the fall of another great op mc story?

to start off I want to say that I think both the author and narrator are two of the very best and none of my small complaints are in anyway ment to disparage either of these highly skilled individuals. actually my only concern is with the stagnation of the mc Zac.
contrary to popular belief there are actually very very few over powered single character focused novels being produced by competent authors that can actually do it the right way with just enough struggle and hardship for spice. I understand I'm in the minority but even so my minority has a staggering number of dedicated readers and we are always forced to downgrade in quality because the only op mc books being produced are in the anime genra and 99% of those have to be translated into English so they don't flow correctly and 99% of the writers doing them are crap.
when the first book I'm this series came out I was excited, it was the book I had always been looking for and judging by all the success of it my fellow op mc lovers enjoyed it to. I loved how Zac worked for everything he gained but still became the baddest guy around. no politics, no side characters, and no fluff. grinding levels and gaining power was his game and he crushed it. book two opened my eyes to how big the multiverse was (when he met average and greatest) and just how much more Zac had to explore. I just knew Zac would close all the incursions and become a wandering cultivator going everywhere he pleased finding epic loot and destroying powerful foes. sadly it's book 6 and Zac is still e grade still dealing with the dominators and still worried about the great redeemer and still messing around with the mystic realm. let's get back to our roots and get Zac back on the road to progression and exploring the vast multiverse. earth is boring

Billy

Thwonkin Billy is the smartest person in this book. Momma always said so. Super Brother Man is almost as smart.

Incredible!

This book was maybe my favorite in the series so far. Werewolves? Yes, please. To address the audio concerns: I emailed the publisher and they fixed chapter 3. The mention of the issues in the 20s chapters? Not there. Must be a glitch from the user's system. The only bad part is waiting for book 7.

Pavi is at his best here. Great narration to fit the great story. MOOOAR!

Rapidly losing patience with this series

When everything is the worst pain imaginable, pain no longer means anything.

When everything terrifies you, calling something terrifying no longer means anything.

When you spend every inner monologue downplaying your own power/ achievements, your power/ achievements no longer feel satisfying.

Fights are starting to feel incredibly samey, and ominous foreshadowing is thrown at our faces almost constantly. I don't CARE about the black cracks on his skin. I don't CARE about the ominous foreshadowings. Just throw them on the pile with the countless other ones.

Do you see the issue?

If not, I'm envious. It's all I can see, and it's making this an incredibly frustrating read.

"Zach asked in confusion" part 6...

More of the same...

Great story
Fun side characters
An interesting and ever expanding world

The vast majority of new information we receive is directly from Zach asking someone near him every single thought that comes to his very small mind.

Ive lamented this before in previous books but, when you have ONE character asking damn near every single "What" "Why" "Where" "When" ... that character is functionally an idiot. Unaware of ANYTHING going on around him, unable to learn information by observing, Zero intuition or empathic talent. Unfortunately this ONE character is Zach, the MC...
Its hard for me to take in the actual day to day actions of Zach and still think of him as an effective or even competent leader. Its written that he shall win and overcome, so he does! ...but not much about the actual character matches.

I just wish this author could have figured out how to get us (the reader/listener) all this new information without doing it in the laziest most obvious way possible... oh lets just have our main character get all of it over multiple conversations.

3rd person view??? nah, why would we do that??

Use the clearly established authors voice to place us in a location or give us new information?? Nah..

Have ANYONE else ask the same question that Zach will?? ...but then some other character may start to seem like a dummy too...

I have the preference for character driven story over plot or spectacle, so this series will likely never get to top tier for me, but is still enjoyable to experience.

Voice acting is all great except (yet again) for Zach... all other characters sound fine but Zach sounds constipated. Like there is always a small whine in the back of his throat

Doa of awesome upgraded.

Takes off from the end of book 5, book 7 is being edited and he has book 8, 9, maybe 10 up on his patreon. If you have made it to this book you aren't stopping here. I can not wait for more. The story just keeps getting better and better.

Another fantastic entry in this gem of a series!

Honestly, the sheer scope of this story is maybe what I love most. I see people complaining about the fact that the action still takes place on earth, but it's obvious that the author has a vision for the future of this story, where Zac inevitably starts exploring the multiverse.
To me, it just means that he's stretching out the story. That might be an issue with some authors, as they might be to slow or just drop the project, but JF Brink is pumping out chapters on a weekly schedule, while still coming across as quite passionate about his project...to my mind, he's just prolonging and fleshing out this epic tale!

To both the author an narrator: Keep it up, you rock!

This book was a overall disappointment

This book was about skills more then a story every chapter seemed to be about skills and dow.
The author has a habit of building up strong OP villains but when the fights finally happen its meh.
Also way to many wolf like enemies in the entire series.
Lastly get him a women you don't have to be lil D about it just let him have a girlfriend

Let the MC socialize, slow down the main story

This book has been falling into the trap of speed to push the story for6at all costs. Unfortunately that cost has been what interested me the most. So much of basic talking was glazed over and summarized by the MC. Not to mention the rewarding side of useless political fights could've come to a head in this book. We heard of only 2 factions of earth's reactions to events this book, the rest was just told. Where are the beastmen or Marshall patriarch.

Still to mutch inner dialog and confusion

good story
fun and endgaging side characters
expanding world

this book started fine, and was defenetly better then the last book. but the mc's progression is still to slow, and he knows way to little and cant seam to think up any thing for him self. the suspence some time seams forced, not in every figth but some. there was thankfully more conversation this time around insted of just endles amounts of inner dialoug, but there was stil alot of it. and the mc seams less and less desisive further out in the book. and he is full of confusion, fear, and uncertainies. alot of the story tells of what he must do after he is done with the imidiet threat on earth, and some of his skills and his progression also tells of this, but the story drags out his stay on earth. and i daout he will be done here in the next book either. not if the mc continues to be kind of an confused idiot. a bit hard to explain. also there are to many words that repeat over and over again. however is one of the worst words that is exesivli used.

I stil i look forward to the next book, hoping to hear the zack from book 1 - 3 and the zack in the start of this book. it would also be awsome if the writer could find another way to explain some figts, insted of using however for every turning pint in the battle for or against the mc. if you want an example, many of the battles (not all) curently goes something like this, he did that, however zack could do this, however it seamed like this was fake, however zack could... and so on. bad example but the word is verry promenent in the book. there are others that is also repeted alot.

A never-ending power trip...

... that still manages to catch my entire attention. It does have quite a few highlights. The tropes are getting mildly but slowly tiresome though.

Hoping there will finally be some meaningful character development in the next book.

Better excitement

The audio comes out a bit better than the story as this one feels a bit less action than previous ones I have came across before. However the narration and more characters make up for this so still keeps you happy as you listen along.
As this is a decent length of audio the story and audio is well worth it as we lookf forward to the next in series.

Honestly, it's becoming a struggle to keep going..

The series is just becoming very waffly and I don't have faith in the storyline. This is actually the first time I've felt propelled to write a review mid way through a book. I think that's actually quite telling. The only reason I'm going to continue with it is because I hate leaving things unfinished, but I doubt it will be enjoyable.

Less jaw more paw

We are on book 6 and I've stuck with it so far so that's a sign the books are still good enough to stick with. My main complaint, in particular with the last two books has been the amount of deliberation and inner monolog from the main character. He hums and haws about this and that and how the world must work and it becomes tedious. It feels like he is padding out the book and I'd rather have a shorter book with more action and less introspection.

I think the amount in book 6 is not as bad as it was in book 5 but if it carries on in the same vain in the next book I'll drop the series. I end up dropping off listening to it or my mind wandering in the really boring bits. Get back to basics and sop explaining how you think the world works and what clan nobody is up to, no one cares.

Much better writing than book 5

I just about stopped this series completely due to the constant use of the same words and phrases repeated dozens of times. I'm proud to say this book was waaay easier listening. As other comments have said the main story/ progression is a little limited in this book, but the world still remains interesting.

Please, its been 6 books...

I love the storyline and world building of Defiance of the Fall BUT the actual writing is sloppy. The constant use of the SAME word over and over or lack of pronouns or the description of something as it is (like an explosion being explosive AND using both those terms in the same sentence) is maddening. I'm sure there's been this exact feedback for all the previous books but nothing has been done so far. I really hope for some literary advancement in the future as I am enjoying the story itself and want to see where it goes.

Same but still interesting

Zac constantly observes that situation or monster seems threatening, but should be no threat since he is virtually invincible… only to find it was a threat. Half a dozen times might be understand, but the guy never learns.

Saying that… it’s still an enjoyable listen and hasn’t been boring yet.

Classic middle book

Classic middle book where the real action will occur. Still a good continuation, the books ending is just poor, no build up or cliffhanger. Better of to wait until the next book is released an listen both at the same time.
