Publisher's Summary

Roswell was only the beginning! An in-depth look at the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident, the world's most sensational and compelling series of UFO encounters.

In 1980, a UFO was tracked on military radar in Rendlesham Forest, England. It landed near two of the most strategically important military bases in NATO, and was approached by military witnesses who touched the hull. This explosive new book tells the full story of this incident, which is set to become better-known than Roswell.

Written by Nick Pope, an international best-selling author and former government UFO investigator, working closely with John Burroughs and Jim Penniston, the two officers at the heart of the encounters, Encounter in Rendlesham Forest reveals the first-hand witnesses' full stories for the first time and is supported by numerous formerly-classified documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act. The inside story of these events and their aftermath will change people's perceptions about UFOs and about the true role played by government, the military and the intelligence agencies.

This is a fascinating story!

I found this story absolutely fascinating. What happened seems hard to ignore and yet it has been ignored. If what is related is as described then people should be told and it should no longer be suppressed.
But what does it mean for us?

Dull, Draggy

This event was no doubt of unforgettable importance in the lives of the men who experienced it. Unfortunately, it loses a great deal in the telling and is rendered dull and dry by the recitation of who did this, who did that. Even the encounters with the UFO itself are oddly boring.

The single bright light here is the stellar narration by Roy McCrerey. His tone, pacing, and enunciation are perfect. He manages the shift from British to American accents to perfection; I had to check to make sure that there was only one narrator.
One quibble: "rinkins"? Context strongly suggests that the word he was going for here was "roentgen".

Impressed

I thought I knew this story. It's been on TV for decades whether a quick mention or in-depth documentaries. Turns out I was wrong! I didn't really know this story after all.

This book covers many things I've never heard before as well as things I'd never considered. Plenty of brief and related asides as well.

Could only be improved if Nick Pope narrated it. I am glad for the different voices for Jim and John.

Fascinating read.

This book analyzes, in an in-depth manner, the events around the famed incident of an alleged UFO landing in England on 27 December 1980. Two significant witnesses report the event triggering an alleged government coverup. The author was at one time a government official in the UK and lends his knowledge and experiences to the organization and writing this book. Read this book.

Snooze in Rendlesham Forest

This is definitely not how you tell a story. It is forever building context, trying to set things up, but the story gets lost in all the digressions and footnotes. I tried to fast forward to get to the interesting parts, but it was futile, because the interesting part never came.

Best Book on Rendlesham Forest UFO

This book is thoughtful, thorough and informative. Claims are backed by evidence, eyewitness testimony, and declassified military documents. Pope is an engaging writer. I highly recommend this book and place it alongside Leslie Kean’s Pilots and Generals Go on the Record.

Long Winded

Very long winded audio book, if you like facts and figures and countless quotes from witnesses regarding the rendlesham incident, then is the book for you.

Out of This World 🌎

Been meaning to read this book for years, but can never find the time. So listening to it is a much better option. And I'm so glad that I did. And incredible series of events, swept under the carpet for decades.

Outstanding piece of work.

Open and honest assessment of facts.
No suppositions made.
Compassionate handling of those suffering from abuses of power.
I wasn’t sure about this book and not familiar with Mr Pope. I wish more ex military personnel would write information based literature. Little if anything is left open to interpretation.
10/10 Highly Recommended.

Truly awful book

The incident itself is hardly examined. Any documentary would be more informative. The remaining 95% of the book wanders all over the place. The narrator is bland, uninteresting, and has the very annoying habit of using American pronunciation. I couldn’t finish it, I tried, but it’s just dreadful.

Best ufo book avaliable

Having knowledge of the RF incident I found this book to be extremely informative.
Neither pro nor sceptical and giving a fair review to both sides of the argument.
it has also opened up another possible theory to me that I won't go into in this review

UAP / UFO Event in 1980

An excellent true story of what must have been an incredible, intriguing & at times confusing incident to have witnessed! And so sad that those involved experienced interrogation as if they were perpetrators. The in incident witnessed by so many military personnel makes it compelling!! Well read and great tone / adaption of US and UK voices. As some audio books have awful voice tones which can really put you off what could be a great story.

I highly recommend this book to any UAP enthusiast. And my heart goes out to those involved in the incident and the difficulties you experienced both physically and psychologically. Thank you 🙏🏻
