I like it so far.. still listening!

Some great research and principles, this should be taught in schools and business. The world would be a much happier, more peaceful and more productive place. I really like how they have the easy to digest half and the deep science and research half.

Good delivery

Very informational and encouraging if one doesn't "score" high on Emotional Intelligence. It parses the difference between being smart and being wise. And says that these are skills that can be learned, but it, like everything else requires work.

This book has been unhelpful

Or as the author repeats in almost every paragraph "in short". (Who edited this to allow for that?) The Managing with Heart chapter I also thought was too simplistic.

No one buys this bad book

Anyway, these things bothered me - A LOT - and forced me to take a break from the book. The author just lost so much credibility with me. I had heard so many references to this book that I was actually excited to read it. I am sorry to say just how disappointing and frustrating the experience has been.

The book is of no use

There are other dynamics at play in the workplace, as there are in life. How many people have been dragged into meetings where people talk and talk just to hear their own voices, where things go off-topic, where nothing gets resolved, where everything gets "tabled" for the next unproductive meeting?

It seems that money is the soil

A lot of times these alpha managers (male and female) know exactly what they are doing when the ridicule publicly. It has nothing to do with EI and a lot to do with ego. I suppose you could say that is a component of healthy EI, but the author never goes into ego or narcissism.

Must follow this advice.

I actually applied some of the learning with my friends who were having problems. This is one of those audiobooks that when you think about it, it seems obvious but you only realize it until someone tells you about it.
