Publisher's Summary
A story of passion, greed, secrets and lies.
Present day: A reclusive woman living in outback Australia receives a letter acknowledging a terrible secret from her past.
Thirty years before, she stole another woman's life. From the moment the letter is opened two women are on a collision course with destiny.
From the London pop scene, to the opera stages of Europe; from a tiny Greek island, to a stifling manor house full of secrets and deceptions; from the sun-drenched Queensland coast, to the silent outback; Angela and Ellie are two women both looking for something. One in search of her identity and her memory; the other in search of the love that she had and lost; theirs is a duet whose last note will not be sung until the heart-stopping climax, when a shadow from the past returns to claim them both.

Gosh that was a great story!
I listen to many audio books and try and do a little research and see what other reviewers are saying. This appeared to be a very new release and I couldn't find a great deal of information on it, so I want to let you know - WHAT AN ENJOYABLE STORY!!! It's a long sweeping saga that follows the lives of multiple, intertwined people, but not so many characters as to lose track. I don't want to ruin the story for anyone, so I won't give anything away, but I did not have the ending or the truth figured out! The story kept my interest all the way through. I became attached to the characters and wanted to know what was going to happen to them. The narrator is terrific! If you liked The Secret Garden and The Shifting Fog by Kate Morton - you will enjoy this sweeping family saga too (it's even better than The Shifting Fog 8-O ). It's well written. Characters nicely developed. VERY EXCELLENT ENJOYABLE BOOK! Looking forward to this authors' next adventure in print!

A little forced
I liked the book, but the way in the last hour or two all the characters fit together and their lives intersected felt forced. If that information had been revealed earlier in the book, the story might have evolved differently but been more satisfying. It's not a mystery and yet the new information revealed near the end made me feel as if I'd somehow missed that aspect. I like long books, so when I say it needed editing, it's not because I don't like to listen for 23 hours (I do) but the different threads unwound slowly. While it was clear that two of the characters needed to meet in the end, their relationship to the other characters was a surprise and not one that magically made everything make sense - but rather felt unnecessary and forced.

Awesome Narrator Makes Good Book Better
I enjoyed this book, but I think writers who compared it to Shifting Fog or Forgotten Garden were influenced more by Caroline Lee's wonderful narration than the quality of the writing. This is a book I would certainly recommend, but I don't think the writing can match the lyrical style with which Kate Morton spins her intoxicatingly suspenseful tales. You'll enjoy it more if you let it stand on its own merits, rather than expecting to find another unforgettable Kate Morton novel.

Not a believable story
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This long winded story is not believable and there are way too many discrepancy. The performance of Caroline Lee on the other hand is great, as always.
What could Kimberley Freeman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Make it more believable. The characters seems to be blind of what is going on.
Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have enjoyed a few of the books Caroline Lee has narrated. I like her style very much.
Was Duet worth the listening time?
sorry, no

Beautiful duet
I enjoyed this book immensely. While there are obvious comparisons to Kate Morton (partly due to Caroline Lee's narration, and possibly partially due to the fact that Kate Morton is listed in the acknowledgments as having provided insights into the novel), it is not nearly as multi-layered as KM's novels. It is, however, a well-written novel, with the noted exception of the ending. You read it, and you KNOW that there will be contrived coincidences, but by the time you get to that point, you care enough about the main characters that the coincidence does not bother you much.
Caroline Lee's performance is quite good here... her accents are a little contrived, but you never really run into problems deciphering who's speaking.
Enjoy this engrossing light read... well worth the credit.

If not for Caroline Lee, I wouldn't have finished
This audiobook is definite proof that Caroline Lee can make me listen to anything. Anything, really. Her soothing voice is so delightful to my ears, her narration skills so incomparable that I made myself go through all almost 20 hours of this novel.
It''s not a terrible novel and it is well written, but boy is it the biggest pile of cliches I''ve ever read! It''s actually just a very long Mexican telenovela from beginning to end, with the most unbelievable (I don't want to be unfair to the author, but she herself knows it; she says so in several different instances during the novel, how unbelievable the story is) series of coincidences linking two completely separate journeys (despite the connection) to the same continent so far apart as possible from the start. Not only geography works all so neatly, but also timing.
I can see many people falling in love with this tale, but for anyone who''s read a bit more it''ll just seem like more of the same old story retold.

I will listen to more from Kimberley Freeman
Would you try another book from Kimberley Freeman and/or Caroline Lee?
I have listen to Caroline Lee before, and I think she is awesome. As for Kimberley Freeman, she had me looking for other novels before I finished this one.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I want to be a spoiler, so I will say I liked how it all played out. I don’t think it was as predictable, and I liked getting to know each character. I will say it was slow at times, and there was a little something missing. Nevertheless, I liked it and I will find more from this author.
What three words best describe Caroline Lee’s voice?
Entrancing, Delightful, and Captivating. She really is one of my favorites.
Could you see Duet being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I could see this becoming a movie, or at least a lifetime movie. I’m not sure on the cast, but as long as they were convincing, it would be worth watching.

A good listen.
I love listening to this narrator and once again she bought the story and characters to life. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, plenty of content, almost two stories in one, and cleverly written so as not divulge the twist at the end too early. Very Bleak
This story was much too bleak for me I stopped it after a few chapters. One lot of tragic circumstances after another.
Well written but all the accents the narrator used were also hard to listen to.
