Publisher's Summary

The Guild Collective is applying pressure. Combat is heating up. That’s how diamonds are made.

Rockland is reeling from the loss of his family. All he found of them were missing limbs after the battle for New York, where the heavyweights of Empire and the Mechanolords fought. Only dangerous combat and bear wrestling were able to take his mind off the tragedy, but for a Chimera Knight those battles turned into new Territories across the massive, now borderless, country once called Canada.

Pulled from the path of self-destruction at the last moment, Rocky learns how to better use violence to achieve his goals in the apocalypse. Meliora’s enemies have allied and joined up to wipe out anyone in their way. Only because of his increased senses does Rocky find hints that the Grotto’s attempted extinction is a cover. Its reason? To keep humanity's attention on survival and away from something far greater. There’s a secret the Mechanolords are concealing, a place of power they need to access to achieve their true goals: the lost city of Atlantis.

Everyone needs the oldest place of power in existence for their own reasons, but the Legendary guardian of the city would rather destroy the planet than fail to protect the newly arisen sanctum.

I am done

So, in the first place I never thought this was an amazing series but I felt like it was maybe at a 3.5-4 / 5 starting but it feels like its been slowly less enjoyable. I really have not enjoyed the conflict elements of this series of late. The main character is getting aggravating the longer I listen and several of the support characters are just irritating.

I think I am done with this one. I didn't think the third one was great but this one was enough for me to just call it. I have two hours left of this book and..... I don't actually think I intend to finish it.

Review

Unfortunately for me this series has become a slow decline. Book 1 and book 2 were very good, Book 3 was pretty decent not the best, but definitely not worse. Luke Daniel does his best to really bring life to the characters which I really appreciate. he carries the series on his back!. There’s just very little story development. There’s definitely a slice of life but very little story development!. Ryan DeBruyn is one of the earlier authors who adapt there books to audible. Which allowed Litgpg to be given a wider audience. But he’s competing with authors like, JF Brink, Travis Deverell and Alaron Kong just to name a few. And unlike him, there audiobooks are between 15 to 25 hours of material, which allowed them to develop their story. progress the storyline and give you a slice of life. these authors are release a audiobook every 6 to 8 months continuing and building on the story/Universe. Hopefully Ryan Deruyn can make the necessary adjustments in book 5. He did a wonderful job tying in mythology and video games mechanic in the universe which is one of the best part about this audiobook. Feels like there’s missing chapters. In many ways book 4 could’ve been added on to book 3.

Emotional Much?

Good God the MC is an idiot.
He as zero self control nor does he have any ability to compartmentalize. Any man this emotionally childish should never be a leader. Nor would other adults put up with this guy playing leader, if he didn't advocate control it would be completely reasonable to kill him for being a threat to everyone else.

First two books had been good third made me want to strangle the MC then this books just makes me hope he gets eaten by a monster for being annoying.

Love the series

I feel like this book departed from the series a bit. Just the overall feel of this story was different from the rest. That could be because of the time between books but I’m not sure.
The addition of emotional growth for the character and trying to make him more emotional aware and intelligent was interesting. Though I do feel like it was somewhat forced.
Story is really a 3.5 compared to the rest of the series for me. But I enjoy the series so I’m not going to tank a review for Amazon.

Brilliant... Again!

I love these characters.
The race to gain access to Atlantis comes to a head. Will our friends beat the Guild Collective to a potentially vital treasure trove of ancient technology? Read on.
Ryan continues to write characters that feel real to me. With character flaws and insecurities I would expect in a hostile and even-changing world.
Luke is a master of his craft and delivers the story with his own flair that brings it to life.

what a great series

Why oh why do people feel the need to bash authors?? If you don't like a book then move on, don't try to trash a person living by writing BS reviews. If you think you can do better then become an author and cringe when others destroy your livelihood. This series rocks and I can't wait till the next installment!

still loved it in regardless of main character

still highly enjoyable even though the main character seems to be unable to mature into a leader. ever since book 1 this 31 year old man has read like a teenager and continues to do so but other characters pick up the slack.

Ryan does it again

Ryan does it again with another great book in this series. I look forward to see what he has in store for us especially with Atlantis under their control.

not as good as i was hoping

i feel like this one was stretched out and not well paced when compared to the other to begin with the thief was really talked out then they just went off to do other things for a while and not care about all the damage he was causing then just walks up and kills him without learning anything about him then there the second dungeon the tower defence when on for over 5 chapters in the end i got bored and skipped most of chapter 30-35 which is something i have not every done in the 310 books i own i hope the next one is better keeping to the standards books 1-3 held
