I've read these several times, and will still pick it up again. I bought the paperbacks, ebooks and all of them here on audible too. This is a must read for anyone who isn't offended by brutal fights, and other more aggressive style captive scenes. This is after all an apocalyptic story, so be prepared for dramatic effect and brutality. These horsemen are ruthless for alot of the book, which I fully expected and loved every moment of it.

Enjoyable story

I enjoyed this story. If you’ve listened to the previous books you know the type of storyline (killing off whole cities regularly etc), but I thought it handled the concept of positive afterlife well, which helped justify the storyline more, and to see Thanatos more positively.

Still good but not as good as the other three books

As always the narration is excellent. The story is very good towards the second half but there is a lot of just talking and repeat situations between the two main characters. What makes the male lead decision isn’t really believable (if you get me) lol

Did really enjoy the epilogue.

Good, but not as good as 1, 2 & 3

I was seriously hanging out for this fourth instalment in the Horsemen series, but overall I was a bit underwhlemed.
The bones of it were good, but it was actually quite drawn out, and I had to step away from it a few times to get through. Compared to the other three books which I binged, this one was a little bit disappointing.
That being said, it does tie up the saga nicely.
Susannah Jones' narration is exceptional and certainly doesn't disappoint 👌🏼

underwhelmed?

I think I had such high expectations for this and it just felt like it fell a bit flat for me- not sure if I just wasn't in the mood for this genre overall but I found it pretty easy to put down and it took me a long time to eventually finish because it felt pretty meh overall.

Freaking fantastic!!!

Once again we are taken on a journey for life and love. Only this time it’s for the final time, the final judgement. I highly recommend tissues and plenty of uninterrupted listening or reading time. It’s that sort of journey.
