Some parents are plain mean, mentally, emotionally, and physically abusive, manipulative, lying and cold blooded towards their children. They are the kind of parents that you would rather live without than live with; parents you want to distance yourself from and forget that they exist because every time you talk to them, they bring their vile of mean comments, arguments, bring you down, and find opportunities to be aggressive even when not necessary.

The reviews are fake
This book omg.. such pre school information. This book is ridiculous, and the sentences go on and on, without the connecting the dots or finishing a thought. It mentions how parents at a young age become bad and the fathers leave, just super vague awkward information. NOTHING in depth about ACTUAL immature parents. Definitely research other titles regarding this subject and it will help you MUCH MORE, I promise.
Now I have to return this title, could not even finish it.

Decent basic content, but misleading premise.
This short introduction to emotionally abusive parents may be useful for many people, especially those who have experienced trauma but have perhaps not yet fully put their experiences in context. Overall, it lacks depth, and to be entirely honest, it's writing is amateurish.
However, my main gripe with this book is that it pushes a conservative Christian worldview - something that is never mentioned in the Audible description. For Example, the book:
1) Puts recovery for victims in the context of God's plan
2) Insists that marriage is between a man and a woman.
3) Plays to the notion of emotionally abuse affecting boys in a way that manifests itself as aggression and affecting girls in a way that manifests sensitivity. As a sensitive man, I can assure the author that this is not necessarily the case.
To be honest, the last point is the one that made me write this review, the other points were minor annoyances. It makes me wonder about the author's professionalism, and ability to objectively offer advice without imparting his own religious views.
On top of that, a lot of the 5* reviews read in a very similar way and describe content that is not in the book. It makes me think that the author or publisher is paying for favourable reviews

Rambling and exclusive
More of a stream of consciousness using generalisations and unreferenced statistics. Lapses into gender stereotypes and particular religious positions on marriage and parenting.
