Publisher's Summary

The king is dead - and with him, the last thread holding the kingdom together.

Deep cracks are forming throughout the kingdom of Nri with whispers of deadly successors lurking beneath the shadows. Despite having the same face, it seems the deepest crack is forming between Naala and Sinai, the reunited twin goddesses, who must put their differences aside as they travel through a broken Nri.

Unbeknownst to the girls, their use of the mystical Ṇdu crystal has awakened mythical beasts and the lost gods, each returning to Nri one by one. One thing is clear, the twins will have to face enemies at every corner of the kingdom...one of whom lies hidden amongst those they hold dearest.

As ongoing turmoil spreads throughout the kingdom, the daughters of Nri must unmask the true face of their enemy, as they discover that their unique blood has marked them with magic strong enough to restore true peace to the world - a task only they can complete.

But with beasts lurking far and wide, will they be able to do so before the kingdom succumbs to its looming curse?

Excellent Story!

I loved this! Contrary to what others might say I had no problem with the vocal performance of the narrator. The story was fantastic. I listened to it while working and had no problem following the plot. I’d recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy

Very difficult to follow the plot details

This book is read in a very heavy accent. While I can understand how an accent can lend character, this accent is so heavy that it’s difficult to distinguish character names and many other words. If reading a printed book, it would be much easier to distinguish and understand what words are mythical. Either the writer should’ve clarified more terms throughout the book or the reader should have less of an accent. I gave up about halfway through realizing that I didn’t know much about the storyline.

great performance, but difficult to follow

overall, I love this series. However the second book was infinitely more complicated and hard to follow. I wouldn't recommend it for a more passive listener.

Loved it

I enjoyed the mystical from an African point of view. And the narrator made it sound authentic. Reminds of friends from west Africa. My only complaint is that it ended making me want more. Looking forward to the next book.

Incredible

This story had me engrossed from the beginning. The plot was exceptionally woven and I was biting my nails to see what would happen. The is a praise worthy sequel. To the author this has to, at the least, be a trilogy!! I am ready for the next book please. I can see this as a movie!!

Confusing

I lost track of how many times I was confused about what was suddenly happening. I went back a few minutes each time listening intently only to find that I again had no idea what was happening, how we got to whatever what was going on and why it connected and part of the story. First audio book I gave up on a chose not to finish due to so many surprising holes and no sign of answers to come.

Distraction Overwhelming

As I've mentioned in previous reviews, the authors storyline is the most interesting that I've read in some time. I'm already looking forward to the next installment and I've recommended this book to others.
However, in this production from Audiobook, you can clearly hear the narrator swallowing. This is unnerving and so disturbing, that it was a struggle to listen to the story. I'm not sure what equipment was used, but it was a clear difference from previous recordings. I still highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in African folklore or just enjoys a great story of adventure.

So… we need part 3 🧐

Obsessed with this book series. We need more books and a few movies 🥰

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this and might listen to part 1 and this one again to listen out for details I might have missed 😂

Make this into a movie!

Easily one of the best books I have ever read. Disappointed it came to an end. I am stopping myself from contacting the author and asking her for part 3 or if she is in talks with a director.
