Publisher's Summary

Poppy is settling into life in an English village and gaining some green fingers at last as she restores the beautiful cottage garden nursery she's inherited. When she meets a wealthy dog lover at the village fête and is hired to create a "canine scent garden", the future looks rosy...until the day ends with a vicious killing, and she finds herself spade-deep in a murder investigation once again.

Meanwhile, Einstein the terrier has fallen head-over-paws for a pampered poodle, and Poppy has her hands full keeping him out of trouble. With vandals attacking her cottage and orders for flowers flooding in, she barely has time for sleuthing! But when unexpected help comes from her mad scientist neighbor Bertie, as well as crime author Nick Forrest and his talkative cat Oren, Poppy is sure she's found the killer.

The only problem is - with false clues and suspects galore, could she be barking up the wrong tree?

Love this series!

I love all of H.Y Hanna’s series, and this is no exception! I enjoy these characters and the antics they get into, mixed with just enough humor, charm and mystery!

Hilarious!

I was laughing out loud throughout much of this book. Bertie is easily one of my favorite characters. He's hilarious! What a character. <3 There were times I was vocally upset over Poppy's choices, but in the end, her choices turned out to be for the best, so I was happy again. My favorite book in the series so far!

Thouroughly Enjoyed One

I loved the descriptions of the gardens. So English.
The manor character was so ridiculous she seemed cartoonish. However this only added the lighthearted tone of the book. I really had a chuckle at some parts. Such imagination! This was just what I needed. I’m enjoying all of H.Y. Hanna stories, and Pearl Hewitt is the perfect narrator. Perfect voice for all of the stories. I look forward to listening to more!

Once again a winner. And some puppy love. Pearl narrates beautifully. Poppy and Birdie had me in stitches. Love this story.

I love and hate all Hanna's books.

I was hoping this series would improve. It is a delightful story, but Poppy is too stupid to be believable . She makes the same mistakes over and over without learning from them. The other characters carry the book by being amusing and interesting. The cat is wonderful, but I would personally like to murder Poppy because she is so dense and lacks any shred of common sense. I find myself shouting "No, you dolt! Haven't you learned yet!

I'm done I think

Poppy is clever enough to solve murders however she's too Daft to prune lavender properly. She can't think on her feet when she's in a pinch.I think the writer is trying to make her seem inexperience ingenue but she just comes off as daft to me.

Fun Series

Poppy is attending the village feat when there’s another murder. It’s the niece of the woman who hired Poppy to do a canine scent garden in her backyard. The characters and animals are all up to their antics. Great fun.

Great series. Loads of fun.

A thoroughly enjoyable third book in the series.
The mystery had me guessing and I really enjoyed watching Poppy develop her business and become part of the community. I thought the idea of a scent garden for the dog was a cute and interesting idea.
I love the side characters in this series especially Bertie and Nick as well as their four legged friends.
This a fun series that gets better with every book.
I'm looking forward to reading book four.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading audio copy.

enjoyable but repetitive

works just like the previous one's, helps me chill out, and a tiny bit of suspense, but polly spends too much time over thinking! I love the characters though, berty, nick, Suzanne, and polly, nell, orin & Einstein especially, love the cat & and its antics! 😵‍💫

Silly, Soppy, Sweet.

Irresistible listening despite being daft. The characters are eccentric. The plots are unrealistic. The writing is annoying at times. But I am hooked.

Getting silly now

I’ve listened to the first 3 books in this series & although they are gentle & easy on the ear - thanks to the great narration of Pearl Hewitt - the stories are getting sillier. I specifically refer to Bertie & his stupid “inventions”. At first I found his eccentricity amusing but while listening to this book I found myself getting irritated with the ‘mechanical ants’ & ‘dog poo listening devices with authentic smell’.

Although I already purchased the 4th book in this series some time ago, I don’t think I’ll be buying any more.

Nice and well narated

This series is not quite as good as the Tearoom series, it does not flow as well. But ok
