Story
Have you heard of EMDR therapy? Although this therapy comes from the United States, more and more psychologists use it in many countries, since most psychologists are aware that when trauma exists, there is a disconnection between the past and the present, between emotions and cognition. This rupture makes conventional therapeutic approaches difficult, making talking or bringing up old emotions not only not effective, but sometimes it can even make the patient more sensitive. Explaining trauma is not enough.

That means I speak directly to you, without psychobabble. Instead I tell you why your brain is such a troll.

Story
People who have experienced a traumatic event may feel a wide range of emotions, such as anxiety, anger, fear, and depression. The truth is that there is no right or wrong way to react to trauma, but there are ways that they can heal from experience and uncover their own capacity for resilience, growth, and recovery. Psychotherapy is a crucial component of mental health treatment. Three of the most common approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Story
Trauma is an inevitable aspect of life. You or anyone you care about has almost certainly been through trauma, whether it was "big-T" trauma like mental, physical, or sexual assault, or "little-t" trauma like divorce, loss of employment, terrible childhood events, or any scenario where you seemed worthless, frightened, or helpless. But we can recover. It doesn't have to be a lifelong process. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that has been shown to help individuals recover from trauma and enhance their quality of life.

Story
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy has been used for over two decades to treat post-traumatic stress disorder, emotional trauma, and many signs (including re-experiencing, hyper-awareness, and flashbacks) of upsetting and distressing unprocessed memories in our brains. Whether we have undergone minor or significant trauma, and whether we are mindful of the roots of our problems, EMDR can desensitize upsetting and unpleasant thoughts, feelings, pictures, and emotions, and turn our negative beliefs around.

74 Reviews on October 6th, 2019. Impressive.
EMDR really helped me clear up several issues in my life. I was hoping that the book had some insight into how to make it work outside of a therapist's office. It did not.
First... this was read by a text-to-speach program. Zero inflection. The words were pronounced properly but ALL grammatical errors and/or anomalies were read without even an attempt at correcting them for the author.
For a self-help book, it wastes a lot of time on what clinicians should consider in their clients, and even their office space. Maybe that makes sense for setting up your DIY environment but I'm not seeing clients. If I did, I wouldn't learn how to from a 3 hour audiobook.
I might be about 100 titles into my Audible subscription and have never left a negative review. I have left more than a few positives. On the other hand, I've read reviews by people who've shreaded narrators and authors for producing work an order of magnitude better than this that I thought were just fine. I picked this up hoping to send it to a friend who I thought could.be helped by it, rather than 10 hours of Francine Shapiro. I thought wrong. I clearly didn't do my homework. The fact that 74 reviews were submitted in a single day without so much as a single '4' amongst them should have stood out like a sore thumb. Seriously, hire a better fake reviewer. Or if it's the author, just stop reviewing them yourself.
I was refunded my credit. Thank you Audible.

Fake sounding narration
From the beginning, this was impossible to listen to. The narration sounds forced, unnatural and monotenous. I fast forwared to a couple of different chapters and the tone did not change. This should be narrated as if a real and normal person was speaking, not as if it is an automated voice.

Badly written and narrated
Maybe this a translation because it’s language style is awful. The point of view shifts from ‘the patient will....’ to ‘ ‘you will....’ within one paragraph. I am a trained counsellor and I don’t believe this book is written by someone with professional understanding of this subject. Very disappointed with this purchase.
