Publisher's Summary

Tennis has been very good to sports agent Myron Bolitar. He represents two of the hottest young stars in the game. But when his female player is murdered in broad daylight at the U.S. Open and his male player becomes the prime suspect, Myron's got a whole new match to win. His investigation leads to an old murder, the mob, a crooked senator, a jealous mother, and someone who's determined to shut down his search for good.

In novels that crackle with wit and suspense, Edgar Award-winner Harlan Coben has created one of the most fascinating and complex heroes in suspense fiction, a hot-headed, tender-hearted sports agent who grows more and more engaging and unpredictable with each page-turning appearance.

Critic Reviews

"The prose is lean, the story moves briskly, and the dialogue crackles...great fun in the best 'hard-boiled' tradition." (Houston Chronicle)

Funny, Intriguing, and Engaging

My favorite Coben book yet. Myron and Wynn are at their funniest, the tennis scene makes a nice backdrop, and the mystery keeps you guessing. The author does an excellent job as usual. I really enjoyed listening to this book.

Whoa! Kew-el Kickoff. Myron Bolitar! Yea!

Terrific ensemble cast. Perfect read. quick plot. Start with this... then get the next. I will... Check the next review... Hope it's as strong as this one. BTW. Bolitar is a sports agent. I am not a strong sports. fan. I mean I'm a man in America so I like some games, but not an addict. Thought I'd be left out. Wasn't. The sports world is to this novel as a hot arrangement is to a great melody. It makes the whole thing work. If this was an introductory novel... Let me repeat... Whoa!

i liked it

When I first started this book, I did not think I would like it. The tennis thing was weird, since I have no interest in it. The story took off though. I laughed out loud in several places and I really liked the dry voice of the narrator, he added to the story. I am going to continue listening to this series as opposed to reading the books.

Not a bad book but kind of boring

I have become a big fan of Harlan Coben. I know this was an older book, and he has come a long way since this one. It was a bit slow for me. None of the characters really develop to become likable. I am fine with most of them, but wouldn't be shocked or upset if one didn't survive till the end. I'm not a prude either, but the flirty sex talk was awkward, cheesy and totally out of place. I was happy to find a series I could settle into for a few books. I will likely give #3 a shot, but #1 was just okay, and this one was tough to finish. So if book 3 isn't a lot better I will tap out and stick to the more recent books.

Extremely disappointing

I have read many of this author’s books and have always enjoyed them. This book was not enjoyable whatsoever. It was shorter than the others, and I found the storyline and characters pretty boring. The book was made even worse by the tired, unimaginative and cliché ethnic stereotypes. Simply a waste of time.

I did like it, but it took a while to get into it I'd say

I'm Hooked On This Series

I started this series after listening to WIN. In 2022

It's a different narrator ,which generally would throw me off the book. Silly, but that's the way my brain works.
The narration although different was equally spot on in my opinion, and near enough on the Win character .
So I entered the world of Myron Bolitar.
So far I'm enjoying the series!

I really enjoyed this book

This book was enjoyable from start to finish. The ending was awesome, I couldn't have guessed it.
