Christopher Lane’s narration is superb!!

Excellent mystery featuring the protagonist from the book The Murder of Sara Barton. Chance Meridian is a complex character full of internal conflicts. As a prosecutor he made sure the defendant in his last case was found guilty. Not all his methods were exactly legal. Following that case he chose to leave public service, moved to the country and basically became a recluse with his dog.
When the Chief Justice is murdered he is pressed into accepting another case. He’s told that an old lover of his will be appointed to the office but only if he accepts. He does.
This is a really good mystery. The murderer will surprise you.
Christopher Lane does does an outstanding job narrating. I wish he would narrate more mysteries. I love his delivery of sarcasm !
Very HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Death to the Chief

Another slam dunk! Love the author, the story and the narrator. Can’t wait to read the next one. An added gem is the often mention of Christian reliefs.

Generally speaking, I enjoyed the first book. Enough to read the follow up. I could not put this down. This was phenomenal.

This series is amazing

The way it’s written and performed keeps me captivated from beginning to end. Meridian is one of my favorite characters! He has a heart and realizes his faults. I was sobbing at one point because the story touched my heart. A must read/listen

Bizarre mix of Christianity and male apologism where females serve only as background props

The main character keeps talking about his Christian morals but the lives of all male characters are ruled by their dicks - explaining that that’s just the way men are - kind of offensive. Does the author even see the hypocrisy?

Good story, shame about the narrator !

I enjoy these books, easy to follow and clever. The only down part was the narrator- he performed the story well just he sounds like a ageing Forrest Gump - and the main character is 40 - just didn’t really fit.
