Story
The second book by Sunset Strip video vixen Bobbie Brown, Cherry on Top documents Brown's transformation from 1990s sex symbol to comedy queen, revealing the dramatic ups and downs of her biggest reinvention yet. Once the hottest girl on the Sunset Strip, the blonde beauty in the video to Warrant's 1990s hit, "Cherry Pie" is now in her late 40s, and she's letting her mouth run wild as a headliner on the comedy stage a few doors down from the rock clubs she once frequented. She's still smoking hot, but telling jokes about farting on men's balls isn't helping her find The One.

They were just a couple of tweets, but they propelled actress and Playboy playmate Carrie Stevens into the headlines, as stories swirled about sexual harassment in the movie industry and President Trump’s alleged affairs. Besieged by the media, Carrie was shocked and astounded at the frenzy these tweets aroused. It convinced her that she needed to write her memoir. Her attitude: If they think these stories are sensational, just wait until they hear about all of her life’s adventures.

From the do-or-die early days of self-financed recordings and D.I.Y. concert productions that were as flashy as they were foolhardy, to the multi-platinum, MTV-powered glory years of stadium-shaking anthems and chart-topping power ballads, to the ultimate crash when grunge bands like Nirvana forever altered the entire climate of the business, Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock's Nothin' But a Good Time captures the energy and excess of the hair metal years in the words of the musicians and industry insiders who lived it.

In 1984, at the age of 20, Duff McKagan left his native Seattle - partly to pursue music, but mainly to get away from a host of heroin overdoses then-decimating his closest group of friends in the local punk scene. In LA only a few weeks and still living in his car, he answered a want ad for a bass player placed by someone who identified himself only as "Slash." Soon after, the most dangerous band in the world was born. Guns N' Roses went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.

Just as Nicks (and Lindsay Buckingham) gave Fleetwood Mac the "shot of adrenaline" they needed to become real rock stars - according to Christine McVie - Gold Dust Woman is vibrant with stories and with a life lived large and hard.

Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. Publisher's Summary
She's my cherry pie. Tastes so good, make a grown man cry.
Who could forget the sexy "Cherry Pie" girl from hair metal band Warrant's infamous music video? Bobbie Brown became a bona fide vixen for her playful role as the object of lead singer Jani Lane's desires. With her windblown peroxide mane, seductive scarlet lips, and flirtatious curves, she epitomized every man's fantasy. But the wide-eyed Louisiana beauty queen's own dreams of making it big in Los Angeles were about to be derailed by her rock-and-roll lifestyle.
Ever wonder what it's like to f*** a rock star? After her tumultuous marriage to Jani imploded, and her engagement to fast-living Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee ended in a drug haze - followed by his marriage days later to Pamela Anderson - Bobbie decided it was time Hollywood's hottest bachelors got a taste of their own medicine. Step one: get high. Step two: get even. In a captivating, completely uncensored confessional, Bobbie explicitly recounts her encounters with some of the most famous men in Hollywood: Leonardo DiCaprio, Kevin Costner, Mark McGrath, Dave Navarro, Sebastian Bach, Ashley Hamilton, Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Orgy's Jay Gordon, and many more. Who's got the most titanic dick in Tinseltown? Whose bedroom did Bobbie (literally) set on fire? No man was off limits as the fun-loving bombshell spiraled into excess, anger, and addiction. Bobbie survived the party - barely - and her riveting, cautionary comeback tale is filled with the wildest stories of sex, drugs, and rock and roll ever told.

A pleasant surprise
Any additional comments?
I've read a lot of autobiographies and I have to admit this one surprised me. When I heard her mention revenge in the first chapter, I thought she was going to tactlessly air out other people's dirty laundry but she is equally hard on herself. The other autobiographies I've read are all peppered with wishy washy "love yourself" self-help reminders that don't seem to be coming from the heart and just seem like a way to fill up space and gloss over the tougher details of their life that they do not want to share with others. Of course it is one hundred percent understandable that they wouldn't want to share private details but as a result the books seem more like a money grabber. We can get a brief summary of anyone's life from a magazine interiew. Bobbie fearlessly bares herself and teaches everyone else the lessons she learned in the process.

I had no idea who she was - and loved it anyway!
Would you consider the audio edition of Dirty Rocker Boys to be better than the print version?
Hearing her voice. Her audio inflections of outrage, sarcasm, or subtle disgust come in loud and clear. I felt like I was hearing a story told by a good friend over a drink or five.
What did you like best about this story?
I love her humility. She started out on top with everything handed to her, and when things go wrong, she has a dark but very human sense of humor about it.
Which scene was your favorite?
Davd Navarro's "introduction tape".
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was especially glad that her child came out alright.

Not Exacly What I Expected
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, This book gives a insider look into the rock lifestyle of the time. Bobbie doesn't hide things because she doesn't want to make someone mad or to make herself look better. Everyone's flaws are out on the table and so are hers.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dirty Rocker Boys?
Bobbie is so transparent in this book that you can really get a feel of the ups and downs in her life. She is also careful to tell her story from her perspective. Others are discussed in detail but she doesn't really speculate on their story as much as her perspective and experience.
Any additional comments?
I love reading biography or autobiography types of books. You can tell when a book is written on the fly or with certain things omitted or glossed over so that the person telling the story is seen in a better light. Bobbie doesn't hold back her own short comings and you can tell what she has learned from her experiences and how she really feels about everything around her. Is she a saint? Hell no. But is she just cold hearted and out to get everyone, not really. This is a down and dirty book and I loved it.

LOVED IT!
I'm embarrassed to say I had really low expectations for this book, but thought it would be a fun read anyway remembering my own days on the Sunset Strip. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I usually can't stand it when the author is the narrator. This book is the absolute exception to this rule. Bobbie Brown did a phenomenal job narrating this. You felt like you were right there with her. I think she's missed her calling. I would listen to her as a narrator on other books as well. She was THAT good.
As for the story... where to begin? I have no clue how she managed to pack so much into less than 6 hours. She found a way to make the stories fun and at times gut wrenching, too. You really felt like a friend of hers living it with her. Also, I can't say she threw anyone under the bus really. YES she spread dirt on many a "dirty rocker boy," but not in such a way as to make you feel like she sold anyone out. She spoke her mind about some of the different nasty girls from Hollywood, but I never felt like it was a cheap shot. I'm pretty sure I'll have to read this one again.
My only complaint.... is that the book was too short. I would have gladly listened to another 6 hours :-)

What made the experience of listening to Dirty Rocker Boys the most enjoyable?
Ummm....where do I begin? The entire thing was like a roller coaster ride.
What other book might you compare Dirty Rocker Boys to and why?
I can't even think of one.
Have you listened to any of Bobbie Brown’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES!
Any additional comments?
A little sad that it took her so long to get healthy as a person and a mother.

Bobbie Jean Brown's Prerogative
I was never a fan of hair metal. Okay, that’s a lie. I liked a few bands because it was a requisite of being teenager in the 1980’s. But, I think I did it to fit in or due to peer pressure… there had to be a reason. Anyway, I bought this book because I love biographies, I love stories about small-town kids reaching for their dreams and I love it when an author has the nuts to read their own story. This book hit enough of the right notes to convince me to buy it.
I’ll start by saying, for the most part, I enjoyed this book. But, there are a few things I’d like to warn you about. When Bobbie is reading her story, she’s on fire and injects herself into her story telling – she is a great narrator. However, when she’s reading words like abhorred and hubris, she stumbles and the narration falls on its face. I think I can pick every word that Caroline Ryder put in this book. Caroline was essential for helping Bobbie piece together Bobbie’s extremely chaotic life, but she should have kept the SAT words out of Bobbie’s mouth. On the rare occasion Bobbie pronounces them correctly, they stick out like speed bumps and left me wincing.
Kudos to Bobbie for her candor, but I didn’t end up liking her very much. I don’t think I can like someone who gets even, takes revenge and plainly discussed EVERYTHING about her loves/lovers. It felt bad. It made me feel bad. There is a way to tell a lurid story and be candid, without being this graphic, especially at someone’s expense. She made no additional friends in the telling of her story. I am glad that she didn’t completely tell Jani’s story, showing some discretion and humanity, as it clearly was extremely painful to him and something he didn’t want shared.
I’m happy that Bobbie has found something to live for other than drugs and the worthless men she has spent her life attaching her wagon to. Being beautiful is not earned and this woman seems to have learned a valuable lesson about what life is really like for mere mortals.

Was free so I gave it a shot, but it was awesome!
Just finished this. Have been hooked on it all weekend. Brilliant tales of excess and inches from sunset strip, a place that I will always hold dear in my heart. This is up there with the best rock biogs, and wonderland avenue. Give it a listen. Well done Bobbie Brown!

It's no fun competing with your 20year old self , and this story shows why xx

Honest and well written
Too walk a mile in someone else,'s shoes. You read mags like hello that sell an image but this is real life. The good the bad and the ugly.
I was rivited to this story and listen to it in one day. Emotionally honest. Wishing Bobbie all good thing's in the future x

A kiss and tell cautionary tale
Why would anyone put this wild behaviour out there for everyone to see, her mother was right, don't hang your dirty washing out for everyone to see. Not a good look or a good book, Beauty is such a curse.

Brilliant audiobook
A very honest and in depth look in to a rock and roll life. Really well narrated. No holds barred. I fell upon this without knowing who Bobby brown is, but I’m glad I did. Brilliant read for anyone who feels life can sometimes kick you hard that you can’t get up, Bobby j brown shows that you can always get back up.

viva le rock!
Amazing trip via Bobbie Browns adventures into Sunset Strip Hollywood 'hairbear' rock roll fantasy. She narrates perfectly her story with a truth and genuineness. Like your BFF talkin to you about their past ups and downs. I loved this book.

Eye opening
Bobbi's story is a picture of what most of us can only dream and wonder about. While I have not followed her career, the men she mentions have been on the fringes of my music perception. And the Rock they made... A similar age I was fully engaged while Bobbi read her story, at times funny, at times incredibly sad, but I felt, always real. It must be age cause I too tear up too easily these days and as a guy, I feel strange admitting that..... If you have any interest in the lives who have shaped and helped shape the Rock generation of the 80s/90s, you should read this book. Better yet, do what I did , buy the audio book and have Bobbi read it to you. Cheers Brad.

Don’t bother, bad, bad, bad
Like previously mentioned, this is just her name dropping to try and appear interesting. She seems proud of her disgusting existence

Glad it was free
A series of trainwrecks from the vapid clique. Bonus that Bobbie Brown read the book but the way she struggles with words suggests that she didn't write much of it. Still, it was entertaining in parts and included in the subscription.

Was so juicy and I liked how she read it out herself. Glad she is thriving now

Name drop Central.
Basically a story of a washed up 'it' girl who runs out of money, drugs & famous men to leech off and then can't figure out why nobody takes her seriously a decade later.
Bobbie's book is merely her attempt to name drop as many celebrities as she can in an attempt to seem relevant.
This book has the depth of a Petri dish.
An interesting enough way to waste 5 or so hours but there is no substance to this book whatsoever.
Not awful. Not great. Just meh.

Amazing, insightful insiders view of the scene. Two sides to every story and teaches you there’s often reasons behind the way everyone’s life is shaped and turns out. Kudos to you Bobbie and thank you! xx

wow. as a fan of some of the dudes she was with it was good to read about her. it's amazing how she looked for someone to tell her the truth.
Janie lane was a great musician but a victim of toxic shame about his past. always a story behind it

Lauren Weedman is not okay. She's living what should be the good life in sunny Los Angeles. After a gig as a correspondent with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, she scored parts in blockbuster movies, which led to memorable recurring roles on HBO's Hung and Looking. She had a loving husband and an adorable baby boy. In these comedic essays, she turns a piercingly observant, darkly funny lens on the ways her life is actually not okay.
