Publisher's Summary

“In this joyous, wildly unconventional memoir, Séamas O'Reilly tells the story of losing his mother as a child and growing up with ten siblings in Northern Ireland during the final years of the Troubles as a raucous comedy, a grand caper that is absolutely bursting with life."―PATRICK RADDEN KEEFE, NYT bestselling author of Say Nothing and Empire of Pain

Séamas O’Reilly’s mother died when he was five, leaving him, his ten (!) brothers and sisters, and their beloved father in their sprawling bungalow in rural Derry. It was the 1990s; the Troubles were a background rumble, but Séamas was more preoccupied with dinosaurs, Star Wars, and the actual location of heaven than the political climate.

An instant bestseller in Ireland, Did Ye Hear Mammy Died? is a book about a family of loud, argumentative, musical, sarcastic, grief-stricken siblings, shepherded into adulthood by a man whose foibles and reticence were matched only by his love for his children and his determination that they would flourish.

Absolutely beautiful.

Best audiobook this year for me. Colorful, imaginative, and I loved it. Quite a tribute to the author’s family.

Voice actor? Please?

Seemed like it could be a good story but couldn’t hear the readers voice. Poorly read. Didn’t finish.

Lovely memoir!

Loved every moment of this!! Had to rewind a few times due to the author’s Irish accent but did so happily because I didn’t want to miss a word!! Cheers to your spider father Joe!!

A pure joy.

Smart and hilarious. Apparently audible requires 15 words for a review. So I will say it again. This book is smart and hilarious.

Sweet, a bit sad & extremely charming

Sweet, a bit sad & extremely charming like most Irish I've had the pleasure of knowing. The Dad voice is brilliant & rivals the voice I give my Da when telling stories. Thank you for sharing your life

Amazing

This book is probably the funniest thing I’ve ever gotten to listen to on audible. I love it so much and I bought it from my father for Father’s Day which is on Sunday. I love the honest interpretation and his hilarious sense of introspection
