Publisher's Summary

Not everyone managed to survive the bloody battle. The strong, the brave, the courageous, and the good all fell with honor. The war spared few and took away many of the best . . .

Hadjar Darkhan was one of the few who survived and is now ready to continue his journey. The battle is over, and the dead have been sent on their last journey. The unknown and the perils of the imminent war are still waiting for Hadjar. He can sense that his life is about to be filled with the clang of weapons and armor and the beating of war drums. He hates war! But he also longs for it . . . Is there anything worse than war and battle?

Maybe. . .

The endless political maneuvering of the two Empires, which they are trying to draw Hadjar into, is definitely not what he needs right now, especially after losing his loyal companion and true friend in battle. A friend he realized he had only after his death . . .

Waste of a Good Character

The first half of the book had your typical Dragon Heart goodness, but then took a big twist which ruined a good side character (Azrea) and made Hadjar dumb and frustrating.

Stop Turning MCs into Walking Vaginas

The MC has had one goal for every book, to get stronger. Now he is consisting questioning this goal, has become indecisive and weak. Why ruin him after 12 books add turn him into a living beta clown.

Not my favorite of the series.

Dark times ahead for our hero. I suppose that is the way it goes for this stubborn swordsman. Still good battle scenes. The supporting cast still shines.

Good Series but this book is fecal material

some spoilers maybe?

1-MC is getting too soft for the cultivation world.
2-MC has no idea where his life is going after 12 book of development and progress only to now second guess his future and kick away Azeria whos been with him since day 1 for a half breed that literally shows up out of nowhere/tried to kill him in the past and i honestly dont know why.
3-MC is from a planet callee Earth that this new world has no idea about while having an AI Machine in his head and MC doesnt care about finding out how he got here or why he got here and said sex it I wanna mope around all book and be mortal bc mortals can lead a good life free of the pains of cultivators only for something to happen to his beloved that makes him get up for the next book
4-He wouldnt say yes to get the flame bc he didnt want to lie and bring dishonor to his son, so hed rather do a bunch of killing and convoluted schemes to kill his "daughter"

all in all 1/5 stars, hope the next book wont be as annoying to listen to, hope mc wont drop friends/family for pointless characters

hands down one of the best books of the series

This one really confused me as it started. I went to be see if I missed a book as it just didn't make sense until several chapters in. I was really impressed at the story arc on this one; it was nice to see that the MC can use his head as well as his sword. I really didn't see this one ending where it did; this one was just fantastic. The other books had sections that made if my favorite, a cool fight here, a cool task, etc.; this is my new favorite and it's the entire book. I really can't provide the review this one deserves; hands down one of the best books of the series.

I HATE MORAL QUANDARIES

I love this series but this book is literally all about moral quandaries and why do I have this power. Very annoying and I just want him to progress, which he does, but in the most annoying way possible.

I cannot recommend this book.

I have never had a book this short take so long to get through. it is full of needless and frankly frustrating details that add nothing to the story. very bummed as this series has been one of my favorites up to this point.

great addition to the series

definitely a bit on slower paced side of things than other books. but i think it's still a great book and furthers the storey meaningfully.

I can sort of see why some people are upset about Azria (spelling?) but I think it's an interesting way to move the plot ahead.

so much of this felt unnecessary.

this author has a real habit of finding ways to regress their character either physically or in their mentality only for him, a book later, to get back to where he started. it's a constant one step forward two steps back, three steps forward, five steps back.

Did not make sense

I really don’t like what was done with Azrea, she deserved better and what happened shouldn’t of…

Not best work

Idk look if you are still here I bet you love this series like I do. The problem is I felt like a lot happened in this book and at the same time nothing really moved forward felt like a filler episode.

Favourite series

Favourite series and favourite narrator, highly recommend haven’t found a better series so far and the narrator is made for this series, wouldn’t be the same without him. Excellent job by the author aswell, best in the game.
