Story
Love should burn slow, but with Ezra "Ethic" Okafor it is always fast and fleeting. After an accidental killing affects Alani, the woman he loves, she thinks he's a monster. Separated by tragedy, the pair endure a loss like nothing they have ever felt, and their connection is impossible to repair. Ethic is reduced to misery and raising his children alone once again. With Morgan in the throes of a passionate love affair and Bella in need of guidance that he can't provide, Ethic is in turmoil. He's failing as a man, and the fingerprint he is leaving on the world is a bloody one.

Publisher's Summary
Ethic has power, but love has always been evasive. After ordering the hit that mistakenly killed the love of his life, Ethic is haunted with guilt and refuses to love again. Focused on being a better man and keeping his family safe, he is raising three children, one of which is a defiant teenage girl, Morgan. No matter how hard he tries to keep Morgan away from the streets, she is determined to defy him. When Morgan finds herself in a vulnerable position, Ethic is pulled back into the deadly game where he was once king.
In this explosive spin-off to Ashley Antoinette's Moth to a Flame, you will fall in love with Ezra Okafor, a.k.a. Ethic, as he gambles on love and in the streets in hopes that this time he will win.

Ethic Review
I loved the story line but I just don’t like how Morgan was deaf and she could hear completely fine in the other book. I mean Mazan called her baby girl and she would respond ... but this book states she was born deaf... impossible. She also talked throughout the whole book “Moth to a Flame” but this book states that she only talked once and was made fun of for the way she spoke. The character names where mixed up too a few times but I still understood. However, I love this story and have read the books more than once!

Inconsistant story and terrible narration
Why is Morgan deaf? I'm usually very pleased with Ashley's books, but this one leaves me wondering if she had a different author write this book or Moth to a Flame, the prequel, because Morgans story line doesn't make sense. Also, the narration of this book was hard to get through. I wanted to return this story for many reasons, narration being the main, but I liked Ethic in the Prada Plan series and I'm interested in how is story ends. Hopefully Ethic 2 is better.

Good Story Terrible Narration
The story was very good but the narrator almost ruined it for me. She read too fast and used incorrect inflection throughout the entire book. She also mixed up a lot of the characters names which made it difficult to keep track of what was occurring in several of the scenes. I kept listening because there are so many more books in the series and she’s not narrating any more of them.

Storyline was good but made up sequel.
Let me first say that I usually love this author but she slipped up with this sequel. In book 1 (Moth to a flame) Mo was an outgoing, talking, hearing able little girl. But, this book starts with Mo being a deaf mute, and says she's been that way since birth. How is That? If she wasn't in book 1? Also there is no mention on how, when, why Ethic moved to Flint. Story just starts out with him living there. Was a lot of unexplained differences from where Moth to a flame ended.
The narrator did a good job with voice changes and giving each character there own flare BUT, the pauses were way to long and way to many. It was so annoying and frustrated, so many times I kept looking at my phone to see if I paused the book or something (That's how long the pauses were after every 3 or 4 sentences.)
Now that ALL the negative I feel is spelled out, let me say the positive.
The storyline is good, kept me interested and wanting to see what happens next. From trifling fake friends to hard core gangsters having a soft side, this book touches bases with them all. I was laughing at times and crying at times. If you don't get caught up with facts from book 1 not adding up in this book, and you get passed the annoying pauses so often and long, this book will be a great listen in my opinion.
Can't wait for book 3....but PLEASE Mrs. Antoinette don't change up things with the characters that weren't in this book. And please let the narrator not pause SO Much and SO LONG in Ethic 2.
