Publisher's Summary

Brotherhood and beer meets single mom and apple pie.

I am a riding contradiction. A scholar, a cynic, a brother, and a biker.

My name is Trunk. I’m smart enough to recognize the chip on my shoulder, and cautious enough to keep it right where it is.

I am a misguided romantic. A mom, a daughter, an agent, and a survivor.

My name is Jaimie. I’m strong enough to look after my family alone, and too stubborn to accept I don’t have to.

We make an odd couple - our differences obvious - but when hatred and danger threaten to destroy everything of value in our lives, we only get stronger.

Together.

Fantastic, I loved it!

Trunk, big, burley, lacking in social graces with a heart of gold and lust in his eyes for Jamie and Jamie alone. Jamie, divorced from an abusive chameleon with a horrific agenda and in hiding from his organization. Now a single parent, she’s just trying to make a good life for her and her young son. Freya Barker writes a riveting, timely story filled with rich, well developed characters and dialogue that not only rings true, but flows smoothly and effortlessly. The scenes are so descriptive that you can close your eyes and see the action as you listen to the marvelous narration. This story is disturbing and painful on so many levels, primarily because I am certain for some, this story is all to real. Thank you Freya Barker. Everyone needs to listen to this one. Five stars fabulous! I can’t wait for more in this series!

Emotional listen for me

I had a really hard time with this book because of the underlying social injustices. Given the world we live in right now, I couldn't help but get angry with some of the s4!t that this book brought up. It is a great story about racial inequality and how we should love each other, no matter what color we are or what sex we are. This book really brought out my emotions on the subject. I have friends that are mixed races and others who are same sex. To me, it does not matter. But to others it is the greatest sin. I just don't understand why people think they can pass judgement and mete out punishment when nothing wrong has been done. And this book just reinforced those feelings.

I listened to the audiobook and both narrators were new to me. I felt Krystal Hammond was a good choice for Jaimie, but I thought Trunk be more gruff that he was portrayed by Chance Smolders. However, both performances were good and enjoyable.

Great start to a new series!

This book has it all- romance, great story, right amount of suspense, and refreshingly Freya. I also love how the book ties into other of Freya’s books and there was no part of this book that did not have me wanting more. Narration was spot on. Cannot wait for the next one.

Very Emotional MC story

Wooo! This book had me cheering on a hot romance to crying at the abuse a nasty gang did to little ones! Freya really knows how to write stories with romance, happiness, mystery, anger and sadness all tied into one. Jamie and Trunk have a crazy build up to their relationship but the love they have for each other becomes swoon worthy! The trials they go through to keep themselves safe is gut wrenching at times. I almost want to say that Krystal and Chance read this too good as the emotions felt real and raw through out the whole book! I had to take a few breaks to gather myself but I loved the overall story and can’t wait to start the next book!

First in a spin-off series

This first in series picks up the story of the MC featured in Rock Point. A story I looked forward to reading as I love interconnected series where the stories for new characters feature the prior books characters. This delivered!

The narration was fantastic. Fits the characters and story well. An enjoyable listen.

There are hard things in this story. Triggers of sorts. The worst of human behavior. That part is hard. Part of the story but hard.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed the story alot
I loved the suspense and the action and drama. What i didnt enjoy was Jaimie. In the beginning she was so judgemental towards Trunk. Especially when he didn't call and was dealing with issues at the club.
The narrators were awesome. My first time listening to them but willl definitely look out for more audios with this duo

FREYA BARKER HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!

I absolutely love this book! Trunk and Jaimie are the best couple!! They have there roller coaster and things go awry, but I wouldn’t miss a minute of the ride! I love that they are not the traditional couple and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. Can not wait for the next book on audio!

The narrators are amazing!

Outstanding!

Another amazing story from Freya Barker. This is the first book in her spin off of the Arrow’s Edge MC. Titus Maximus Rae “Trunk” is Tahlula’s brother who we met in Tracking Tahlula. Jamie is Tahlula’s assistant and has recently moved to Durango with her infant son to start a new life.

This story moved me so much. Truck and Jaimie had this undeniable chemistry but life experiences made Trunk a hard man with many demons. Jaimie had her own issues she was dealing with but saw something in Trunk that she knew she couldn’t walk away from. These two both faced adversity and judgment but found a way to trust in each other.

One of the things I love most about Freya’s writing style is the relationships with all the characters and the way her stories flow. Twists and turns, character depth and human emotions are all front and center in this book. I think this is one of her best to date.

I loved the narrators, i felt every one of Freya's characters emotions.

excellent MC romantic suspense

Love Trunk and Jaimie! If you like adult characters in an adult relationship with great story lines and excellent writing then this is for you. If you love a hero that is great with kids that will make you swoon then you will love Truck. Recommend.

The narrators were great choices for Truck and Jaimie. Chance Smolders was excellent and will love listening to more from him. I also enjoyed Krystal Hammond.

Fantastic romantic suspense!

Freya Barker has risen to one of my top authors. I love that she has realistic characters, and they are closer to my age! It makes me want to devour all of her stories. This new series has caught my attention for a couple of reasons. Not only does it have all the things that push my buttons, like romance, suspense and men with children, but I love how she melds relevant issues into her stories, making the listen that much more interesting. Trunk is part of the Arrow's Edge MC. Not looking for a relationship, he shies away from those clingy women. But his sister Tahlula has an employee who has caught his eye. Jaimie has moved into town with her young son, River and her mom and Trunk just cannot stop thinking about her. Jaimie has just gotten out of a terrible relationship and she is constantly looking over her shoulder for her ex to make the next move. Even from jail, he is a danger to her and her son. These two find themselves unable to prevent getting together and their story really takes off. Scenes with Jaimie and Trunk, Jaimie's mom and Ezra the troubled boy, Trunk and River all are amazingly heart warming. But it doesn't stop there. Danger is lurking, and it comes from the least expected place. High suspense will keep you listening as you hear just how vicious things are going to get. Barker takes it all on, making the heart pound and sing! It's a fabulous listen.

Krystal Hammond and Chance Smolders are our story tellers and they are fantastic! Hammond is amazing as Jaimie. She is an incredibly protective mother, warm hearted and hesitant to give her heart away. Hammond's nuance and inflections bring that all out. Chance Smolders is that protective alpha, giving that feeling of warmth. Tender, loving and ferocious, he lends it all to Trunk making him the hero we all love. These two are wonderful and the casting is perfect!

a little slower than rock point

seeing as Ouray makes an appearance quite a lot in this book I'm glad i know the backstory.
the protagonists make an appearance yet again in this one and it jogs my memory.
it moves around a bit and i was having trouble connecting the attacks.
the first half of the book is quite slow and Im glad I'm aware of other settings and characters.
the back end picks up pace and i enjoyed that the most and it's then, that I connect the dots.
I still feel that there are a lot of holes in the plotline...ie: how protagonists did what they did. no communication between H and h. a side story with a biker....it feels like a fill in.
stuff just seems to be missing the mark. brothers run hot and cold. there's steam and in this book you need a lot of patience. I'm just 2nd guessing myself after listening to an 80% action and 20% romance novel.
it's a touchy topic that freya takes on and it sifts through with the lighter side of MC
narrator's were a first listen and did ok
krystans voice was great and almost whisper quiet but she can put it out there when her temper character temper comes through.
male narrator had the colloquialisms of the H down to a tee. great plotline though, just a tad slow and tricky whodunnits
