Story
"Something is murdering my men." Thus reads the message received from a Nazi commander stationed in a small castle high in the remote Transylvanian Alps. Invisible and silent, the enemy selects one victim per night, leaving the bloodless and mutilated corpses behind to terrify its future victims. When an elite SS extermination squad is dispatched to solve the problem, the men find something that's both powerful and terrifying. Panicked, the Nazis bring in a local expert on folklore - who just happens to be Jewish - to shed some light on the mysterious happenings.

An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Story
One of my dad’s favorite jokes about getting older was: “I went out for coffee when I was twenty-one and when I got back I was fifty-eight!” I get what he meant now. Time flies. My first book, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie Actor, was published back in 2001 and it chronicles the adventures of a “mid-grade, kind of hammy actor" (my words), cutting his teeth on exploitation movies far removed from mainstream Hollywood. This next book, an “Act II” if you will, could be considered my “maturing years” in show business, when I began to say “no” more often and gravitated toward self-generated material. Taking stock in the overall quality of my life, I fled Los Angeles and moved to a remote part of Oregon to renew, regroup and reload. If that sounds tame, the journey from Evil Dead to Spider-Man to Burn Notice was long, with plenty of adventures/mishaps along the way. I never pictured myself hovering above Baghdad in a Blackhawk helicopter, facing a pack of wild dogs in Bulgaria, or playing an aging Elvis Presley with cancer on his penis - how can you predict this stuff? The sheer lunacy of show business is part of the fun for me and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

Publisher's Summary
Classic stories from the original masters of horror, including Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and Charles Dickens. Read by horror icon Doug Bradley with music and sound design by Alistair Lock.
This volume features William F. Harvey's original undead hand story "The Beast with Five Fingers" that sparked many movies, including Sam Raimi's "The Evil Dead". Poe's classic "The Tell Tale Heart" is joined by Lovecraft's creepy tale of alienation "The Outsider", and a chilling Dickens ghost story "The Signalman". Harvey's other selected story, "August Heat", asks a chilling question about a man's fate, and Saki offers something different with a tale of dead hunters returned from their marshy graves in "The Open Window".

Perfectly Chilling
Doug Bradley has the perfect voice to skillfully bring this collection of short stories by various authors, chillingly to life. Occasional, minimal sound design adds atmosphere, and sets the stage for each of the sinister tales. His delivery sounds not so much like he’s reading to you than that he’s telling you a personal story that he knows intimately.

Nice production-boring stories
The reader was phenomenal, the sound and music splendid. Couple of technical errors I heard was the reverb shifting in room size. The stories though I thought quite boring, especially the long last one which could have been told in 15 mins. I did like The Outsider though, as its a favorite HP Lovecraft tale of mine.

Good selection and extremely well read
Very much enjoyed this selection of audio books. I find these early horror stories interesting and am a fan of the H P Lovecraft inspired works. Downside is it is a bit short however I wouldn't say the price is too high. I have listened to collection 7 of this series and shall go through them all of they are so good.
