Publisher's Summary

In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

The most important book EVER on UFOs

I read this book in print shortly after it came out and, wow, it blew my mind! And now, over thirty years later, I've listened to the audiobook. Again—WOW!

This is perhaps the single most important book on UFOs ever written. I don’t say that lightly, I mean it sincerely.

This book is, to a degree, a reworking of Vallee’s 1969 book "Passport to Magonia". I feel "Dimensions" is the better book, although many of the same ideas are presented. It flows wonderfully as an audiobook, and much praise must be given to Michael Hacker for his masterly narration. He captures the mystery beautifully. This is essential reading, the mythological aspects are remarkable. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Interesting and Thought Provoking

Vallee provides insight into the topics of visitors and abductions and does not toe the line of many in the ancient aliens field. His historic knowledge and the extensive research he has applied throughout his career gives a solid foundation and questions the common theory often ascribed to the answer being of extraterrestrial origins. Whether you ultimately believe his theories or not, the propositions are thought provoking and deserve a deeper scientific approach to investigate and determine what this ancient and ongoing interaction truly is.

Not like the rest

good narrator, a little quiet. Very interesting working-through of an even more interesting theory. The cases examined are really quite unique & unusual, and Vallee walks you through the premises of his theory in a clear and methodical way. He has definitely given me more food for thought on the topic---a topic that most books make you feel like you're eating the same sandwich on different bread (although this was published quite awhile ago). Entertaining and Interesting.

Makes Sense

Great book! Makes more sense than any other UFO book I have read. The author takes a scientific objective approach to the subject which is refreshing.

Informative

This is a pretty informative book, the author really wants the reader to ponder the concepts provided in the book. Even analyze events though a skeptic lens. Even questioning those theories also questioning if the UFOs and other paranormal events aren’t from Space like many believe.

interesting Perspective

It was an interesting read and brings up a lot of great points. it's good to remain skeptical about this phenomena, until we can prove otherwise we shouldn't just accept the narrative. Question everything.

Totally misleading

The author opens the book claiming to back up their claims with scientific evidence, but there isn’t truly any actual evidence. It’s quite opinionated; even demeaning and belittling to those he interviewed.

Obviously, the author uses manipulative tactics to gain insight from people personally and then disrespectfully attempts to discredit their stories with nothing more than mockery.

If you enjoy arrogance and close-mindedness, this is the book for you.

FYI, I neither agree now disagree with him claims. I was simply curious. I just don’t appreciate the snobby attitude and deceit for the sake of one’s pride and ego.

I recommend this book

I recommend this book. Vallee has been involved with the UFO phenomenon since the 1950s. He thinks for himself and has a compelling solution to the mysteries of UFOs.

Nonsense

Regardless of any truth in reports of abductions, this book is utter nonsense, religious claptrap, Jack, shame on you. Jack's premis? it cannot be aliens due to the historical duration of UFOs visitations.... yeah, cos it can't be an ongoing project for that long, sure, or a time dilated act? why not? Cos jack says so..... why use reported data when 'god' will do. what a waste of time.

Informative

Jacques Vallee pools together many UFO stories, creatures from our past, religious entites and much more to try and piece together something that has shaped our past and will undoubtedly have an effect on our future. If you are at all interested in the UFO phenomenon - this is for you.
