Publisher's Summary

If you truly love Allah, you will die for him. Your death will mean much reward for you and your family in heaven. Only death will prove your love.

It was the final test. A chance to win not only the love of Allah, but the love of her father - something she had never been able to earn. Esther took a deep breath and raised her hand in the air. At the age of 18, she had just volunteered to become a suicide bomber.

Defying Jihad is the true story of a girl growing up under radical Islamic rule, trained to believe her ultimate purpose was to serve Allah by dying as a jihadist. But two nights before she was to leave forever, she had a dream...one that would change the course of her destiny.

Against all odds, Esther became a follower of Jesus - even though leaving Islam meant her death sentence. But rather than kill her immediately, Esther's furious father challenged her to a series of public debates with Muslim scholars: the Bible versus the Quran. If Esther won, she might yet survive. But if the Muslim clerics won, Esther must renounce her Christian faith. For an entire month - if she lived that long - Esther would be brought before the mob daily to defend her newfound faith. Would God give her the words to argue against Muslim leaders, former friends, and even her own family?

Defying Jihad is an amazing story of a woman prepared to surrender all for Jesus - and whose life transformed from terror to overwhelming love.

An Incredible True Story!!

This is one of the most amazing and incredible true stories of any book I've ever read or listened to!! It was hard to stop listening to it, and in fact for the last several chapters, I thought about stopping but just couldn't because I wanted to find out what would happen. It's the true story of a former devout Muslim girl who Jesus called to Himself just before she would have made a huge mistake!!

Amazing life story. Amazing Christ.

I couldn’t put this book down. How I have taken for granted the privilege I have in South Africa, to talk & share freely about Christ. I have a new hunger for a more intimate relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ.

Inspirational!

I love the fact that Esther truly studied both the Koran and the Bible in depth and was able to make educated arguments as to why she believes the way she does. I really enjoyed listening to her journey and I felt the narrator did an excellent job! (I’m a bit picky when it comes to narrators:) My heart was lifted and my faith was strengthened from listening to this book. Highly recommend!

A great book, revealing, and praising to God!

a great book, based on the amazing life of a woman used by God. It is eye opening to the truth of Islam and also shows just how good and faithful the God of the Christians is.

Eye opening horrors of Islam

This is the most amazing terrifying story of the horrors of Islam. Every one should read it to understand this violent religion that is so far from the truth.  the woman suffer from such abuse and the men are ruthless. perhaps this story will set many free

A must read

I loved this book!!I was drawn in right from the outset. Reading this book will give you a greater insight into extreme Islam and a greater understanding of what it means to be a true follower of Jesus. This book has had a profound effect on me as a Western world Christian. No one wants persecution but I tell you what, very few of us in the West truly know what it is to be a true disciple of Jesus. This girl certainly does.

Compelling True Story

This is such a sad and yet inspiring story of what still goes on today. The writer is a true heroine and an inspiration to us all.
As a privileged westerner I can only imagine what this young lady ensured whilst never losing sight of what she believed in.
This has given me a lot of things to think about and I hope I can be more grateful for the life that we as free Western women lead.

Couldn't stop listening!

I listened to Defying Jihad in one day.
When she told about Jesus whispering to her I felt tingles. Such a brave young woman. As a Christian I admire her courage
I especially liked the writing about her life with her mother; full of warmth and love. Plus she managed to convey the urgency of refugees fleeing for their lives.
Truly inspirational.

Starter well but …

The story of this book at the start does grab you the first half of the book interesting

But after that it just becomes rather bizarre, with me unable to listen without bursting out laughing

The whole story of when esthers family find out she is a Christian and under house arrest is gripping, then during her house arrest there are some debates, which are adults arguing tit for tat how one religious text is fact and the other isn’t, Like either book stands up to any fact checking

Esther speaks of the story of Jonah and the whale as if this actually really happened, while this is a good story, any person living in a real whale is clearly not factually correct no matter which book you look at it from.

After this she speaks of several miracles, her mum being ill all the way thru the book until they pray for her and she is cured, never to be mentioned again

Her needing money only to pray and waking with the money in her hand and the piste de la resistance, curing a friend of diabetes after praying for her, I mean come on !!!

Esther seemingly having conversations with god himself, you would think he would be rather busy.

Everyone Esther meets questions her religion I just find this whole hard to believe, and the problem with that is it makes you question the whole book, to make you wonder if any of it is true.

But it did make me think and parts were interesting but if you are not a Christian you probably won’t like this book

'bible bashing' story

You wont enjoy this book if you are not a person with an undying Christian faith.
The beginning of the story and this womans journey was indeed riveting, but the story became overshadowed by the far fetched
and unbelievable nature of some aspects. It was sad to see she jumped from one brainwashed religion to the next so easily.. the story became like a Christian teaching manual on the power of Christianity in converting Muslims and had a very 'bible bashing' tone to it.

A profoundly moving account of becoming free!

This book is a riveting account of a woman's life before and after becoming Christian.
She, belonged to a very militant Islamic strain and therefore was brainwashed into believing that the only way to please Alla was to commit Jihad..
It is well written and narrated with great feeling.
A must read for anyone interested in understanding why Moslem's hate and want to kill in the name of Allah.

Learning to Live by Faith in Jesus Christ our Lord

If in book form, couldn't put it down until one has read it all. Just had to keep listening until the end. Amazing, amazing testimony of the great love of God/Jesus✝️ has for all mankind in action. A book every single Christian & Muslim need to read. Show's the huge difference between The Holy Bible & Religion. That goes for Religious Christians as well. God/Jesus ✝️is love, Religions are of man & their own works.

Fascinating Life story.

For preteens and above. This book fascinated both myself and my daughters.

No swearing, sexualised content. The talk of murder is handled well in such a way no to terrify the reader but still portray the seriousness of the situation.

Just another piece of proselytizing literature dressed up as a book with a very catchy title.

If you are looking (like me) to understand how normal people get radicalised and become terrorists, this book doesn’t give us enough insights. The author does explain how her family was previously not radical and later was radicalised, she doesn’t explain the reasons or the process. She attributes everything thing to the belief that one will gets lots rewards in heaven, but later she debunks this belief, so to me it looks like all her explanations was simply to discredit Islam and proselytise re Christianity rather than a true account of the reasons and the process.

I find it hard to believe that after conversion to Christianity, her (Jihadist) parents conducts public debates between her and several clerics on religion rather than just killing her straight away. I also find it hard to believe that none of the clerics are successful in defeating her in an argument.

In summary, this is just another piece of proselytizing literature dressed up as a book with a very catchy title.
