Publisher's Summary

Killer or target?

Dr. Kelly Irving knew her husband, attorney Jack Harbaugh, was acting strangely but figured they’d get through it. When she backed out of her garage that morning, she thought her car hit a bump. Instead, its progress was stopped by the body of a man her husband recently represented. Not only that, the dead man had been shot by her husband’s gun.

The police who investigated made it clear that Jack was a primary suspect. Kelly couldn’t decide if Jack was a murderer or marked as the next victim. As things continued to escalate, they were forced to put their marital differences aside and concentrate on keeping Jack alive while discovering who was behind the whole thing.

Fast Listen

Emergency Case by Richard L Mabry MD is thoroughly enjoyable suspense filled book. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I was attracted first to the book based on the narrator, Bill Nevitt. He's great! Then the blurb appealed to me. I found some of the twists to be unexpected. This is a fast and easy listen.

Emergency Case

This story was well written, but I found it a bit formulaic. I enjoyed listening to it, but didn’t find anything particularly compelling. Not as interesting as other works I have heard from this author.
This is not the first time I have listened to performances by this narrator and he is very good. I did need some time to get used to his patterns of emphasis at first, but he is adept at providing distinct character voices throughout, something I believe is invaluable to a good audio production.
I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A short mystery that was well narrated. There is a lot of religion and prayer in the story - not to my liking unfortunately. This book was given to me for free at my request and I have left this objective review voluntarily.

Another Great Story

Another one Bill Nevitt has brought all characters to life and has done a wonderful job in telling a short story. I liked the mystery of what was coming and how the story was written.

Emergency Case

This book is a quick listen and reminded me of watching a police TV show. A young lawyer, Jack Harbaugh, and his wife. Dr. Kelly Irving, are caught up in a murder investigation after Jack takes on a new client. What he thinks is a simple drug charge turns into so much more and soon Jack and Kelly are running for their lives.

The book is entertaining, but nothing too unique or different. The characters could have been better developed and more interesting and I found Jack to be especially aloof. Not a bad book, just nothing too exciting. The writing reminded me more of a screenplay than a novella. But, I would probably read another book by Dr. Mabry.

The narrator, Bill Nevitt, does his usual excellent job and is the highlight of this book in my opinion. He always does a great job and keeps the listener's interest even if the book is a little lackluster. All in all, this is the type of book that would make a good beach read: entertaining enough to keep your interest without too much brain power being expended.

I was given the opportunity to listen to this book by the narrator and chose to review it.

A simple mistake leads to near death experience

An attorney takes a straight forward case, only to have his and his wife's life in grave danger.
A murder mystery, with a couple of twists.
I enjoyed the narrator's vocalizations characters, which adds the extra wham to an already great story.

Emergency case

Well, this was fast and fun.It was also predictable and unbelievable.I have a hard time believing a doctor wrote this. There was also a lot of prayer for a 3 hour book. Bill Nevitt was a good narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
