Not for believers!!!

I am so disappointed that people put out novels and say they are for kids at Christmas and then ruin the joy of that holiday! This book is a horrible choice for young children and I am so sad I let my child listen to it!!

Very cute

I enjoyed this audiobook, In the stories, you learn about the origins of many Christmas traditions.

This book contains a lot of short stories. The format might be a little confusing to younger readers. Also, some of the stories seemed to be slight variations of the same story.

Overall, the stories contain good morals and helped me get into the Christmas spirit. This would be a good audiobook to choose if you were to take a family road trip around Christmastime.

The kids liked it but more religious than I was expecting

My 7 yo really liked this but I had anticipated a collection of Christmas stories - there were some but a lot of it focused on the history of Christmas - which again my 7 yo found interesting. However I wouldn’t have downloaded it if I’d known just how centred on Christianity it would be.

Santa Spoiler Alert

If your child still believes in Santa don't get this. In the first chapter a 10year old boy doesn't believe and is mocked for hanging out his stocking.
My kids have listened to lots of Enid Blyton and I know it's a little older but my kids love it. Unfortunately this one is a not suitable in this instance. I'm scared to play anymore in case there's more spoilers to make them doubt Santa.

Enchanting

Really interesting and transports you away. Yes, a different world from today, a lost world really, but Enid Blyton is still a joy. Really interesting too with the history of Christmas traditions. Jilly Bond’s voice seems to fit right in with the wonderful prose.

What A Fantastic Festive Book

Having used one of my credits on this book I recently sat down to enjoy some great festive reading and what a fantastic book it was from beginning to end. The only story I didn't enjoy that much was the one about the Jack in the box but that was, I think, more that it was more suitable for children aged 5, 6 and 7. The book has stories woven into the Family Christmas story so that after every part of the story you get a different story but it's so well set out to give parents the chance to put a story on each night for their children after they've gone to bed before they eventually turn over and sleep. There were some great stories such as the generous boy Harry and how he got rewarded for his gallant behaviour, Santa's visit to the two children who nearly went without presents because of their rude behaviour and bad school report, but repented of it in the end and the group of children who helped their mother out when she'd lost her money. Whatever age you are, it's a fantastic book of some great festive reading.

Classically beautiful

This is such a soothing, enjoyable collection of Enid Blyton Christmas stories. The children loved it and we enjoyed revisiting our youth and actually learned a few things about Christmas! It is definitely loaded with language from the era, so there are some parts that'll challenge your views on gender roles (!) but the overwhelming innocence more than makes up for it.

Magic memories

A timeless collection of Christmas short  stories for all ages.  In true Enid Blyton style the book is filled with characters who are as magical and mystical as they are mischievous.  Loved the way the stories explained the traditions of Christmas that are still practiced today and enjoyed being taken back to a time when the spirit of Christmas was about the joy of the season.
