Story
Ryker only had one goal in his life right now: turn a certain adventuring guild into a flaming wreck while dancing merrily through the smoldering ruins. All for the chance to get back at a handful of people. It didn’t work out that way though. At all. He’d died, been forced into the body of an avatar, absconded with the queen as her castle fell to betrayal, kidnapped a little kid who is obviously more than he seems, and to top all that off, he killed his undead father. The smoldering ruins of the queendom have cooled, and Ryker has a task that is more than likely too much for him.

Story
Warner spent his days like almost anyone else. He got up, went to work, answered phone calls in a call center, went home, spent time with his daughter, and went to sleep. Only to repeat the pattern over and over and over. Life was as mundane as anyone could ever fear it to be. Today was the day that all that would change. On this day, his daughter Maya would be nearly fatally injured, plunging Warner into a world of paranormal creatures, monsters, and magic he’d never known existed. The only consolation is that he discovers he’s not quite human, either.

Story
Reports to write, forms to fill, coffee to drink, leads to run down. Gus’s life was a tedium and boredom he’d grown comfortable with. One that he sought out after he’d come back from his tour of duty. A detective in the paranormal investigations department. A job he could work day in and day out in relative peace. One cold and forgotten cup of coffee at a time. It was an environment that made some sense to him. At least in comparison to civilian life where almost nothing did. On top of that, it gave him a chance to hide what he was from the rest of the world.

Sameerixis, or Sam for those who actually know him, isn’t what you’d call normal. He’s a door-to-door salesman, of sorts. One that peddles wares, wishes, and whims to anyone willing to pay his prices. Prices that usually involve a few years of your life, maybe a handful of days, or a single night of pleasure that’ll cost a few hours. He’s an incubus that solves problems. Mental, emotional, spiritual, material, and anything and everything in between. Sam can provide an answer and resolution.

Story
Ash led a very normal life by his own standards. Right up until he was literally pulled into a portal that spat him out into another world. One that was full of martial arts. And martial artists who could use magic. Three years of living his life as one of the citizens, those without power, and Ash has figured out how to survive with his adoptive family and a lot of persistence. His goals in life have become to give back to those who gave to him. And he’d do whatever he had to to do that. Except Ash is about to get his life turned around again.

All Steve knows is that he’s apparently supposed to build a farm. At least that’s his only workable assumption. Given the number of farm-tools left to him. That and the massive number of sacks full of seeds. Unfortunately, this isn’t even the strangest part of this new life. Hidden inside the farm tools, Steve finds messages. Phillip had spent his life living by his mother’s code of honor. One she had instilled in not just him, but her household staff, her soldiers under her command as a general, and all his siblings. One that called to the familial bonds and the importance of putting those above all else. Second only to the land and the crown. If he was being honest with himself, Phillip valued that code of honor. It was something the Curis family was known for. An honorable military family led by a Duchess, Phillip’s grandmother.

Publisher's Summary
Ryker only had one goal in his life right now:
Turn a certain adventuring guild into a flaming wreck while dancing merrily through the smoldering ruins. All for the chance to get back at a handful of people.
It didn’t work out that way though.
At all.
He’d become the Count of Dungeon, made a hostage, married off to the false queen’s daughter against his will, and had his county made ground zero for a religious war.
To top all that off, the Dark Lord of the North wants to see Ryker personally.
The smoldering ruins of Dungeon have been cleared, the patterns reset, and Ryker has a task that is more than likely too much for him.
Hold Dungeon, and give Lauren, the rightful queen, some breathing room.
Warning and minor spoiler: This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, and a hero who is as tactful as a dog at a cat show. Listen at your own risk.

What's up with the harem?
I actually enjoyed the first book enough to try listening to the second, but enough is enough. The main character is running around having sex with every female character in the book. (come to think of it I believe ALL the other characters are female.) Now, this might sound awsome to all you horny 14 year old wankers out there, but I have to dossapoint you. There are no hot steaming sexscenes for you to fanatsize about. The author skips the graphic details, and rather focuses on the women praising the main man for what a great lover he is, and discussing how they can share him between them like the submissive little females they are. Feels like the author is overcompensating for something if you ask me. I smell Daniel Schinofen.

No need to continue reading this series
There are spoilers in my review, so reader beware.
First of all, I really enjoyed the first book. The main character was a likeable anti-hero who actively pursued the death of those who wronged him. The first book had a decent plot and everything was well thought out, at least I thought so. There were sex scenes that were interjected periodically but nothing that took away from the over all plot of the story.
Now, the 2nd book is the complete opposite of the first. 1) the MC has become a true hero and is trying to put his grudges aside for those he loves. However, a large portion of the book turned into a bad erotica story. Sex with his harem pervaded the story and really distanced me from the book. I found it a struggle to finish this book by about 1/2 way through because the sex scenes were added in at some of the most inappropriate times. I am not saying that having scenes like this takes away from a book and is bad, but the sheer quantity of the scenes and their placement within the story was what caused me to have issues. Ex: Trying to determine the best course of action on how to protect the dungeon and the town (also named Dungeon). He slaps together a plan, with very little thought on if this is the best plan or if there is room for improvement, so he can go sleep with his harem. Ex. Literally trying to run away from the Dark Church. They are hiding at night and trying to conserve energy before setting off in the morning. He is described as being completely exhausted, so instead of going to sleep, they have sex again.
It is these kinds of inappropriately placed sex scenes that bother me more so then the probably 20-30% of the book being dedicated to these scenes.

Just stop reading the series at this point.
Ok, so I don't mind harem books. But Reason please. MC meets several women and because he had 3 conversations with them and "was nice" they get married. more than 70% of this book is the MC just stating " I Love you and I will do anything for you" and then the women melt and agree to marry him. No reason other than that. The parts of the book that weren't bad harem was good but then some stupid cheesy line comes up and you just want to vomit. So much potential ruined because of too much bad reasonless harem.

this is a romance novel not a fantasy Adventure
if you like romance novels and unnecessary sex and people constantly professing their love for each other then you may like this book. If you are into beastiality, you will definitely like this book. If you are looking for part 2 of a fantasy Adventure series, you will be very disappointed by this book. The Dungeon barely comes up in this book and it is a very lazy attempt at keeping the dungeon in the story. the war changes directions three or four times and we have no idea how or why it happens. The dungeon becomes a joke when Riker is able to create dungeons wherever he wants. There is absolutely no difference between life and death in this book. There are actually even a couple of scenes where one person has sex with the other person's soul. If that's not bad enough, two of the characters get sexually excited by performing spells together. Enough is enough. This is nothing more than a romance novel involving one man and about eight different women and a minotaur all having sex with each other and delivering sexual innuendo lines every 30 seconds. I feel like I got cheated out of 2 credits. I bought what I thought was a fantasy novel and I ended up with a romance novel. The only thing missing in this awful awful book is Fabio on the front cover.

Love the author, hate this book.
I've enjoyed this Author's other books quite a bit, listening to them several times, even the first book in this series. This one started off pretty well, but there was a cringiness building over time that grated on my nerves and finally after the 8th hour of this book, I couldn't do it anymore.
There was a sincere hope that the story would outweigh the cringiness of the lovey-dovey, smoochy-woochy harem elements that just became too overbearing, but it didn't. I knew from the first book that there would he harem stuff in here and that was fine, but it takes over and the story is the backseat to a harem romance novel.
Sorry Will, I really tried.

Juvenile male harem fantasy became distracting
I enjoyed the first book and mostly enjoyed this second too. The performance is great. But I found in book 2 the everpresent male harem fantasy plot mechanics to be enough over the top to be distracting to my story immersion. In book 1 it didn't bother me much. I think teenage boys will love this, but mostly because they don't have enough real life romantic or relationship experience to realize just how unrealistically simplistic this presentation is. For us older guys, or for me at least, I just want to be immersed in a fun story. I don't mind sex or harems or generally whatever the author wants to portray as long as I can remain immersed in the good story because it is well supported. But in this case I kept seeing an angst-ridden teenage boy as author writing this or someone who was wondering if they could get more sales without much effort. Anyway I do love the grooming Minotaur and the Fairy Queen personalities. And where is the (not so)little dragon familiar?

Get ready for a pointless power fantasy
I liked the first book I really did but this one just keeps doing the same boring things for the entire length. The story has so many glaring flaws that I assume only a young adult wanting to day dream about being the MC would love it. Below is a few issues I have found but doesn't really spoil the story.
1) All the time that he flirts no matter the time I mean they do it no matter the danger or setting like they are all 16. The amount of time talking about how much he loves everyone waste so much time in the long run.
2) Magic became so dumb. He literally just cast a single spell and wins because he adds a leaching rune or how no other mages even slow or block his spells. The enemy mages never even seem to try or are so poorly trained they might as well be mooks.
3) There are basically no other male characters not to gripe but there are only 3 other named males who aren't trying to rape someone. Like none of the dungeon monsters wanted a male avatar or learn to like other people.
4) Never punished for all the risky crap they keep trying it's almost sad. No one learns to be careful or take less risk they stay doing the same things because everyone else is just so bad at magic.
All these things just add to a story I feel only someone in HS would love.

Surprisingly Bad.
I love the other stuff by this author, and I don't remember even the first book in this series having the same problems, but this is bad. The dialogue is cringey, almost all of it. It's like the author tried to sound smart by using way too many adjectives, adverbs, and anything to hyperbolize every moment. And not only are there too many words, many of them are used incorrectly. There is just so much cringe in this book. Just plain bad writing. Like I said, very surprising for this author. I will probably listen to the next hoping for a return to form and to see what happens in the story, but I wouldn't suggest this to anyone else.
The narrator is pretty good though it can be difficult to differentiate some of the voices and I think her male voice for the MC is kind of funny sounding, kind of too obvious that it's a woman putting on her deepest voice to sound like a guy.

No longer a fan of his work, I've finally given up
William D Arand's work has been an interesting piece of work. He was the only one of the few harem based authors I enjoyed reading. Why? his way of making an actual story fit alongside with character progression. Story's were entertaining and the characters felt like they were developing at a steady pace.
today I learned that William D Arand has lost the ability to write a good book.
I'll admit here, I only managed to listen to roughly to an hour and ten minutes before quitting entirely and here's why.
In the previous book and start of the second book(Spoilers from here on out), the protagonist had essentially just confessed to a number of things. Mainly: Being magically bound to a dungeon, sleeping with multiple women, betraying the false queen - to his wives.
The two wives, Diane and Adele felt obviously betrayed by this, and rightfully so. so what happens? "Oh we forgive you this time, but don't do it again! now let's get down and dirty."
Wat.
you. had. a. perfect. opportunity. for. character. development. and. you. didn't. take. it?
ok, so maybe you missed out here but we've still got roughly 13 hours of story left and we left on a war between two religions and the mysterious 'dark king of the north' has appeared. what happens next.
sex. just sex and constant mentioning that the protagonist is perfect. I'm not joking here, from getting "groomed" by a minotaur then repairing her with a simple spell. To sleeping with a hobgoblin after convincing her that her insecurities aren't that much of a deal. To almost sleeping with a fairy after brushing off a fairly IMPORTANT part of the dungeon!
we're an hour in an I'm desperate for some actual story progression and FINALLY! the protagonist is starting to develop an army and preparing to defend the rightful queen. For some time the protagonist and three of his love interests are actually trying to do something productive!
and the Mino the minotaur is trying to "groom" him again... COME ON!
And right here is when I quit, in the middle of this specific moment one minor thing popped into this scene that made me realise so much about why William D Arand won't improve.
during the "grooming" session Mino mentions that the protagonist hasn't got a "leaders voice". ok? why does that matter? The protagonist uses a magic spell and "ta da!" he has a Heroic voice.
Not a SINGLE time has his voice been mentioned as an issue in any circumstances throughout the story and suddenly we're changing it!? And I GENUINELY believe that this was written here because William didn't like the sound of the protagonists voice by Andrea Parsneau. Sure it wasn't the best voice in the world but really!? Are you that upset over a character having a slightly geeky voice? and then it hit me. The protagonist no direct flaws- and before you say "he can only cast a few spells." tell me this, when has that "flaw" been an actual problem in the book? has he tried to kill someone, only to run out of spells? tried to save someone's life but ran out of spells? no we only know it's the reason that he was kicked from the adventurers guild.
I get OP characters but even they have flaws. several books have done OP characters. a perfect example is Rezkin from Kel Kade's series "dark tidings". A character who is a master assassin, knows how to manipulate people but lacks common sense. women try to seduce him and he doesn't know what love is! That is a character that is OP but FLAWED!
There are probably more thing's that I could pick up on if I read the whole book like how there will be another heroine (s) that will jump into the protagonists bed, because why not? but instead I'll end with a quote that my English teacher taught me when I was in school.
"a flawless character, is a boring character."

well, that was a struggle.
I like this author.. I really do, I have listened to the other audio books available. Firstly let me say, the story is creative, the characters are relatable and narrative is quite good... however.. I found myself cringing and turned it off quite a few times, purely because of the bad sexual content.. I know I know.. there is a warning for it in the description.. but what they didnt warn I'd that it's like a 12 year old has attempted to write a 50 shades of grey aimed at teenage boys.. it's bad.. like really bad.. if you can ignore that stuff, then it's a good book.. but damn, it was a struggle.

Bloody Awesome book
William D Arand is one of the most talented and skilled author's. I enjoy this book in it's written form. But with the voice acting talents and skills of Andrea Parsneau. Who makes the characters and world come alive with her narration.
This book is a must to listen to and get lost in the story and world of the Dungeon....
12/10 stars ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆....
