Publisher's Summary

Even though secrets lie off the coast of Rock Harbor, the truth will set Annie Pederson free—if it doesn’t kill her first. Return to the beloved town of Rock Harbor in the first installment of a new series by bestselling suspense author Colleen Coble.

Nine-year-old Annie Pederson’s life changed the night her sister was kidnapped. The two had been outside playing on a dock, and Annie never forgave herself for her role in her sister’s disappearance. Twenty-four years later and now a law enforcement ranger, Annie is still searching for answers as she grieves a new loss: the death of her husband and parents in a boating accident.

But Annie and her eight-year-old daughter, Kylie, aren’t the only people in the town of Rock Harbor whose lives have been marred by tragedy. While managing the property around the Tremolo Resort and Marina she inherited, Annie discovers a dead body floating in the cold Superior surf and begins to work with the sheriff’s office to tie the death to a series of other mysterious reports in the area.

At the same time, her first love, Jon Dustan, returns after nine years away, reigniting the town’s memory of a cold case he’d been suspiciously linked to before he left to pursue his orthopedic residency. For the sake of her investigation and her heart, Annie tries to stay away. But avoiding Jon becomes impossible once Annie realizes she is being targeted by someone desperate to keep secrets from the past hidden.

In this new series, bestselling romantic-suspense author Colleen Coble returns to one of her most beloved towns, where familiar faces—and unsolved cases—await.

Love Colleen Coble

I loved so many twists and turns but was disappointed with the ending. I felt like several issues were not completed. I almost felt like story was told and then just suddenly ended. Hopefully there will be another storyline that picks up where this left off because I loved the story

Loved this new story!

Colleen writes with detail, intrigue and flair. You can see the details and feel the emotions.
This story is no exception.
There are many interwoven characters and the plot thickens as the story progresses. Don’t skip a chapter!
It ends with a bit of a cliffhanger which isn’t my favorite but most things are wrapped up.

I love that the story uses characters from other books and you get to know them and the town better.
I do wish there was more detail at the end regarding the “bad guy”, his motivation and wish the author again wrapped up the tied in people as she ended the story. Listening to the story it was hard to recall the many people and interwoven details at the end.
Overall, loved the book and looking forward to the next!

Another good one

I love Colleen Coble's stories but can get tired of the forced religion. This one was more of the same. I am a Christian, but in her books she takes it way overboard for me. It disrupts the flow of the story. She also failed to do her research on Rochester, MN and Mayo Clinic. A red jaguar is considered ostentatious here too.

So enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book! I was so sad when it ended, and with some big cliff hangers as well! I can’t wait until the next one is released!

Odd story line

While listening I pretty much enjoyed the whole book. Except while Taylor was rummaging thru dresser drawers. She creeped me out. I hope to learn more about what happens in book 2.

Couldn’t handle the narrator

This book may have been good but I couldn’t handle the narrator and have decided to return it.

just not relatable

I don't know if it's the writing style or the way it is read but people don't communicate the way this book is read.
"I took a sleeping pill and wore my eye mask, not even a rock concert would have awakened me last night"
really?!! who talks like that?
also, there was a bit to much god and Jesus talk especially towards the end and it felt a bit preachy.
I won't be buying anything from this author again
