Publisher's Summary

Problem number one: Bootsy Howard.

Davis Way Cole lives a (relatively) quiet, (somewhat) simple, and (completely) witch-free life with her husband and twin daughters on the 29th floor of the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Until Bootsy Howard shows up demanding a million dollars.

Problem number two: Princess Smucker.

What was marketing thinking when they booked the Southern Canine Association's annual dog show at the Bellissimo? And what was Davis thinking when she agreed to let a dog stay with her? For a week? In her home? The home where she lives a (fairly) quiet, (reasonably) simple, and (totally) manicotti-free life?

Problem number three: Leverette Urleen, MD.

The last thing Davis needs is an unsolicited house call from Pine Apple, Alabama's latest excuse for a doctor. But since he's there, considering she has a dead body on ice, she might as well have him determine the cause of death. Which he doesn't. Nor is he any help finding the body when Davis loses it.

On top of all that, he won't leave, further disrupting Davis' (more or less) quiet, (to a certain degree) simple, and (utterly) seersucker-free life. A life that's about to go to the dogs. Unless Davis can learn a few new tricks. Fast.

2nd Time Was the Charm

I adore the Davis Way series by Gretchen Archer. If there were Davis Way swag, I’d buy it. A movie? I’d go see it and buy it on Prime. But the first time I read Double Dog Dare on Kindle, it didn’t enchant me like the previous books. Then I listened to the Audible version read by Amber Benson. She made me realize that I had plowed through it too quickly just to get to the solution. The audiobooks forced me to slow down and enjoy!

Another fun read

I really like this series, however, I felt that this book dragged in many places. I get that Vree talked a lot but we do not need to have it over used- it took away from the story in my opinion. This would not keep me from listening to this book but it did make me forward past parts.

Best yet

I've listened to this entire series and love it. This is the funniest one yet. I love that Davis stays interesting even as her circumstances change.

Cozy mystery lover

Plus, she allows the main characters to mature snd grow and become capable of of loving relationships, something Evanovich needs to learn. Minuses, there are too many irritating characters without any charm or purpose. She should keep the good husband, twins, best friend, sister, mother and dad characters. Lose ex ex husband, mother-in-law, etc…unnecessary characters with irritating voices.

I generally like when you get a little crazy but,

Why in the world would Davis continue to steal money when her sister was staying of her free will at the hotel, makes no sense, also the infectious dog was too much.

Not my favorite of the bunch

The story wasn’t very good and I cannot stand Fantasy’s voice. I love the narrator but she makes Fantasy the most annoying person to listen to.

Bad Narrator Hard to tell About Book

This is supposed to happen in Mississippi, but the narrator’s unrealistic attempt at southern accents was just so grading that I gave up on the book about chapter 4. There has been nothing to make a connection with the main character and the secondary characters are annoying. Just couldn’t listen any further. Solutions seem so easy that I just couldn’t get into the story.
