Publisher's Summary

The ultimate medical guide to EMDR therapy for treatment of phobias, PTSD, and panic attacks!

Do you want to help people overcome their worst memories?

Are you constantly looking to improve and learn new things in your career?

EMDR Is an internationally recognized effective treatment for trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, and other disorders.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy developed in 1987. It works to alleviate and ultimately resolve disorders such as PTSD, eating disorders, phobias, and panic attacks.

Patients are asked to recall distressing images and disturbing memories. The therapist then uses bilateral sensory input, asking the patient to perform eye movements or hand tapping. In fact, this is where the name of the therapy originates.

Doctors who master the basic principles, procedures, and protocols of EMDR therapy can help their patients turn negative experiences into adaptive learning. Bilateral stimulation is just one of the components of this therapy - doctors must use a holistic approach and adjust the protocols to the specificity of each patient’s pathology.

This guide will teach you about:

  • History of EMDR therapy
  • The basis and evolution of therapeutic practices
  • Static experience and adaptive information process
  • Different components and phases of EMDR therapy
  • Standard EMDR protocol
  • Changes and challenges in EMDR therapy

With any psychotherapeutic practice, the end result is often a matter of trial and error. EMDR therapy has been confirmed to work through numerous peer-reviewed studies and controlled trials. Training courses are offered by universities and freelance educators all over the world. For doctors, it’s necessary to go through the training! This guide will teach you all there is to know about EMDR, helping you to help people!

EMDR helped me clear up several issues in my life. I was hoping that the book had some insight into how to make it work outside of a therapist's office. It did not.
