Publisher's Summary

The final fight for control of humanity begins now.

The United Terran Federation is on the brink of collapse after a devastating attack by the Eastern Star Alliance that has left four planets depopulated and uninhabitable. Terrified member worlds are fleeing from the Federation and the remnant of their once-mighty fleet has retreated to the last place they are welcome: Earth.

Out of options and time, the Federation turns to Admiral Jackson Wolfe and his new superweapon that could be the key to turning the tide of the war in their favor. Admiral Wolfe knows that no matter what, the fate of humanity will be decided in the coming battle.

Empire is the final book in the bestselling Black Fleet Saga.

Dalzelle completes the series in style

Joshua did it again. Although it appears that Jackson Wolf hangs up his spurs, this time, I really liked the way he wrapped the series up.

Satisfying ending to an epic series

Did not disappoint. If you're a fan of the series, just buy the dang book. How could you not know how this all ends?

Weak ending, weaker than previous trillogies

I really enjoyed the first two Wolfe trilogies. Lots of fun, great characters and action. Unfortunately these two elements fade in this trilogy and are weakest in the third installment. Wolfe doesn't feel like he has agency and supporting characters to his plot line sort of fade in and out. Other characters get more billing but this late in the game they're either ham handed or one dimensional. There's also a lot less focus on the actual space combat, which was one of Dalzelle's strengths, which is instead replaced with political intrigue which is even more shallow. Lastly, it's a shame we didn't get any retrospectives from the future like we got from the second novel in the trilogy.

This is one of the best military sci-fi novels I have ever had the greatest chance to listen to

The saga of Jackson Wolf is a very epic series from his rise to the end of an ongoing battle with galactic forces is epic the humanity that is challenged in this novel speaks volumes of the creativity of the author I found myself wanting to go back and listen to earlier books of this series because the characters are so intense and so likable and the ones you hate do you hate them completely. The Narrator is one of the best in the business is vocal tones and expressions grip you and keep you engaged in this epic series. Hats off to all involved with these novels.

Empire: the last book

What a way to end the series. Enjoyed it immensely! Unfortunately that was the last book that I’ve got with Joshua. Hopefully there will be more which I can’t wait to read.

The wrong big bad

It felt the stakes were continually lowered as the series has gone on. Pity as Warship was compelling.
I was interested in finding out more about the aliens, or a looming threat from within, but nope, brushed away.
The Vruhan cliffhanger... forgotten.

Black fleet is all that is needed.

Excellent- from start to finish

This has been a fantastic trilogy. I have been gripped for every minute of it. The characters were fully fleshed out and the storyline was excellent.
The narration was perfect with the characters being brought to life.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this.

An amazing conclusion to a incredible series.

I just want to say thank you, to both Mark Boyett and Joshua Dalzell for an amazing performance to a incredible series. It's been a hell of a journey throughout all the book and it's with a heavy heart that I finish this series. I'll be looking forward to listening to both of your content in the future and will always hold out hope that you'll both reunite to work on the universe of this series once again.

fantastic series, great ending

9 books later and the intricacies of dalzelles writing will be ingrained to your brain for expectations for a standard of space operas. The pronounced and infamous voice of Mark Boyett made me shiver with excitement when announcing entrances of familiar characters.

Great End to a Great Series

It is not often you find such a compelling bunch of characters that can be so hated and so loved within the same series, but this pulls it off. There are the highs that one often gets from this type of series but also the lows and all pulled together in this brilliant conclusion to the saga, it leaves you wanting more, but alas this is the end, there isn’t anymore…

So sad this has finished

Such an excellent journey. So well crafted, and despite being fiction, felt in touch with reality compared with most space warfare stories. Even though this journey may be over, I hope we see this universe again, maybe further down the line, to see where the path humanity took eventually lead them. To the author, amazing, wonderful, brilliant story telling. To the narrator, simply sublime.
