Publisher's Summary

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

First published in 1897, Dracula is an epistolary novel, meaning that the narrative is related through letters, diary entries and newspaper articles. The story is brought to life in this Audible production by a group of actors that you might recognise from TV and film: Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Theo James (Divergent series) and Jason Watkins (The Crown).

If you’re in the mood for more gothic classics, check out The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde performed by Pappa Essiedu and Frankenstein performed by Jamie Bell.

Best Audible addition

This one is far better than most.
I've waited for a British multi-cast narration of Dracula for a long time. I love this one far more than the previous addition. I will be reading this again.

a bullet train with brake problems

The actors all did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

The story we all know and love, with LOTS of unnecessary drivel breaking up the suspense.

A classic come to life

I thoroughly enjoyed the different voices of the narrators. This book is absolutely worth the listen, even if you've already read it. The narration really brings the story to life and makes for an enjoyable listen.

I enjoyed it

Classic story and great performance, there’s one old British guy that’s a bit tough to understand but that might be the point and it’s very brief. If you enjoy suspense then listen to Dracula.

Incredible dramatization

They don’t make audiobooks these days like they used to! I’ve listened to over 125 books on audible and this is the only one that has such a high production value. This is a full length performance with an entire cast, sound design and musical score. Really makes you feel like you’re in the story beside the characters. I think the production crew truly did this classic novel justice. I want more! (Throws money at screen).

Good performance, but it is a VERY old book

First of all, set your expectations to the level for a book written in 1897. On that level, the book is pretty good, but the book is about 2 times longer than it needed to be for proper suspense in todays standards. Great voice acting by all of the different characters though, and I’m glad to have read it so that I finally have context for the many many movies made based on this book.

Anticlimactic

The overall performance of this book was great, albeit lacking some emotion. My criticisms are with the story itself. The writing is dated and it shows. It is redundant and slow at times. The female characters are pitiful and dependent. The amount of detail and the method of storytelling held my interest, but the climax was unexpectedly disappointing. It's undeniably iconic, but not a very rewarding way to spend my time.

You Will Thank Yourselves

I read this story a long time ago and loved it. I have tried a few audio versions of this, some single narration and others acted out. most have not put in the energy of these actors. Each one reading and sounding believable in their parts have properly bought this book to life again.

Amazing !

I have read the story in English and German and have seen a few attempts at making it into a film. But none has been so captivating as this enactment. Well done!

I thought people just liked it be ause it was old

This team of talented voice actors swept me away into this genuinly thrilling story. The time went by at a gripping pace, and the plot satisfied every curiosity. Even if Van Helsing does like his monologues.

Utterly compelling.

I read the reviews which were what made me want to read the story. I know the story, I’ve seen so many films, but this was in another league.
It was a fantastic story for listening to from start to finish; atmospheric, chilling, so beautifully written. I couldn’t wait to listen every evening. The use of different readers for each character completely brings the story to life and not one voice was out of place as they told the story.
I would recommend this book to everyone.

A classic

One of my fav books a wonderful story deserved of its status as a classic. The narration is excellent, each character is portrayed brilliantly and the performances help you to experience the rising sense of dread in act one or the mixture of horror and adventure as the story continues. In fact as the book comprises of diary entries and other types of correspondence this format really compliments it. Even if you have read this before I recommend trying the Audible version as I found it more enjoyable this way. Very much worth a listen.

Superb Rendition of Dracula.

This is the best version of Dracula I've ever listened to an unabridged reading narrated by different actors. All the the different narrators are good it's great to have the story read by the different characters as it gives new meaning to the story.

Great performance

Loved these voice actors and actresses. Really brings the story alive. A minor criticism is that Dracula’s voice is different in the final chapters than it is in the beginning, where the actor has an excellent accent.

Not bad. Wouldn’t listen to twice

I embarked on this title in a quest to listen to some of the classical fictional titles. In short it was okay though I didn’t quite love it. A dark novel which is credited to be responsible for our modern day view of the vampire it’s story line didn’t quite capture my imagination. The narration is okay but I’m not a huge fan of multiple narrators especially when they seem to exaggerate accents.
