Story
With nearly 200,000 copies sold in its 25 years, Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn't just for Calvinists, says Sproul. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn't create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God but paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans.

Story
During Jesus' earthly ministry, one of the primary ways he would instruct his disciples was through parables. People would gather from far and wide in order to listen to what Jesus said about the kingdom of God, and the most common way he would explain the kingdom was in parables. But what does God want us to learn from these parables? In this series, Dr. R.C. Sproul examines several parables of Jesus, exploring the rich truths they reveal about who Jesus is and what he came to achieve through his life, death, and resurrection.

Story
Many people react negatively to the word theology, believing that it involves dry, fruitless arguments about minute points of doctrine. Yet as Dr. R.C. Sproul argues, everyone is a theologian. Any time we think about a teaching of the Bible and strive to understand it, we are engaging in theology. Therefore, it is important that we put the Bible's varied teachings together in a systematic fashion, using proper, time-tested methods of interpretation so as to arrive at a theology that is founded on truth.

Institutes of the Christian Religion is John Calvin's seminal work on Protestant systematic theology. Highly influential in the Western world and still widely read by theological students today, it was published in Latin in 1536 and in his native French in 1541. The book serves as an introductory textbook on the Protestant faith for those with some previous knowledge of theology and covers a broad range of theological topics from the doctrines of church and sacraments to justification by faith alone and Christian liberty.

Publisher's Summary
Dr. R. C. Sproul clearly and simply argues that at its core Christianity is rational. He focuses on defending the basic truth claims for two of the most crucial issues of apologetics: God's existence and the Bible's authority.
In this primer of apologetic thought, Dr. Sproul affirms four logical principles that are necessary for all real discussion and teaches you how to defend your faith in a faithless world. Using the writings of church fathers and philosophers throughout the ages, he uncovers the common ideologies that work against faith. The defense of the faith is not a luxury or an intellectual vanity. It is a task appointed by God that you should be able to give a reason for the hope that is in you as you bear witness before the world.

Too technical
This is not a layman's introduction to apologetics. This is a very technical textbook for graduate level philosophy students. At least, that's what it seemed like to me. I am not a stupid person, but I was lost through much of this. This is not the first apologetics book I've read/listened to, but this was the most difficult. I haven't finished it yet and I'm not sure I will. Very advanced and uses highly technical language. I would only recommend this only if you have a firm foundation of philosophy and logic.

Enlightening
I had expected this book to be a collection of hard hitting arguments from science, archeology, prophecy, etc. for the divinity of the Bible. Instead it was an introduction to defending the faith from an almost purely philosophical perspective.
At first I was disappointed but as I listened I found myself intrigued with a side of Biblical apology that I had never considered. By the end of the book I was delighted with the purchase. Sproul does an excellent job showing how men think without God and how logic and rational thought will inevitably bring men to the knowledge that there is a God. I think it is one of the most educationally enlightening books I've read. I highly recommend it!

Great way to strengthen your faith!
If you could sum up Defending Your Faith in three words, what would they be?
Powerful, Motivating, Concrete.
What did you like best about this story?
How the use of many early theologians and scholarly people are brought into the arena.
Which character – as performed by Robertson Dean – was your favorite?
I don't remember much about that.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Though it is a lot of information to process so maybe better to split it up the second time you listen to it!

Good content, dry reading
I feel that the book tries too hard to appeal to non believers as opposed to being a resource for those that already believe. This is the heart of apologetics. Decent book of you could look past that
