Until one day, when she receives a proposal of marriage... from a man she loved long ago.

Frederick Lancaster, brother to the Marquess of Elmridge, returns home from war. Unable to make his peace with the past, he retreats into the dark until his brother dies unexpectedly and Frederick is thrust into a world of duty. In order to father an heir, he agrees to marry...a woman he does not remember.

Can Frederick see past Ellie's scars? Will Ellie be able to heal his wounded soul?

I wish I could return this

I've read other Bree books, but I don't remember them being so much about the bedroom act. I wanted to listen to this book, but was too embarrassed to play it out loud. I was hoked because it was a good story, but There was too much bedroom talk to play this out loud around my family! Somehow, I slipped from sweet romance into this. Although there were no gory details, I just must have forgotten to do my research. Shame on me!

Narrator spoils the potential of the story

This story had great potential that was ruined by the narrator. The male lead, Frederick, was supposed to be soldier tortured and damaged by war and the death of his best friend in the war. The proper interpretation of the emotions of Frederick by the narrator would have made the story. Unfortunately, the narrator chose to give the male lead a high feminine voice that sounded overly loud, strident, petulant, and whiny. Whether he was mumbling, exhausted, hurt, or shutting down his feelings the delivery was given in the same shrill, discordant tone. I cringed anytime Frederick had to speak. What a waste!
