Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan returns to the world of paranormal in the thrilling and dynamic new Aspen Pack series.

The betrayal that had nearly taken out the Aspen Pack has passed, but the ramifications of starting with a new hierarchy are taking their toll on Audrey Porter. Once traitor to the former leaders for trying to save their people, she’s now the beta of the pack and must try to hold their shattered remains together. Only she never expected the man from her past to awaken memories long since buried.

Gavin Powers is the new Tracker for the Aspen, yet it feels as though he’s always been part of the pack, rather than a newcomer trying to heal a people long since thought forgotten. There are secrets within the den that could alter how the world sees shifters, and if Gavin isn’t careful, his attraction to Audrey could ruin everything.

There is a mysterious new enemy on the horizon, one long since vanquished into myth. As the darkness surrounded the Packs is unveiled, it will take a wolf and a lioness to unbury the past and fight for their future—or risk losing everything before it begins.

Etched In Honor

This is the first book of the Aspen pack. I have to wonder if I missed knowing more about the pack’s past since I have not read the Talon’s or Redwood’s. You don’t need to read those first before you read this one. I am just wondering since the packs have become intertwined if I missed the answers to some of the questions I have in those books. I have faith a lot will come out in Chase’s book since he is the Alpha. I also feel like I need to say I love the interaction between Chase and Audrey. Every time it made me smile. Audrey is a not just a lion-shifter living with a wolf pack she is also the Beta of the pack. Gavin is a new comer with a past he can’t remember but as soon as he is in the den feels like he is home. The secrets the Apsens hold are what makes them who they are. The Alphas of some of the other packs know because they are trying to for an alliance. There is a new enemy….. did you expect me to tell you? Noooooo. Read it if you want to know because it is a major spoiler. Audrey also has secrets of her own that are coming out of her past and taking her for a ride. I am so excited for the next book I can’t stand it! I also really need to go read the Talon and Redwood series.

The narrators were a perfect fit for this story.

Great start to the new Aspen Pack series.

Great start to the Aspen Pack series. I was a little lost since I'm not up-to-date on the shifter stories prior, but the backstory helped. Audrey is the Beta of the pack but keeps the torture and trauma she endured from her packmates. Gavin is a new tracker to the pack but he is also Audrey's mate that she lost 30 years ago. He has no memory of them being mated until a bite from a vampire restores his memory. Audrey and Gavin finally get their HEA that they were denied decades ago.

This story kept me engaged as this rebuilt pack finds the strength to fight off a new enemy...vampires.

Fantastic Start

Carrie Ann does an amazing job of world-building with her shifter series and her narrators, Aiden Snow and Kit Swann, were perfect in bringing the story to life. They made you feel the sorrow of losing a loved one, the chaos as fighting broke out amongst a long forgotten enemy, and finding and falling in love with your mate. And Kit, she was phenomenal at voicing the anger and threats of the vampires.

Great start that has me looking forward to the next in the series.

Great return to the packs

This is the first book in the Aspen pack series. It is a return to the shifter world started with the Redwood Pack, continued in the Talon pack and now we have the Aspen pack. All the series are separate and each story is stand alone with each pack having an overlying storyline. This book brings us Audrey’s story. We met her with the Talon pack as the Aspen Beta and she still is. She is always trying to protect and help others without asking for help for herself. When a new wolf comes to the pack, past events are brought to light. Gavin is a wolf who is without a pack and has no memory past the last 30yrs. He was found by a pack in Europe, though he is American. He is brought to join the Aspen pack as a tracker. When the two meet Aubrey is shocked how he looks exactly like someone she lost. Unsure at first how to act with him, the two take a while to make things work. Then things change again and Gavin’s past returns to him. I don’t want to give things away which is hard as there are many different turns in this book. I loved Audrey and her strength and I loved Gavin finding who he truly is and the two finding home together. Great return to the packs and I am so looking forward to the rest of this series. The narrators did a fantastic job with this story.

Great start!

I've read some of Carrie Ann Ryan's stories but this is a first for audible and it made me want to listen to more.
The characters are appealing with a nice bit of background to carry us into the present.
A bit of drama and mystery along with a lost love found.
Add in a vampires that have knowledge and wish to take over and yes, this has a bit of it all to drawl in the most devoted
fan and I would bet bring her some new fans at that.
The ending of course is a cliff hanger.....that promises us there is a whole lot more to look forward to!
Definitely recommend it!!!

The Shifters are BACK!

I am so glad to be back into reading the shifter world that Carrie Ann Ryan created. I fell in love with the Redwoods and Talons and now getting to know the Aspen pack is so special. I loved getting to really understand Audrey and her story as she was always so elusive and mysterious in the Talon pack series. I wanted to root for her but was cautious. Now I am so glad I had faith in her. Gavin is new to the scene of this shifter world and there is definitely something about him I wanted to get to know. I loved all the adventure and mystery built into this book. I cannot wait for more.
The narrators did a truly fantastic job with this book. I loved listening to the story coming alive.

Great start to a new series!

Etched in Honor is the first book in a brand new series (the Aspen Pack) by Carrie Ann Ryan. I had the honor of getting an ARC of the audiobook and there is so much to say about this book.

The Aspen Pack is rebuilding itself after the former Alpha of the pack had killed so many members for dominance. The beta of this "new" pack is the same beta as the former pack Audrey. She is a lion shifter who was tortured by the former alpha for trying everything she could to save her pack but feels unworthy of the position after so many people had died. She had a mate about 30 years ago and he had died as well. Gavin, a wolf shifter and tracker, is joining the Aspens after being a nomad for so long not feeling like he belonged anywhere. He lost his memory and has no recollection of anything from 30 years prior and before. That is all I am going to give on that as to not say any spoilers.

These two must learn to trust in each other, as well as themselves as they do not feel like they are worth the positions given to them by the moon goddess. They have to learn rely on others and not take the load on themselves. This book has great world building, and new enemies. You also get to catch up with some characters from other pack series which is always fun.

I do recommend reading the other packs before starting this series so things make a bit more sense right away. This book is a great action book and the romance between the couples is more of a background of the actual story; not a bad thing, the book is still great! But if you are looking for a swoon worthy read this isn't it.

ARC exchanged for honest review.

My first PNR experience!

This is the first ever paranormal romance I have read or listened to. Don't come for me! That being said, I went into this audiobook with an open mind. There was romance. There was the fantasy, PNR, magical thing.

Audrey lost her love, her mate Basil years ago. Their mated bond was broken. Not only that, but it seems that they're rebuilding their pack after loss, fighting, and betrayal. When Gavin appears, it's like they've known each other somehow. When they shifted to their animal selves that was fascinating to listen to how they felt as it happened.

Carrie Ann Ryan truly has talent. I'm convinced she's made of magic herself because not only does she write different types of books, she manages to convince me that I need to read/listen to all the books.

Aiden Snow and Kit Swann as narrators made my first PNR experience a fabulous one. The talent they both have brought the story to life and made it a magical experience for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

New shifters have arrived

This is the first book in the new Aspen Pack series. It's been years since we've had a shifter book from Ms Ryan. It is such a joy to have these characters in my life. I never thought I would enjoy such books, but I find myself so looking forward to them. Not every author can write paranormal/shifter books, but Ms Ryan proves she is a master at it.

I loved seeing a female in the hierarchy and Audrey is a strong female. However, she harbors guilt and demons from her time with the previous Aspen Pack hierarchy. Gavin has no memory of his past until he's bitten by a vampire and all of his memories come flooding back. Will Audrey and Gavin be able to move forward from their pasts? Will they be able to come to terms with their past and have a future with each other?

Goodness, these two will make beautiful babies. I can't wait to see if they have wolf or lion cubs (or both).

God how I love Aiden Snow narrating the shifter books. He has such a perfect voice for it. He's gruff and growly and alpha. Kit Swann continues to be a great female shifter narrator. Not many can pull off a strong female shifter character, but she did justice for Audrey.

Fantastic first book

Book 1 in Aspen Pack series by Carrie Ann Ryan
Audrey is pack Beta but that hasn’t come easily as her previous pack leader abused his position and held her captive and tortured her.
After finally winning the pack war and old pack leader son takes over and everyone try’s to make a new life and new members begin to settle and make a start.
This pack has a lot of different shifter and I find that really new for this writer that usually just has all wolf etc.
I love the twists in this book and developments that kept me hooked completely. Can’t wait for more audiobooks in this series.
Aiden Snow and Kit Swann do an absolutely amazing voices and do the book justice with there amazing narration.

Great start for the Aspen pack!

It’s a new beginning for the Aspen pack. I like the story of the Beta with kind of guilty conscience and the newcomer who looks just like her dead mate. So while that is happening the undead creatures lurking around other packs seem to make their way to them and they will show up and try to take over. Exciting first book, lots of suspenseful moments and of course an awesome romance with solid characters. Loved the listen and the narrators.

Etched In Honor

This is my first fantasy/shifter book, they are not my usual listen, however, I love Carrie Ann Ryan and her writing is always amazing. I actually ended up liking the book and really enjoyed Gavin and Audrey's story. It's a story of love, second-chances, and had great romance. It has plenty of action/suspense and just a great and engaging story. A great series starter with wonderful narration.

Incredible

You will need tissues, oh you will need tissues. That one person can go through so much and still be an amazing and caring person, the characters I met were just next level. I found the storyline to be exciting and fast paced with brilliant pacing. Each time I start a Carrie Ann book i know it will be impossible to return to real life until the end and I never want to press pause

The narration choice with this one was incredible there was so much feeling and emotions that the narrator passed on and it made it just that next level.

Did not see the bleepers coming

I thought Audrey had suffered enough under that horrid ex alpha of hers. I was wrong. she suffered more than I can ever imagine, losing your Mate just after you found them would be unimaginable - but she shouldered that soul wrenching burden as well as what she saw and had to do under her previous alpha. she is beyond strong, beyond amazing and I want to give her a great big squish....then we have Gavin, just when you think the tissues can be put away, here comes Gavin and the emotions come all over again. I cried with them as they started their journey only to find that once again their love isn't on an easy path and a BLEEPER is discovered (nope I am not gonna spoil it) suffice if to say this book is amazing and I cannot say how much I loved it. I'm a reader, Carrie Ann Ryan is the author, I'll just send hugs and love through this review
