Story
This rape case is different from most: the victim is more than willing to testify and there's ample evidence to put the suspect behind bars. But one thing gnaws at Detective Larry Millsaps - young and beautiful Melissa Nelson knows too much about the evidence needed to convict her attacker. Millsaps's investigation unearths the suspect's brutal track record, but also some stunning revelations about Melissa's own past. Caught in a deadly conflict between the ironies of the law and the demands of his Christian convictions, the detective finds himself protecting Melissa - even as evidence mounts that could imprison not only an inhuman criminal, but also the woman Millsaps has come to love.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-seller Blackstock delivers a gripping suspense about the deadly consequences of a husband’s lies.

Devastated and traumatized, she answers hours of questioning, then returns home to break the tragic news to her sons. But a threatening voicemail escalates this from a random shooting to a planned, deliberate attack.
Juliet realizes that she and her children are in danger too - unless she meets the killers’ demands. But as she and her sisters untangle the clues, her husband’s dark secrets come to light. The more she learns, the more her life is dismantled. Was her husband an innocent victim or a hardened criminal?

Distortion
What made the experience of listening to Distortion the most enjoyable?
The narrator was excellent. Very easy listening.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Most definitely. There were unexpected villains, life and death injuries. Also poor Julliette as she found out what was behind her husband's murder.
Which character – as performed by Nan Gurley – was your favorite?
I couldn't choose a favorite. All were excellent.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The entire ending was phenomenal.
Any additional comments?
I'm looking forward to hearing more books by this author and other performances by this narrator.

Loved the Story... but why the switch???
What made the experience of listening to Distortion the most enjoyable?
Disappointed in the change in narrator. I was driving a long ways so I stuck with it, but almost hurled the iPod out the window going over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Absolutely. I think the story's even better than the first one.
What didn’t you like about Nan Gurley’s performance?
Uh, I don't want to be mean, cause we all have to eat, but BIG difference in audio quality, sound and acting ability. Recording seemed echoey, kinda tinny. (Wow, am I getting snobby now! Sorry!) Why the switch? You start a series with a solid narrator, and you switch? Seemed like just a reading, not a performance.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Love the sisters' relationship, they make me laugh and reminds me of my own family; but again, this reader seemed distant. Her writing is better than ever.
Any additional comments?
Terri Blackstock is the best mystery Christian writer I listen to. Go back to the other narrator or one of equal talents. Give Truth Stained Lies a listen, Otherwise, I'm buying only a hardcopy of the next installment and not the audio.

Great Story Bad Narrator
I enjoy Terri Blackstock's books and this story was a very good one. I struggled to finish it and almost quit more than once. The narrator's tone never changed. she didn't change for different characters at all. I struggled through the entire book with listening to her whine every single. I am disappointed because the story is good and deserves much better. 😔

OK, but parts of it not believable
I enjoyed book one in this series, but agonized through this book. The narrator was not as easy for me to follow as she did not do the different voices that clearly (at least for what I'm used to). This did not feel like a Terri Blackstock book to me as I didn't feel it was as well researched and situations were not realistic. The fact that the family's little PI group was getting into places before the police and FBI was not realistic to me. It was tolerable, but not one I'd recommend to someone.

Very Enjoyable
I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one of the T Blackstock books I’ve listened to so far and I plan on listening or reading all or hers at some point. The ending was great! The reader did a pretty good job. I wasn’t unhappy with her at all, but I think some of the male voices could have been better! The story was captivating and well rounded with a very good ending. Enjoy!
