Publisher's Summary

"There is no writer quite like Dolly Alderton working today and very soon the world will know it.” (Lisa Taddeo, author of number one New York Times best seller Three Women)

“Dolly Alderton has always been a sparkling Roman candle of talent. She is funny, smart, and explosively engaged in the wonders and weirdness of the world. But what makes this memoir more than mere entertainment is the mature and sophisticated evolution that Alderton describes in these pages. It’s a beautifully told journey and a thoughtful, important book. I loved it.” (Elizabeth Gilbert, New York Times best-selling author of Eat, Pray, Love and City of Girls)

The wildly funny, occasionally heart-breaking internationally best-selling memoir about growing up, growing older, and learning to navigate friendships, jobs, loss, and love along the ride.

When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming an adult, journalist and former Sunday Times columnist Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all. In her memoir, she vividly recounts falling in love, finding a job, getting drunk, getting dumped, realizing that Ivan from the corner shop might just be the only reliable man in her life, and that absolutely no one can ever compare to her best girlfriends. Everything I Know About Love is about bad dates, good friends and - above all else - realizing that you are enough.

Glittering with wit and insight, heart and humor, Dolly Alderton’s unforgettable debut weaves together personal stories, satirical observations, a series of lists, recipes, and other vignettes that will strike a chord of recognition with women of every age - making you want to pick up the phone and tell your best friends all about it. Like Bridget Jones’ Diary but all true, Everything I Know About Love is about the struggles of early adulthood in all its terrifying and hopeful uncertainty.

Loved it

I read an article with the author about this book on Apple News. I thought it would be an interesting and funny book. This book definitely exceeded expectations. The author was funny and serious at the same time. The recipes and other stories mixed in were very good as well. While I could not necessarily identify with all of the authors escapades, I could understand where she was coming from and this book definitely hit home with some of her stories. I Would highly recommend. The performance/reading of the book was very well done as well. Again would highly Recommend.

A story that hits so close to home

The story delves into the complexities of a sensitive and nostalgic woman who learns about the meaning of love through her 20s. Witty, poignant and impressive in its ability to highlight commonalities we thought belonged only to us. A worthwhile read for anyone.

Floating in a Sea of Love

Just thinking about how much I love this book makes me tear up. I think anyone would be touched by these stories, but especially if you are a young woman you will. It's made me laugh and cry no matter how many times I relisten to it. I'm going to get the paperback as well so I can dog-ear and highlight my favorite parts. Thank you Dolly for these stories and your lovely writing.

A LOVEly listen

Thank you, Dolly.
An intensely relatable, affecting account of what it is to be a woman striving to understand love in all its many forms.
Listened to this on the back of a very recent break-up, and I’m glad I did.

Beautifully reflective and beautifully told

I found myself wishing this book had been written and I had read it in my early 20’s so that I might have clutched some pearls of wisdom before making similar mistakes/fumbles or even giving me the courage to trust in ones abilities. Even though a memoir I found myself relating so much to Dolly’s life experiences with friendships, men and myself - now in my early 30’s, this book had me reflecting a lot on what it means to be loved. Whilst I’ve always been keenly aware that there are different types of love and they fill in different gaps and areas - it felt particularly poignant hearing it from another women roughly around my age. Dolly has an uncanny ability to story tell and paints a vivid picture not only in your mind, but also in spirit.

Fantastic

This is a wonderfully light-hearted story. The narration/voiceover performance was great. Very relatable narrative for a woman in my late 20s. I LOVED the chapters “Everything I Knew About Love at XYZ age” - spot on. The ending is also adorable. Highly recommend.
