Publisher's Summary

She never thought to find love. He never thought to keep it.

Sold to whoremasters by her own husband, Tysha flees into the night with pursuers hot on her trail. For once in her life, the gods show mercy and deliver her to Erik the Tempered, a man as wild as he is noble. With him, Tysha’s long-dormant heart awakens, helplessly drawn to the quiet, enigmatic man who seems content to keep his distance.

Obligated to choose a bride for himself, Erik has spent weeks in half-hearted pursuit of a woman. Any woman will do, so long as he can easily say good-bye. However, fate brings him an unexpected bride, as nervous as she is lovely. With each passing day, Erik realizes his timid bride conceals the heart of a lion and finds it harder to turn from her sweet touch and haunting green eyes. But loving her comes with a great price: his family, his home, his purpose. Soon, Erik and Tysha will discover both the reward and cost of unconditional love.

This novel plays on the trope of abduction. While Dokiri men won’t let anything keep them from the woman they love, even that woman herself, all love scenes between the hero and heroine are consensual.

Great fantasy romance.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series (Holland) and decided to give this one a shot as well. I gotta say that so far this one is my favorite.

I really appreciate that the story is told inside the frame of the larger plot. No strong cliffhangers but also, I want to know how the hell they're going to handle that "little" issue under the mountain too.
it's a satisfying end to the book and an urge to keep reading them. well done.

I'm anxiously awaiting book 3's audiobook!

side note: the narrator was awesome. I wasn't sure at first how the female voices were going to work, but they are distinct, and easy to tell apart.

Powerful story!

This series just gets better! It would be easy for a series like this to not have strong female characters given the way the bride's are found. On the contrary, from the very beginning Tysha's inner strength shines through the muck of her life. In spite of being continuously pummeled her spirit finds wings in this story of evolving strength that takes the story in unexpected and exciting directions! Erik's journey is very different from Hollen's. He carries the burden of a terrible secret and is resigned to never find happiness. I thoroughly enjoyed the places this story goes to explore the bonds of family and clan. We also find out more about the insidious evil underneath the mountain. Definitely recommend this series!

Shane East is the sole narrator of this story and brings his A game to every character! He switches flawlessly between characters and brings strong emotion and beautiful performances to all aspects of the story. Loved every moment and I'm looking forward to the next story!

Excellence unleashed!

Another must read/listen!
Denali Day has again outdone herself. Great story, awesome writing, perfect narration (Shane East....yes!), and overall a "Wonderful" book! Not to mention....again...Shane East, his narration and character voices cannot be beat.
The characters and each of their stories keeps you engrossed, and you can't wait to get to the next book to see what happens next. The first book gave us a peek into the lives of the Dokiri, which was a great build up of characters. I enjoyed getting to know each of them and appreciate that they were included into this second book. The main characters are the highlight, but all of the characters play an important part and you get to see their development growing.

Starting book 3 today! Can't wait to get through this series and I know I won't want them to end.

Still good

A fabulous series that is both detailed and exciting. If all men honored their wives so the world would be a beautiful place. Enjoy the story.

Loving this series

I hope they make this an Amazon or Netflix series. I will turn the tv on and be there to support it fully. This has the depth and the legs for a Series. I love how the male characters adore the women. I can visualize the differences between the low lands and Dorkiri Mountains and the terrain. This is not even my type of book but then again it is. I’m not about the dungeons and dragons. I’m sorry wyverns and goblins or even fantastical fantasy but Denali Day does her thing so well it sucks you in completely. Oh and it’s not vulgarity and sex scene on top of each other. Just done so well. Love it. Gotta run book 3 awaits….

Book 2 is even better than 1. Wow!!

I can not tell you how much I loved this book. I honestly didn't think id like book 2 as much as book 1. But let me tell you, book 2 is absolutely outstanding. The strength that Tysha carries is immeasurable.
Coming from the background that she did, almost broken yet still strong is hard to portray in a book. But this author wrote it well. Erik, oh my dear Erik, his story is sad but the love he has for Tysha is heartfelt and makes you say awwww!!! The way the 2 of them come from troubled backgrounds and end this read with strength, honor, nobility and the ultimate love is very admirable. Denali Day writes incredibly well. Now i'm ready to read book 3. Ivan the Bold. These Dokiri brothers, Whewwwww, they really just make you want more out of the men that exist today.

Definitely a must read.

Loved it!!

Absolutely loved it, I was hooked after the first book but they’re just getting better, I love this world where men have true honour and are gentle and patient with the women and not gross savages that just take what they want, the different bonds between each couple are so lovely to watch grow, I can’t wait to read book 3 now! :)

Fantastic

What can I say, I was emotionally attached right from the beginning, (I am not sure if I was meant to but I did a lot of crying for these 2 characters like I was living their pain) beautifully written and narrated. Now to book 3.

Another Epic Tale

I enjoyed the first book in the series and Shane East's Narration so much I went and bought the second and I did not regret it. im going to stay away from elaborating on the story as Im a little worried I'll spoil something for another listener, but it was full of adventure and Romance. As with the first book, I shed some tears. This story is moving and captivating in all the best Romantic ways.
