Publisher's Summary

Can you live a lie?

It’s a ghost town, this place that haunts me, the one that made me. It’s clear to me that I’ll never outgrow Triple Falls or outlive the time I spent here.

I can still feel them all, my boys of summer. Even when I'd sensed the danger, I gave in. I didn’t heed a single warning. I let my sickness and my love both rule and ruin me. I played my part, eyes wide open, tempting fate until it delivered. There was never going to be an escape.

All of us are to blame for what happened. All of us are serving our own sentences. We were careless and reckless, thinking our youth made us indestructible, exempt from our sins, and it cost us all. I’m done pretending I didn’t leave the largest part of me between these hills and valleys, between the sea of trees that hold my secrets. It’s the reason I’m back. To make peace with my fate. And if I can’t grieve enough to cure myself in my time here, I’ll remain sick. That will be my curse.

But it’s time to confess...to myself more so than any other, that I’d hindered my chances because of the way I was built, and because of the men who built me.

At this point, I just want to make peace with who I am, no matter what ending I get. Because I can no longer live a lie.

The Ravenhood trilogy is a gritty, modern-day take on Robin Hood filled with suspense, thrills, and all the feels.

Joe Arden deserves an Audie 🏆

This review is for the three book series.
I waited to start until all three books were on Audible and I’m glad I did! The wait would’ve driven me crazy!
The first book was the lightest. It was spicy and fun and started laying the groundwork for the twists. It tells the story of Cecelia, Sean and Dominic. It also lays the groundwork for the Ravens and the story with Roman.
The second book introduces Tobias into the story. It does not have the light, fun, flirtiness that book one has. It is much more substance and not as much good-times. This is the book that will make you sob. Be warned.
The third book is the unraveling of the twists in order to give the reader the entire story…all of the secrets are revealed, all of the motivations are explained. All loose ends are tied up…except who gave her the necklace.
The entire story is deep and twisty and angsty and rich.
The performances were incredible.
Maxine was terrific. Her tone and reactions were great. The emotion she put in to every scene was a perfect representation of what the character was feeling.
Joe Arden. Wow. I’ve always been a big fan and Joe is a one-click for me but…this was an entirely different Joe Arden. The different voices and personas he created for these men were superb. And the French accent! Wow. The emotion and passion he conveyed gave me goosebumps. Utter perfection.
It should be said that the editing was great also. The way the dialogue was cut together really elevated the scenes.
Overall, this audiobook was superlative in every way.

THIS BOOK TORE MY HEART & OWNED MY SOUL

Oh..My..God Kate, what a beautiful, twisted, tragic and tortured journey of life.. and love.. and despair.. and devastation.. and love.. and heartbreak.. and loss .. and love. There’s secrets, deception and very little truths or trust.. there’s unbelievable twists and turns and tear-filled scenes that will rip your heart in two.. there’s passion and love so deep you feel it through every single chapter. It started with a Summer love and a beautiful love story with secrets.. but, over the year Cecilia spent in Triple Falls, she fell hard for her one true love.. and it would leave wounds so deep on hearts that would never totally heal.

I couldn’t put this gripping unique story down because it absolutely OWNED ME body and soul from the start to the end as the well-written compelling chapters of lust, lies, limits and love gripped me till the end. This journey of love weaved itself entwined root-deep in Ravenhood.. a cause which will match sweet with toxic.. tender with brutal.. beautiful with ugly.. real with raw.. passionate with painful and love with profound loss. The broken heal.. the happy ever afters do come.. but the price is heavy.. and this spectacularly awesome story crushes you before making you whole again.

Worth a credit? YES.. YES.. YES.. 100% YES - it’s the BEST STORY I’ve ever listened to and it’s packed full of kind, cruel and delicious feels in a tightly woven web any spider would be proud of. Then there’s the duet-style narration by Joe and Maxine who were an ABSOLUTE JOY to listen to as the passion and pace ebbed and flowed and together they made a very memorable 10 star audiobook. There’s no cliffhanger but still I desperately look forward to the third book in this Trilogy.

This book is a huge bummer

I absolutely ADORED the first book, but this was a completely different animal. I was expecting the same sort of spellbinding, sexy, delightful story and instead, it was a really sad story that brought me down when listening. I like these type of books in order to get a break from the stressful world, but this book will make you cry, mourn, and bring you down. At least it did me. I didn't completely hate it, but the sadness, heartbreak, and pain was just not what I was expecting. I would have stopped after the first book if I knew! But I just kept listening, thinking "things have to get better, right...." but truly, most of this book if a huge freaking repetitive bummer of heartbroken text. Heavy topics of love, loss, and grief. Not light or sexy listening. That being said, the performances are great. Just be aware; If you were attached to the characters, charm, love, and heat of the first book, this book will crush that for you.

Audio perfection!!

Wow!! This audio has blown me away. I read the book first and completely fell in love with it, but I felt every single emotion listening to this book. Joe & Maxine did such an amazing job with this and it’s by far my favorite. I could not stop listening and wanted more. This style of narration is how I wish all audios were done.

Tobias and Cecelia

Quotes:
"It's the hurt that remains, that will probably always remain, but for the moment, it's a bearable throb."
"...I wore my mask until I grew into it..."
"I've never met a woman so willing to brave her own destruction for just a little truth."

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible purchase and Kindle Unlimited borrow. Single POV (Cecelia's). Duet narration. Book 2 in The Ravenhood trilogy. Listed as 14 hours 24 minutes; I listened at speed 1.50 for 9 hours 36 minutes (the last 15 minutes is a preview of book 3). Narrators: Maxine Mitchell read well in an average American accent but I think her voice is too mature for the main female character; Joe Arden read well and adopted a French accent for the majority of his dialogue but also briefly read in an Average American accent and a British accent. There is quite a bit of French dialogue and all of it is immediately translated except once at the end of chapter 14 (the phrase translates to "I don't want to be just a phase for you."). F*ck is mistranslated in French throughout. As in the previous book there are multiple weird overlapping narration moments that I wouldn't read that way in the ebook. Trigger warnings: drug use; murders; betrayal; dubious consent; Cecelia is drugged and tattooed while unconscious without her consent; a couple dies in a warehouse fire; 2 people die of cancer.

Aggravating: 1) Timeline issue with Cecelia's age, in book 1 she was 18 then celebrated her 19th birthday but now less than a few months later she's 20. 2) Still lots of questions, confusion, and mystery. 3) This is not a romance and I have yet to find the Robin Hood in this story. 4) 6 years, Cecelia waited 6 years to return!?!?!?! DNF

I’m sure my opinion is unpopular but I just couldn’t get into the second book. The first book lured me in and I developed strong emotions and became invested in the relationship between Cecilia, Sean and Dominic. In this book, the two male love interests are out of the picture and now Cecilia is in this forbidden entanglement with Tobias. And there’s just always heartache, doom and gloom on the horizon. What was the purpose of the first book? I just can’t get past my disappointment and the weird turns in this story…no motivation to move forward. Did not finish and do not recommend. Great narration though!!

Oh, the twisted webs we weave....

The narration for this book was just absolutely stellar. I've listened to many books with these two narrators, but the emotion in this brought their craft to the next level. Man, this book was such a bummer. I have the romantic heart Cecelia is plagued with and it was rough at times when being told how not everyone gets that happy ending, seeing her trapped in the past by love, and being tormented in the present by it. The complicated story that unfolds as the book goes on is a mind**** to be sure, and while an amazing story, it's also depressing as heck at some parts! The emotional rollercoaster this woman is on reminds me of certain points in my life, where you just feel absolutely ravaged and gutted by love, like it has taken every bit of your soul and stomped it into dust until there's nothing left to give. But while women that have that romantic heart may be crushed by it, they're also all the stronger for it and Cecelia embodies that strength as well. Although he attempts to reinvent herself seem to be in vain, she gains knowledge and understanding of herself and the people she cares for through each evolution of herself. Tobias makes me want to scream and crack him up the head a few times to get his mind right, but Cecelia better end up happy with this man by the end or I swear, I'll riot. After all the talk about and stories of people not getting their happy love story ending in this series, the main character deserves and needs it in her story. I can't wait to see that happen so my pathetic romantic heart can relax in the solace that while love doesn't always conquer against the odds, sometimes it does.

Buckle up

You’ll get thrown around on the rollercoaster of emotions this book will take you on. Brace yourself for high highs and low lows. You’ll love, lose, laugh, cry, and ache. Other reviews say this book is terrible, but I say it reflects life’s imperfections and I loved it all the more for it.

I have read this book before and I loved it then, but listening to it just gave it a different air. Both the narrators were amazing and did a fabulous job bringing this book to life. Just brilliant Thank you Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden for the amazing performances and Thank you Kate Stewart for the amazing story 👏👌

A rollercoaster of emotions

Branching out from my usual genre of reading I stumbled across Flock and I am glad that I did! I listened to the first two books in this trilogy in 2 days and I needed to sit with them before I started on the final one. The ugly crying I have done has been mind blowing, I have never had an author or book make me feel so many emotions before.

Flock is a rollercoaster, you never quite know where you are, or what's going on and you still don't fully understand when it ends.

Exodus broke my soul in a way that no other book has done before. I have and still am an emotional wreck and I don't think I will ever fully recover from the events in this book.

The Final Chapter gave some much needed clarity on the first two books and I definitely needed it to start to heal.

Trying to review without giving away the mystery of this trilogy is hard, all I can say is READ/LISTEN to these books. You will not regret it. The story is made even better by, in my opinion, amazing narration. This trilogy has altered my soul! I have just preordered the physical copies because despite the rollercoaster of emotions and emotional mess I am at the moment, I know that I will revisit these time and time again. Kate Stewart has become a top 3 author after this trilogy and I can't wait to dive into her other books.

left reeling!

3.75 🌟

Wow! I definitely got more than I bargained for!

I dipped into this book with trepidation not having been that impressed with #1 but I had to know who the Frenchman was and what happened to dad.

Well all I can say that this was a complete roller coaster with all the angst but it did feel that there was far too much rolled into one book! I suppose the author had to tie up all the loose ends and it feels a bit like whiplash!

I note that this was supposed to be a duet and now there is a third book, so I hope it's not a let down after all this excitement and we hear more about what the Ravenhood actually do apart from party, kill and help poor souls.

Joe Arden was superb with the narration of the Frenchman!

Holy shoot, man was this book So heartbreaking, I think I cried the whole time. 😢 this one was a Rollercoaster of emotions, but so damn good. There was happy tears, sad, and tears for the people that was lost. Man even written this is making me emotional, but I do have to say this is a great series, I still have one more book to go but damn once you start you don't want to stop, you want to keep reading because you want to know whats going to happen next.

It should be subtitled, “Angry Sex”

With all the lips colliding, and bodies colliding.. this book can be at times, a , train wreck.
By book 2 I’m invested in the characters so I persevere.
I don’t think I’ve been so irritated by a main character before.
She’s completely co-dependant, and makes me cringe as a woman at times.
But like I said, I’m invested in the characters, and will probably go onto the third book to finally put myself, and it’s characters out of their misery.

Heart wrenching emotional investment

I hadn’t realised how emotionally invested I was in these flawed loveable characters until I too lived their heart stopping emotional ride. I laughed, swooned and sobbed. I am speechless - I can’t breathe. Such an emotional rollercoaster bringing out so many different emotions and at one point i was a sobbing mess. The story and characters stayed with me for days. I thought Flock was fantastic but Exodus was EPIC! The narration was superb- Joe Arden amazing. The characters so real.
