With Unity formed, Gunnar feels like he's created a family like he's never had before. All that's left is to grow in strength, continue building in Edgewood, and maybe earn a little affection from Princess Adeelee. Nothing can tear him away from his friends and newly founded guild. It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

It's time to form a guild, gather resources, and earn the acceptance of the Edgewood inhabitants.
If only things were that easy....
The dark elves aren't thrilled about having humans in Edgewood, the mine isn't vacant, and you can't form a guild without at least a few guild mates.
Will Gunnar pursue Adeelee? Is Rachel still out there somewhere? And who is Jax exactly? Could he really be a Sparrow?

Good but missed Being Great
All the problems I have with this series could be fulixed by replacing the MC. He whines a lot and I wish I had read it instead of listened because the narrator does an EXCELLENT job of portraying this. Also his thought process in battle is so childish it is often hard to listen. He needs to invest A LOT of points in intelligence... The concept and story are excellent though and it is enough for me to keep listening because I want to know how it ends. If you get annoyed easily do yourself a favor and skip this series. But if you can get past its shortcomings it’s a good listen.

Another great book from Brody
Purchased this as soon as it became available after listening to the first book. The author did a good job with the story picking up where the last book finished off. The characters development through the story continues to grow and the MC does not become some kind of uber player which is good. The character leveling is consistent and not like other litrpg authors novels who feel the need to describe every stat levelling which happens nearly every other paragraph which is very annoying, Edward Brody has done a far better job with his novels than alot of other litrpg authors. Definitely looking forward to book 3. Pavi Proczko continues to do an brilliant job narrating the books I hope he continues to the other books in this series!

Terrific Litrpg
Far better than the self proclained king of litrpg, Aleron Kong and yet I think his is really good too.
Just wish these litrpg self publishers would get a real proof reader, which none so far have done.
Only downside is the rather silly Americanising of the language such as month, day, year. In what world does it go month before day followed by year. Small quibbles really but when listening instead of reading, they really stand out and spoil the narration somewhat.
This narrator was an excellent choice though, with good rythm, speed, volume and pitch as well as an excellent range across both male and female voices.
Looking forward to book 3.
