Its really good, however;

This book is really good! Their are answers provided for many things. And many threads are tied off, such as situations as the ending of the previous book, Tam and even Rezkin's abilities. Both the lore and character development is progressed across all fronts positively.

The issues that seem to pop up are similar to the last book's problem. One being, some events and in particular the ending, seemed to be rushed. This isn't always a problem but when you compound it with where the book ended, it leaves many characters status ambiguous to each other. Many people like to say it's cliffhangers in general that are unlikable, but that is not really true. Most multi-part series end in cliffhangers (save the final entry). The reason I did not personally like this book's ending was the same reason I didn't like previous entries ending. In fact, they are very similar in that regard; the status of the MC is ambiguous to every other character in the main cast and one of the cast's fate is truly ambiguous. Where as comparatively the first three entries in the series also ended in minor cliffhangers. The difference is that the main characters status was NOT ambiguous to each other. It was only the story's direction, as the group had similar and different tribulations but their statuses were known within the group to each other when the story concluded.

These last two entries just pause in ambiguity for nothing more than fake suspense but good books don't need that. The first three didn't. It's frustrating, but peoples, whether fiction or not, lives don't pause even though their situations might. That's why the first three books left a positive satisfactory note comparatively to the last two books. In the early books, the group's future fate was unknown but their status to each other wasn't paused. When the author decides to end a book like this, it almost feels like the book ended mid-arc. The arc wasn't truly finished until the aftermath is settled, not during the after action report. Their is no closure. The concern also stems with; will the wait for the next entry be just as long for similar results?

Again, the book was really good. I enjoyed it! I especially loved the new and different characters. I feel that the world is large and interesting enough with the main character also amazing enough to continue even after the originally series wraps up. The book was still very entertaining and I love the characters (not Frisha haha) and the world. 4.3 Stars!

That being said, people dislike the ambiguous cliffhangers. Especially with the current fad of short quick media summarization styles and eastern influences like manga/light novels where stories are separated by arc's with starts and conclusions within each arc. It's why people love the first 3 books or Tolkien or the Harry Potter books, a complete arc within each book even with overall story cliffhangers at the end. Even the title of this book introduced a powerful subject matter that never actually fully concludes but just segues into future possibilities, leaving some frustration.

Don't waste your money. it's going to take four mo

The best part about this book. it's Nick hodell but for a 4-year wait long years of them writing other books that are only half-ass and then it's just too long and this book seems just a drag times. The first two were just so good. I don't know what happened

Ridiculous ending.

Why would the author think this is a good way to end a book. No way I read the next book. I can’t believe I used a credit on this. The author literally wrote this book to ruin everything that was good from the previous books. It was a well written travesty. Too many people have been inspired by the George R. R. Martin style. Not every nook needs to end terribly. Don’t you think there is enough negativity in real life. We read these books to escape the hopelessness of real life and enter a world where the good guys actually win. If I wanted to experience the bad guys winning, and good men being corrupted, I’d read the newspaper.

A good, not final, book in the series.

A lot of reviewers so far seem upset with the ending as if this is the last book; it isn't and to think otherwise is absurd. The plot moved on, characters developed, some questions were resolved, and as so many others are upset about it left off with cliffhangers.

I look forward to the next, and possibly last book in the series to come.

I’m done

There was some interesting stuff in here
But it been two or three years since the author of written a book in the series and to be honest for me the momentum ended in the last book

It wasn’t bad I think I just lost interest in the story

As long as this doesn't end the series it's decent

The characters are a little predictable. it's not a bad thing, I don't mind being able to guess where we're heading.

Some of the dialog is repetitive at times.

Tam and Wesons Arc is well considered.

Rez I'm 50/50 on if there's a final book that ties up the relationship between all characters I'll be satisfied. If this was the end of the series I am not.

Nick was great as always.

I'm not sold on the ending though it made this book feel like the middle book of a 3 book series and it's not.

Here's hoping for an exciting conclusion and more in the series.

Still love the story keep at it Kel.

A good story poorly executed.

Showing that Rez could grow emotionally and learn new skills was a fantastic idea. It allowed for more possibilities and to see how he could use them for his plans. Then it just didn't feel like I was listening to the same series anymore. The complete 180 from how we're used to characters reacting to situations and the outcomes being what they are.

Nick put on a great performance

This is where the series concludes for me. The end could leave options for future books I guess but it also seems like it could just be a spite ending so people will stop asking for more and Kel can go and write their other series

disappointing considering the long wait

I have loved this series from the first book and was desperate to get hold of book 5.

Honestly, I think the way the author treats this series as a chore is what put me off. years to release one. who knows how long the next one will take.

no wonder kel kade feels like finishing books in this series is a chore. more than 50% of this book was uneccessary overcomplicated world building. Just get on with it. I actually really enjoyed the last 3 hours of the book but had to struggle through all previous hours to get there. Most of which was not relevant. what about all our other favourite characters from the thieves guides or general Markham? not even touched on. sad really...

I will setting a timer of 12 months for the next book to come out. if it has not then I will be dropping this series.

if anyone wants a good series with an author that produces quality at speed then have a look at "Path of the ranger". 14 books in under 4 years.

I really hope kel kade listens to her fans and produces another in a reasonable time frame or I fear she will lose more than just a couple.

Nick, performance was great as always!

Hmmmmm

I'm not sure what to make of this 1 it feel's like for the long wait time between books it could have been better, I think it's like a mix between book 3 and book 4 for action and development.

SPOILER

The ending just felt off after such a build up from the 5 books only to have this outcome is not what we have been lead too, i think the Author just cut the end of the book off like he thought he could add it to book 6 instead.

disappointed, the story was drawn out.

The story seem to have lost its intensity. either the writer "Kel Kade" has lost interest in the series or wrote herself into a corner due to the complexities of the third book, hope the next book can remedy it. but that is if we get a next book.

I can’t wait for book 6!

I am a bit disappointed that Reskin didn’t come across as as powerful as he was in the previous books and I do miss the emotionless reskin that didn’t care for romance and relationships. This is why I didn’t give this book 5 stars. That being said, I still enjoyed it and felt that it was building up to book 6 where we will hopefully see reskin undertake some of the amazing feats that I felt were lacking in ‘Dragons and Demons’

Absolutely trash

Another book of added random main characters, added random magic's never before discussed, more fantastical creatures and ever building stakes. Except there is never any resolution to anything in 5 books. Everything done in previous books means nothing, the stakes are ramped up bigger to completely undermine any importance of the things before.
Characters are just forgotten plotlines are just left dangling only to be supplanted by something bigger, then BIGGER, THEN BIGGER AGAIN!.
Absolutely trash.

I mourn what this series could have been

I read the first two books in this series and loved them. I thought I had found an amazing series.

Sadly book three changed all that. It all went down hill after that.

Had the surgery stuck with the world building from book one and two the series would have been amazing. Instead it seems they have continued on with no real plan except to find ways to add in all the tropes. Dragons, elevens, demons. Sadly they are just added to the story as though on the whim taking away from the story instead of adding to it.

I have continued to read the stories hoping the authors will come to their senses and bring the books back to their original greatness. Sadly this book proved that will not happen so I mourn the loss of a possibly great series that never got to be.

Awesome

Another awesome book in the series. Read so well by the American narrator. Was an easy listen as the narrator spoke with good clear English pronunciation unlike many American narrators who have terrible English pronunciation. Fabulous storyline and cannot wait to listen to book 6.

Practical sensationalism

This highly anticipated continuation of Reskins tale did not dissappoint. All the beloved characters continue to grow and develop into their own story allowing the reader to immerse themselves further into this world. I am keen to read more as it is released.

About time

Enjoyed as much as the first 4, just hope that the wait isn’t as long for the next. Not sure about the ending, just hope that Reskin isn’t about to turn away from all of those that he has worked hard for. His character deserves some happiness.

Kel Kade’s back baby

One of the biggest issues with the last two books was pacing. I’m happy to announce that it has been corrected in this book. It’s a brilliant addition to the series and really felt like several books in one. The narrator is perfect, as he has been for the entire series.

If you’re wondering whether you should continue after book 4, wonder no longer. This is definitely a must read. I hope this quality continues into book 6.
