Publisher's Summary

This bundle includes all three books in the number one best-selling series Demigods Academy. A young-adult urban fantasy saga full of magic, mythology, and adventures. Perfect for fans of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson.

On their 18th birthday, everyone in the world receives a Shadowbox - a magic box that is a gift like no other...because it’s a gift from the Gods.

For the majority of people, there’s only a birthday message inside their Shadowbox. For a few chosen, though, there’s something more. Nobody knows what those special guys receive. What’s known is that they disappear and never come back.

Rumors say they are invited to join the Gods’ Army...I think it’s just a load of crap.

My name is Melany Richmond, and for my entire life, I’ve been an outcast, an orphan tossed around like a ship in a storm. I don’t think that gods really exist. I never even received my Shadowbox when I turned 18. Maybe because nobody knows my true birth date, or because not even the gods care about me. After all, I'm a blue-haired rebel and troublemaker with tattoos all over my arms.

I’m not like Callie Demos, the beautiful blondie living in the huge estate my adopted mother takes care of. She is the perfect specimen of Greek devotion, and nobody doubts she will get “the call”. She has everything in her life and doesn’t appreciate any of it. Her birthday party is the biggest event in town, and everyone wants to be there when she receives her blessing. To me, it’s just another ridiculous parade.

But when I secretly open her Shadowbox and feel its magic on my skin, all my beliefs vanish.

Gods do exist. And if the scroll in my hands says the truth, they have a secret academy where their recruits train to become demigods.

I’ve done really bad things in my life, but stealing Callie’s opportunity to attend the God’s Academy? It’s got to be the worst.

If Gods find out I’m a faker, what was supposed to be someone else’s gift may turn into my personal curse.

Magic. Adventures. Friendship.

Not Good coming back to it...(Spoilers)

The female voice isn't an issue but just seems too plain jane for me, and so is the guy's voice. the story's plot isn't an issue, but the extra details make scenes feel dragged out and there's a lot more telling than showing with a lot of things in the series, such as sizing up Melanie to be a girl boss before having her show that to us first by having her beat someone up rather than just being snarky like her little fist could do anything meaningful without proper training. Felt bad at first that the guy i wanted for her wasn't picked, but seeing as how her reason for breaking up with him was so stupid, I'd say he dodged a bullet. I realized I hate love triangles after this. And the fact that her friends distanced from her after finding out it was also her choice to choose a different path, makes them so fake that i can't bring myself to feel anything when stuff happens to them. And what became of Hades at the end of this was just sad, not because of his death, but because he's clinging to a girl that he opened his heart to only for her to switch sides and abandon him for not letting her do something stupid and irrational. Maybe it's because I first listened before the 2020's but, now in another decade, everything hits different and I don't think I'll be listening to this again. Waste your time at your own peril, just don't say you weren't warned.

Such a good book series!

This was a very good book series the first 3 ( I'm on to the fourth now) has been memorable and exciting. I love the way every character was written. however I didn't necessarily like that there was sex in the 3rd book. just my preference. there were some repeated words and wrong pronunciations every now and again. but overall a really great listen.

book 3 gets annoying

main character loses all interest and gets rather disappointing to follow with. The first 2 were okay.

Good story, could have been better

*** Includes some spoilers***
The storyline was great but as it went I disliked the characters more, I felt like the characters deteriorated.

From the first chapter I didn’t see why she was speaking mean about the birthday girl(sure she was spoilt but the writer didn’t really give us an obvious reason to hate her).

The characters made too many irrational decisions for people training to be soldiers, I found my self asking them “what next?” So many times. Like you’re telling me you want to break the MC out of hades hall, THEN WHAT? It’ll take you so many hours to do that and literally take hades seconds to take her back and you could literally die trying.

I expected the MC to become stronger but she just became an annoying girl acting without thinking. The MC seem more like a little girl starved of attention all her life and then got more of it than she knew what to do with

The story itself was okay, Vanessa Moyen did and amazing job, the male narrator was a tad dramatic but he did a good job too

possible age limit?

I love the narrators and the story is great enjoyed it immensely but if this was a movie it would be R rated great for young adults in their 20s and older but frankly I was embarrassed at the sex scenes and I am almost 60 I would think about reclassifying this for an older generation although this is my personal opinion I'm enjoying the series greatly and will buy the books four, five and six to finish the series

standard story but enjoyable

overall, an enjoyable book. The main character is spunky and likeable, with the heart of a rebel who can see through BS. There's the golden boy heart throb who is amazing. stereotypical mean girl to go against the protagonist. Follows a pretty standard formula, but there were parts that surprised me and kept me intrigued.

Not bad, not good

I saw this advertised as something Percy Jackson fans would enjoy, not a comparison I would make as this falls short of Percy Jackson level of writing/story. The story is good, at times confusing and in need of fleshing out. The intimacy between her and Hades threw me off as I was expecting Hades to be her father. Other story developments went faster than I would have liked or thought they deserved. The author plays rather fast and loose with the mythology, a “big reveal” in book 2 is that Persephone is Demeter’s daughter (I know I’m still shook from when I found that out studying Greek mythology in elementary school). I’m only listening so I’m not sure but I’m pretty positive that Hades’ butler “Sharon” is Charon, he ferries souls over the river Styx, so massive downgrade for him. The main character is also incredibly stupid/dense to the point of irritation, I.e “the Gods won’t help us” despite a group of Gods sitting in her planning circle helping. As a comparison to Percy Jackson, it disappoints and probably should not be advertised as such. In regards to its Greek mythology, it’s shakey to the point of distraction. As a story in of itself it’s not bad, some twists were unexpected, some things needed more fleshing out. I’ve heard there are more books in the series, I won’t go out of my way to finish the series. (Writing this on my phone and my first review, so this is not as fleshed out as I would like)

I hate the characters and the narator

I think this book is bad. The narrator just made it worse. Too forced! It's as if the writer had a good idea but then was unsure how to develop the story. And worse, the characters don't sound natural. In writing characters have to develop organically. These characters all develop like the writer was determined to make her characters behave in a certain way no matter what!

I could only listen for about four hours (minus the three I dozed off) . The main character started off demanding that you like her, by pointing to someone she assumed was worse because she was entitled and rich! But then she attempts to steal from the very same girl, which in my book makes her far worse. Oh but it's okay because our heroine has had a rough life so she deserves whatever she takes! That sounds like the definition of entitled!

I think when the narrator acted out this character she brought the narcissistic brat attitude front and center...which this book definitely did not need! I went from not liking this book to feeling like I needed to review and then delete it!

Four hours in and all I know is...I want my money back!

Great story

It would get 5 stars if it weren't for the mandatory inclusion of a gay couple. Even if minor characters, authors could leave that element out without detracting from the story

Great character building

Loved these books. Encompassed everything a fantasy lover wants. Set with a back drop of Olympus myths in modern times, it has action, a great story progression and just enough romance that it doesn’t get soppy. The characters build until you feel you know them and I now have to go listen to the next one! The narrators are relaxing to listen to with smooth voices. An overall pleasure.
Would make a great t.v adaption!

Started ok ....

So, book 1 was ok and it could have developed into great book. There is a bit of an issue with actually needing to listen all the way to the last book in the boxset to figure out what is going on. This is a bad copy of Percy Jackson, but with self-righteous female lead who has no sense whatsoever and then there is some sex. All the things you love about Percy, Melanie does NOT have those. Demanding everything from everyone while giving nothing to no-one is our Melanie. It ended developing into kind of reverse harem which however is no such thing as the two males involved have no wish to share. Ms. Amore please understand that it is only ok if all agree to this, uhmk? If they do not than it is just a cheating soandso who deserves NOTHING.

***KICK ASS SERIES***

An action packed series that takes you for a ride that you never forgets. And Vanessa Moyen and Stephen Dexter are brilliant and perfect for their roles. I would have loved Hades to have his own pov and more of Lucien but it is as it is. I highly recommened this series and looking forward to the next installments.

Fun story

But the male narrator was really inconsistent, using different voices and accents for the same character. He also pronounced names differently to the female narrator.
