What would u expect from someone named Winchester?
This is book four in the Debt Collector series. The protagonist Jack Winchester is a former hit man for the mob. He's been trying to turn his life around and now instead of hurting or killing people he's trying to help them.
In this book he contacts an d girlfriend of his. She's living with a guy who is bad news and in debt to a drug dealer for more money then he could ever come up with. Jack intervenes and their after him now too. There is also a hired assassin after him for retribution from the mob for thing he did to them when he left that life. The FBI is hot on his tail and don't believe he's a changed man. And to top things off, he finds out he's a father!
This is another adrenaline packed fast paced suspense thriller. Not always completely believable but thoroughly entertaining.
My biggest problem with this series is the length of the books. Out of four books you have two decent length novels. If I didn't enjoy the series so much I would probably skip it but instead I'm looking forward to the next. So, I guess you should take that as a recommendation for the series. If they were only mediocre I wouldn't be buying them.
Adam Gold does a great job narrating.

These very short novels aren't worth a credit
I have had an email exchange with author Jon Mills about the excessive pricing of the audio versions of his short 5.5 hour novels. He says he has no input into the price of the audio versions; Audible/Amazon alone decides what to charge for audio books based on the length of novels. I have verified his claim is accurate when using the Amazon publishing platform he uses. The audio version of Book 5 is in the later stage of production. My hope is that future novels in this series will be Whispersync for Voice enabled and available at lower cost through Kindle Unlimited. As good is novels in this series are I refuse to pay a full credit for another one. Books 1 and 3 in the series are less expensive with Kindle Unlimited but Books 2 and 4 are not.

GREAT THRILLER!
Let me start with, this is the first in the series that I've listened to. I'll definitely go back and read/listen to the others now, to make sure I have a good sense of Jack and his past. With that said, I really liked it! Love Jack, he's a total bada$$ but with issues, of course. When it rains, it pours! I really liked this one, and I'll definitely be reading/listening to more.
Great narration and great story!

A Good Noir-ish Suspense Thriller
Audiobook: DEBT COLLECTOR
(A Jack Winchester Thriller, Book 4 )
I really enjoyed listening to this noir-ish thriller. It was suspenseful and hard to turn off at bedtime. I liked the character of Winchester as well as the supporting characters he was trying to help his family. I enjoyed the grittiness of the setting being in New Orleans. It was weird for me with the character of the same name as me. This is the first audiobook I've listened to in this series and by Jon Mills. I think the length was perfect. An overall great listen and I would listen to more in the series as well.
Narration: Adam Gold did an excellent job narrating this audiobook. He sounded the part almost too perfectly. A few times it may have been just a hair overenunciated but better that than under. Another thing I really liked is that I noticed that Adam Gold narrates this whole series so far. That's great as I think it connects with the listener on a better level. It shows consistency which is what I like. An overall great job and recommended listening.

One minute at a time.
Hurricane Danielle is heading for New Orleans as Jack Winchester, one time hit man now trying to go straight, possibly as a P.I., arrives in town and makes a quick visit to the bar where his ex is working. He hadn't seen her for eight years so wasn't surprised that she'd moved on, had someone new in her life. But trouble seems to follow Jack: this time it's not just the FBI but also a Mafia hitman out to get him, and trouble has a way of spreading.
This is the first of the Jack Winchester books that this reader has read. Short, full of action but also tempered with an intriguing cat and mouse story which obviously runs through the series. There's enough characterisation to make the protagonists interesting whatever side they might take. Some suspension of belief is required, but not too much, and it's easy to be swept along with the story.
This works fully as a stand alone, too.
The narration is good, well paced and given with an almost but not quite slick tone which suited the main protagonist well. Adam Gold has a pleasant mid range voice which is easy to enjoy, his intonation is good as is his understanding of the text of the story, reacting to it appropriately where needed. His voicing of all of the characters is also good, distinctive and natural. A fine performance, marred only by a number of undeleted sentences, repeated, which should have been editted out (at least ten in the course of the story), particularly noticible as they are accompanied by a click.
Jack Winchester is an interesting character and having encountered him I am keen to read more, to track back to the earlier books and discover his history. And I will definitely be looking out for his further adventures.
