Publisher's Summary

In the future, mankind has learned to manipulate their DNA, harnessing only the good genes, like intelligence, strength, and height. They called this prime DNA and humans rushed to get these new pDNA injections, which gave them superhuman-like qualities. Centuries later, however, their DNA became so engineered that humans rarely lived past the age of 30, thanks to a new deadly disease called the Kiss. The only cure is to receive an injection of oDNA, DNA from an Original human that hasn't been genetically altered. Problem is there aren't many Originals left.

When 17-year-old Sage wakes up in a hospital with no memories, her only clue are the words "Run Now" written on her hand. Trusting her instincts, Sage barely escapes but only to collide with an outside world that would kill to get their hands on her.

With the help of unlikely allies, including a boy with hidden bat wings, Sage makes the dangerous trek to Eden, the last place for people like her and the only place she'll be safe from those at the Institute who would use her blood until she died. But with deadly Primes hot on their trail, Sage must make the ultimate sacrifice to save the people she's grown to love.

YA book

I should preface this by saying i am in my 30’s and this is a YA novel. I do enjoy YA, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, etc, but this book was too juvenile. There is a lot of inconsistencies in the knowledge of the main character. The writing felt like it truly came from a preteen. Sometimes the narration can help save the book, but in this case the narrator felt flat and robotic. I thought the premise was interesting but the story telling didn’t hold up. I will not be finishing the series.

YA Tropes Galore

I get there is a formula for YA adventure/fantasy, but I don’t feel this one was particularly well crafted. Will not be going any further in this series.

Hope for Mankind

I read this book because of the Audible story summary. The story line was different to many others. Normally I like a little sarcasm in the protagonist. Instead she is kind and loyal. The other characters were like able. Was not sure at first how exciting the book would be, but I found there were some “Oh no what’s next” moments. Sometimes too much “saved in the nick of time” moments. All in all a nice read. Would recommend to the teen - young adult group.

Pleasantly Suprised!

I was not sure about this book when I decided to listen, but from the very first paragraph... the story captured me FULLY and COMPLETELY and kept me enthralled. The narrator did very well, although the voices could use a little tweaking for different characters, but over all it was a pleasant listen and the cadence was on point. The story was REFRESHING! The world was very well crafted so that readers could get a feel and I was drawn in. Overall... Wonderful Job to the writer and narrator! Can't wait to find out what is next in Book 2!

Fantastic New series!

I found this audiobook to be extremely entertaining! I found the storyline to be Unique and very different then my normal listen’s. The story is extremely well written and narrated.
The narrator does a amazing job with the characters and the voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between the characters.

Loved the narrator and story

Thought the narrator did a wonderful job. I thoroughly enjoyed this reading. The story has a fast pace, there is a lot of action, but also a good amount of heart.

Fair

It's an interesting world with a diverse cast of characters but somehow it failed to move me.

Perhaps Sage is a unsympathetic protagonist or perhaps there is something missing in the plot or world building, but this good story doesn't quite become great.

Still worth checking out of you like dystopian futures.

Alright book.

Intriguing. Story was pretty good. Narration was good. Not a page turner but it was surprisingly a good book.

Wasn't expecting much but it beat expectations

So, I'm currently walking a very long way on my own, so only have audiobooks and my thoughts to keep me company, before I left, I downloaded as many free books as I could fit on my phone, while some have been total busts, this one has impressed me greatly, the narration by Stephanie actually makes the story come to life, makes the book her own.

The only real negative is some of the characters (well one) is INCREDIBLY annoying but then, even the book reminds you, you remember that they're still a child and, lets be honest, all children are annoying, very relatable

10/10 very much looking forward to the sequels

Best book I've listened to in a long time

If your a fan of authors such as Bella Forest &/ Victoria Aveyard I highly recommend this book. The Setting and story is top notch about a girl who wakes up without her memories surrounded by people superior to her in every way and she tries to survive this world and rescue her brother with unlikely allies and a touch of romance . Narrator is expressive and engaging as well :) definitely worth a listen
