Publisher's Summary

Indigo has a troubled past and there’s no denying it. Tired of being scared, she sets sail aboard a private yacht, hopeful that the open waters of the Atlantic will give her and best friend Eric a much-needed respite.

As if trouble followed her, the yacht catches fire. Stranded in the ocean, cold, hungry, desperate, and alone, Eric and Indi struggle to survive.

Just when they think things couldn’t get much worse, they are captured, held hostage by a band of modern-day pirates. Now they’re in even more trouble than they could have ever imagined.

What Indigo couldn’t have predicted is how broodingly handsome Hendrix, their captain, is. The moment Indi lays eyes on him, she feels sparks fly. But Hendrix is determined, powerful, and hard to crack.

Hendrix has plans for Indi, dark plans that will put her life at risk. If only Indi could connect with him, it might be more than just lust on the line… it might save her life.

Intriguing Modern Day Pirate Story

It's against the rules. You're not meant to fall for your captor.

Who knew a modern day pirate story would interest me? When I started the book one evening, I just expected to listen to a couple of chapters and then go to bed. Yeahhhhh. Didn't happen. In fact, it was well after midnight when I regrettably put up my iPod.

I might add that there were a few parts in this book that I couldn't stand. The heroines name for one. Indigo. Ugh. And her best friend, Eric, got on my nerves as well. I know they were captured, blah, blah, blah but he just didn't have a personality. At all. Lastly, the cover for this book is all wrong. She's described in the book as being blonde but a brunette is stuck on the cover. :/

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The characters are great, the action is superb, and the passion is HOT! The sex scenes will leave you panting and wanting more. Hendrix (the hero) is dominant and has a rough personality. I really, really liked him. I love to read about bad boys. He's definitely one of them. Who doesn't love a sexy pirate???

I never thought it possible to want someone so much, until him. I can't get enough of what he has to offer. He gives it, and I can't stop taking.

Carmen Rose was outstanding with the delivery of the story

PIRATES, ADVENTURES AT SEA--GREAT LISTEN!

I loved the idea of this book because it was so original, and when I listened to the narration of Carmen Rose, I was hooked! Carmen Rose narrated beautifully. She has a lovely voice with such a nice English accent that I enjoyed the way she brought this book to life.

At the heart of it, this book illustrates Stockholm Syndrome with a woman who falls in love with her captor, and vise versa. But, that dark aspect makes this read intriguing and visceral. Captain Hendrix (a pirate) scoops up Indigo and her friend Eric from a raft at sea, as they escaped a yacht explosion with their lives. Yet life in captivity is a pretty scary thing, and there were times in which Indigo's erratic behaviors made her an unlikeable heroine. I chalked down her teetering from selfless to selfish as part of her fight-flight responses and adrenaline rush, as a captive. However, Indigo, overall, was a brave woman who pushed through her circumstances hoping for something better. Well, Captain Hendrix is ruthless and completely unlikable at the beginning, but along the way his humanity breaks through and with many twists and turns in the plot, and reappearances of impacting people in Indigo's life, well you have one exciting adventure.

Was this story believable?---Absolutely not, but it was enjoyable. There are a lot of questions that come up, like why did Indigo rent a yacht to sail across the pond from the U.S. to the U.K., and why does the narrator have an English accent when Indigo lived most of her life in the U.S…..well, those questions get answered somewhat. But, you have to just read this book for fun, and not for realism.

Oh, the love scenes progressed from simply lusty to steamy and emotional. There is dirty talk and graphic detail in the scenes. One aspect I thought was somewhat comical was how Hendrix referred to Indigo as "Innocensia (innocence)"---yet, this innocent girl really knew something about finding a man's g-spot….OMG…crazy! LOL

I can't wait to read the next book and find out more about Dimitri and Jess's dark romance, as well as find out what new developments spring forth with Hendrix and Indigo!

3.5 STARS IT'S A GOOD LISTEN BUT IT'S NOT GREAT

Indigo should never say "well things could be worse".... because her life goes from one problem to really bad problems then disastrous problems to lethal deadly problems in just a few short days. Luckily she's strong, capable and independent..... all traits that she's going to need in the next few weeks when she's captured by the very handsome, sexy but tough, ruthless and scary Pirate Captain Hendrix who wants to sell her as a sex slave.

Told from Indigo's POV and you get sucked into her story as it twists and turns and has ups and downs like the Ocean she's on with mystery, suspense, murder, a surprise or two, secrets, drama, passion, dirty talk and sex. A very dislikable Hero until near the end and I'm sure modern day Pirates are very frightening but this is a work of romantic fiction so with a sad story and a cracking of his cold exterior he is transformed in the end into a swoon-worthy sensual Pirate.

It's not the greatest work of fiction, or that well written as it lacks a lot of descriptions which would have painted the scenes and given depth to the characters and some things are just plain stupid (modern day Pirates surely don't fly the skull and crossbones flag!). It is a sort of HEA ending as the H/H are happy together but to line up the plot for book 2 something happens to one of the other characters and another Pirate.

Worth a credit? It's under $8 so I just bought it and that's about right for this listen but I guess I would have been happy enough if I'd used a credit on it.

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Bella Jewel. It was well written with a great storyline and excellent characters. Hendrix and Indigo had a turbulent story. Hendrix was hard to get to know. He stayed mysterious about himself. Indigo had a hard life. I really don't think I liked her best friend Eric. I certainly went back and forth regarding him. I did feel like that relationship was left hanging. I loved the end, but what to teaser going into the next book! I look forward to listening to it!

Carmen Rose is an excellent narrator. She voiced male and female voices well. I completely enjoyed her performance! I was lost in the audiobook since it was running like a movie in my head. Loved it!

*I listened to this audiobook through the Kindle Unlimited program.

Great Book, Not a fan of the performance!

I've loved this book for years. after getting a job that requires me to commute, I decided to download the audible version of it to listen to during the drive. The woman's voice started off great, and then when it got to the part where we meet Hendrix, I had to stop listening. The narrator gave him a weird vampire accent. No where is it mentioned that he has an accent and nowhere is it mentioned that he was a vampire pirate. I'm sorry. I LOVE this book. it's my favorite book to re-read! But the narrator just killed it for me with Hendrix's weird accent.

oh how yummy!

This was so amazing! so different. The pirates were so bad. But oh so good. Second have was a lot of hot sex. I really got attached to the characters. they were written so well. While it's a 5 star read, I would recommend the audiobook because the narrator is to die for. she can do any accent and has a heavy one. I had to look and make sure there wasn't 2 because she does so good with male voices I thought for sure it was a man. it happens to be a book you can listen to and read with kindle unlimited. I was so happy!
