Publisher's Summary

It’s been over a year since The Day.

Morgan and his companions have fought to stay alive and he finally managed to get to his parents and bring them back. Their situation is getting better every day, but there are still challenges ahead of them.

With a desire to return to a normal life on everyone’s mind, the group starts taking steps to do just that. Thinking bigger they tackle some major projects that will provide valuable resources. However, there are others out there making plans for them as well.

While these new plans will provide them with a lot of supplies and the ability to be resupplied on a regular schedule, it also comes with oversight; something Sarge and Morgan are not going to like. But the benefits far outweigh the problems...or do they?

They still face many challenges—like Fred’s pregnancy—that are still potential disasters. There is little room for error in their world. But hard work, determination, and the bond that holds the group together have enabled them to make it this far. But will it be enough?

Great story! wish he had read the last ten first.

great narration, compelling story.. problem is, Sarge already killed the main antagonist. permanently dead. Several books ago. the other was killed by the PD, with his body on display when they hung Mika for the attack on the park.. other consistancy problems too, but they can be overlooked.. bottom line, glad AA is continuing this story, I think it's going somewhere interesting, wish he, or his editors were as invested as I am, as a reader and fan..

not A.American's writing but Duke is awesome

Who wrote this garbage This is not A.Americans writing. after waiting this long its kinda insulting to try to pass this off as an A.A book its like someone skimmed though the series then wrote their own version. These are not the same characters their motivations and backgrounds are not the same as the 10 books.
The speech patterns are way off its plain as day that this is not the same author this is my favorite book series. this is bad

This breaks my heart!

This really breaks my heart to write a review like this because I was really in love with this series. I usually don’t give negative reviews because most of the time it’s just preference. Not the case here. This audiobook is very bad. Chris Weatherman is up front about not being the worlds best writer but he has always managed to convey a good story that holds the reader’s attention. Likewise, Duke Fontaine usually delivers a decent performance that is diverse and entertaining. This audiobook fails to deliver on both accounts; big time! This book doesn’t make use of good chapter breaks and the dialog has very poor rhythm. When this is combined with a very flat performance by Duke, it makes it sound like a 6th grader is reading a book to you. There is no diversity between characters and the storyline is extremely chaotic. I could go on and on and talk about the holes in the plot as well but I feel bad enough as it is about this review. If I could give some advice it would be to find a real editor and some alpha and beta readers that hare honest and not just fanboys. I am an A. American fan and own all of the hard copies and audiobooks in this series but I feel like I really got ripped off with this one. This book has only been out a week or so and it should be retracted, edited and rereleased or sorry to say, it will certainly be the end of this series.

Save the credit

I have listened to the other books in this series probably 30 times over the last 2 years and and this book is so bad I'll probably listen to it just that once they change the characters in in the story makes no sense because some of the things that are happening now happens 3 books ago

Good But...

Trabor was killed earlier and should not have appeared again. Would have been better if it was Russians as the threat. Somehow Morgan becomes a HAM operator in all of his free time and suddenly knows how to cut and tune antennas? Duke is an awesome reader and could make any book seem interesting.

To many inconsistencies in the story line.

I am a huge fan of this series, I have listened to the books several times, and loved them.

No SOILERS

It seems this one was written with no thoughts of the previous books, from the beginning we are hearing of old enemies that were killed in previous books being talked about as they just disappeared, and a couple of the enemies killed in dramatic fashion suddenly alive and seeking revenge. The whole story line of this book would have been a mute point if the writer had remembered killing the enemies, seems rushed and not as well written.

The narration was spot on as usual,

Sadly probably my last book in the series

There is so much wrong with this book. The biggest problem was bringing back long dead antagonist. Besides that major error, the whole book was just a fluff piece for Morgan, Mel, and Dalton. Nothing gets resolved in this book either. The way this was written book 12 will have the same major plot holes. I suggest that Chris writes a 11.5, it doesn’t have to be super long, but it needs to kill off the walking dead and introduce a new antagonist and it should be free as well. It pains me to write this because not only am a huge fan of the series but a fan of Chris in general.

Not worth it !

I am upset they didn’t take the time to follow the story line . Reanimated dead characters. I am guessing in book twelve Pat will come back from the dead an hunt them with all the dead Cubans.

Disappointing rehash of "Avenging Home"

This entire work was a disappointment. Had the editorial staff not been familiar with the previous works at all? Nearly the entire story line was presented in "Avenging Home" I feel that the author has made some weak attempts to pick certain plot lines from. his better volumes, change a few minor details and add a few new weak sub-plots , package it all up under a new title and sell it to the fans of his earlier, popular series.
How could Charles Tabor and the escaped Feds be coming after our heroes when the entire group was wiped out in Chapter 9 of Avenging Home a specifically at 1:33:30 of Chapter 9 Sarge finds Charles Tabor in a bombed out cabin and suffocate him.
The final insult is the fact that A. American actually was able to end this farce with a reasonable cliff hanger.
The fact that Duke Fontaine was able to pull off such a fine performance with such weak material is astonishing.

Was it actually written by A. American

Very disapointed. 2 people killed in Avenging home are now alive. Mel, who often complained about Morgan always carrying a gun and swearing, now cusses like a sailor and wants a machine gun. Many of the characters had a personality change. Just too many inconsistencies. Even Duke Fontaine sounded fed up with the drivel as you often couldn't tell who was talking. I really like the series. Listen to them often, also read them. But this one dont bother.

Keeps getting better

I absolutely love this series and have listened to all the previous books multiple times. This is just another hit from the author
