Publisher's Summary

As if things aren’t already tough enough as the only girl on a college football team, Coach had to go and assign Zeke Collins as my roommate.

A cocky kick returner and my brother’s best friend who should have been ripped of that title years ago, he’s as infuriating as he is undeniably sexy.

I hate him, and for good reason—reason I won’t ever let him forget.

He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more.

I tell him I can handle myself, and I’m hell-bent on getting that point across to him and the rest of the nation watching the only girl in collegiate football.

The pressure doesn’t get to me. The scrutiny? I’m ready for.

But sharing very thin walls with Zeke Collins? I wasn’t prepared for that.

And the more we’re forced together, the harder it is to distinguish that pencil-thin line between hating him...and wanting him.

So good!

After listening to this book I love it even more. I mean I loved it when I read it. The narrators really brought the story to life and pulled me in.

One of my favorite genres, enemies to lovers. Who doesn’t love a good sports romance. These characters and this story were everything and more. Once I started Fair Catch I stayed up way past my bedtime. I devoured this book and can’t wait for more. This book has easily become one of my favorites by Kandi Steiner. Must read!

Loved this sports romance read

Kandi Steiner never fails to deliver such heart grabbing love stories. Zeke and Riley’s story has plenty of angst and chemistry between them. This swoon worthy, brother’s best friend, sports romance will be another fave read. Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams did a great job portraying both Zeke and Riley.

Angsty

If you are looking for some angst in an enemies to lovers sports romance, look no further. Kandi Steiner will tug on those heartstrings with this book. You also will get brothers best friend and forced proximity as additional tropes. It’s everything you could possibly want.

We get a kick butt female heroine, Riley, who is on her college football team due to a promise she made to her brother. She also happens to be assigned to ROOM with a guy, Zeke, who she just can’t stand. He’s her brothers best friend and lines start to blur and emotions develop and it all explodes from there.

I felt like this was a wild ride in all the best possible ways. Theres laughter, tears and all the feel good butterflies. Its a must read!

The narrators were new to me but fantastic. They kept me engaged with the story. I also feel like when I find new narrators they truly become those characters for me and their is no auditory confusion.

🏈 😍 Amazing story! 👏 🏈

I’m not a huge sports romance lover but I was intrigued when I saw the synopsis of Fair Catch. I mean, a female football player? I was in and totally on her side! We have a mix of several different romance genres like college sports romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and brother’s best friend romances… I feel like one of these genres will check a box for anyone who loves romance books. Kandi Steiner gives us Riley and Zeke. They’ve known each other since they were kids and were pretty friendly then. Zeke is best friends with Riley’s brother, Gavin. When an accident in high school paralyzes Gavin, Riley places all the blame on Zeke’s shoulders. Gavin, however, doesn’t place any blame on Zeke and continues his friendship. Riley and Zeke are forced to room together for the football team. Riley made the starter kicker for the team as a freshman. Can you imagine the trouble a female football player would cause for some players/people? Imagine it, it all happens. Riley doesn’t back down. She’s strong and a real inspiration to women all around. There are no men or women jobs!

Sorry, I totally feel like I can talk about this audiobook forever! It was just THAT good! Steiner was really able to give us two strong elements in this story. We have the romance side of the story between Riley and Zeke. Then we have the football side of the story as well. I was really impressed that Steiner was able to give us such a strong story with really two main points that didn’t even hit a 9-hour audiobook. The narrators, Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams played these two characters flawlessly! Really there is no other person that I could hear as Riley than Chiclana. She just really seemed to embody her characteristics and gave breath to them. Williams was perfect as Zeke. He was strong and stoic. A great co-narrator for Hannah Chiclana.

Zeke and Riley are sooo amazing!

Riley and Zeke have been friends cause of Riley’s twin brother. When Riley and Zeke’s friend ship gets strained because of her brothers accident, and she blames him for her brothers being paralyzed. She promises her brother that she will become the football kicker and go to college and play for a college team too. So that is what Riley does, she becomes one of the best football kickers and gets on a team first girl on a all boys team. Zeke just happens to be on the same team and they become roommates. What happens when force proximity comes into play? What happens when the story of what really happened the night of the accident comes out? What happens when Zeke screws up?

I really enjoyed this story and the plot line. I loved that Riley was also the football player too! It made it for a fun ride and more sport moments which was really fun! I really loved how everything fell into place. With listening the only thing I have to say about the narration is that it seemed like the voices were a bit far out so it didn’t feel as intimate of a story but it was still good. I really loved the connection between Riley and Zeke. I loved how much football was in the story it wasn’t just like “oh this is a sports romance” but there’s only mention of a game here and there.

🎧 AUDIO ONLY REVIEW 🎧

#faircatch by @kandisteiner book #1 in a new series.

Audio: 4/5 🎧

Narration by @hannahchiclana and #chriswilliams

This was my first time listening to both narrators. I thought that they did a really good job of capturing the emotions of both characters. Both narrators were able to portray the full personality of the characters without falling flat or overcompensating. During hard times they captured the hurt and pain in which they spoke. I could totally relate to Rylie and her feelings for her roommate/ teammate and her relationship with her twin brother. I might have tweeked a couple parts of narration when they needed to read as the opposite sex, but overall a very well done job!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC when this book came out and I absolutely loved it. One of my favorite books so far this year. The ALC was almost as good as reading the book the first time. If you love a brothers best friend, friends to enemies to lovers, high sexual tensions with some angst, swoon and true feelings dipped in, this is 100% up your alley.

Emotional, Heartfelt, Steamy Romance!

This poignant and spellbinding tale of friends to enemies to lovers will hold you captive from beginning to end. Zeke is best friends with Riley's twin brother, Gavin, and they have all been close friends since they were young. Zeke and Gavin played football and Riley practiced with them in the yard all the time. Now they are in college and Riley is the first female kicker to play on a college team. There is alot of pressure on her and Zeke is there to protect her. After a tragic event, Riley hates Zeke and doesn't want his help. But when none of the other team members will room with her, she is forced to share a dorm apartment with Zeke. She ignores him at first, but when his own struggles become evident, she agrees that they can both help each other. As they become close again, they both have a hard time holding back their attraction and feelings for each other, and their chemistry is combustible! But will their relationship put their standing on the team and in school at jeopardy causing them to lose each other for good? This is a touching tale of loyalty and betrayal, of love and heartbreak, and ultimately of hope and healing. This story is a raw and emotional journey with several twists and turns that will keep you guessing.
Hannah Chiclana, Chris Williams were perfectly cast as Riley and Zeke. This is my first time listening to both narrators, and I loved their easy ability to make this story feel real and authentic. They made me laugh, cry, and fall in love. They completely pulled me in to this world and I felt like I was right there with Riley, Zeke, Gavin, and all their friends and family. They helped make this heartfelt, and sweet & steamy romance even more captivating!

Great story!

Riley Novo has all kinds of feelings about Zeke Collins and none of them are flattering. She blames Zeke for her twin brother Gavin's paralysis. Zeke hasn't corrected any of her assumptions about that night; it is his penance for hurting the one family that has welcomed him. Somehow Riley and Zeke end up as roommates in the team dorm at NBU. They're more enemies than frenemies, but their mutual love of football keeps the animosity off the field.

They tried to resist their mutual attraction, but it turns out to be futile. They make better lovers than enemies and when they finally give in, they make a formidable team both on and off the field.

Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams were amazing narrators. They brought Riley and Zeke to life. The characters became multi-dimensional that it felt as if I was right there with the characters!

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Emotional!

I like Kandi Steiner's writing. This is a sweet and emotional enemies-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, and sports romance. Zeke and Riley's story is beautifully written. Riley, the only girl in the college football team, is an amazing character, strong, independent, and determined. Zeke, also a team member, is handsome, tormented, and a great man, supportive, and caring. They are so perfect together. Their story is filled with drama. I loved Gavin (Riley's twin brother and Zeke's best friend) and I would love to have his story. This is an excellent New Adult Romance. Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams did a good job with the narration.

A perfect enemies to lovers-sports romance

Fair Catch is the complete standalone enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, forced proximity, sports romance story of Riley Novo and Zeke Collins.
Riley has known Zeke since they were kids and up until and accident which paralysed her twin brother Gavin and ended his promising football career she was infatuated with Zeke. However, since that fateful night she has treated him with nothing but disdain and playing on the same high school football team didn’t help the relationship. Fast forward to college and Riley is forced to spend more time with Zeke as not only are they teammates but also roommates.
Zeke is a truly misunderstood guy. The girl he’s had a crush on since he was a kid despises him and he can’t blame her, he was after all driving the vehicle that crashed and paralysed her twin brother and changed her life. Riley was a very accomplished soccer player until the accident when Gavin made her promise to take his place on the football team. When they both make the collegiate team and are forced to share a dorm, Zeke eventually manages to start breaking down her walls to form a friendship with her and the desire and sexual tension builds until they both finally give in to their feelings. Ummm hello super sexy shower steamy times.
This audiobook is narrated by Hannah Chiclana and new to me narrator Chris Williams. Hannah’s portrayal of the only female football player was superb. She conveyed the internal battle Riley had about Zeke perfectly. Chris’ performance was fantastic. He perfectly captured Zeke’s regret, his need for forgiveness and his wants, needs and desires. I loved this pairing and I’m looking forward to more from them.
I really loved this audiobook, it had all the tropes I love, a kickass heroine who takes on a predominantly male sport and f**king rocks at it, a hero with demons he must overcome, undeniable chemistry and plenty of banter with a side of angst, emotion, and a whole lot of steam!
I hope Kandi brings us Gavin’s story in the future, I loved the glimpses we got of him.

4. 75 stars

Very unique

4.75 ⭐ This was fantastic. It was kind of a twist on the classic brothers best friend trope and I just know how much the author loves the sport of football because they don't gloss over it and I love that. Despite how much Riley dislikes Zeke (with good reason, honestly) their chemistry burns up the pages and the fact that they are college football teammates...love that! Are the characters in this perfect? Far from it, but they own up to their mistakes and that's human. This book blew me away and I couldn't put it down, honestly. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

What an amazing listen!

There is so much goodness to this book! I absolutely fell in love with it! Kandi Steiner is an author that when I start a book, I know I am in for a treat. This new adult, sports, enemies to lover's romance touched my heart from the first chapter. Zeke and Riley have grown up together. Riley's twin brother and Zeke are best friends, but she has her reasons for hating him. Now in college, with Riley and Zeke on the football team, things are about to come to a head. What will become of these two? Now Steiner is a master of taking my heart, breaking it and putting it back together, and there are several instances in this book that she had my eyes welling up with tears and my heart full of love. Riley is a tough cookie. Being a girl on a football team, she deals with a lot. Zeke has taken it upon himself to be her protector, but I am not sure this feisty girl needs his help. Zeke has been through so much, carries so much on his shoulders and his love and loyalty is so pure, it's impossible not to fall for him. But I can definitely feel Riley's hesitancy and understand her thoughts. I love having her brother pop in once in a while and would love to get his story! This one is fabulous, and I highly recommend it.

Narrated by Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams, we have the perfect blend of new adult voices. Chiclana becomes Riley, taking us through her life with all the feelings. She is spot on with each nuance and creates a wonderful character. Williams shines as Zeke. This is a protective alpha male, with so much emotion and he pulls out all the stops to make Zeke realistic. I loved his collaboration and hope to hear more from this team.

Captures Your Heart & Mind! Great Story & Listen🎧

I enjoyed this book immensely, it is an amazing story, a combination of several tropes, enemies to lovers, brothers best friend, sports romance, and Kandi Steiner mastered them all. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. I adored the two lead characters, Riley Novo and Zeke Collins, Riley’s twin brother Gavin and Zeke are best of friends. But to put it mildly, Riley is not a fan of Zeke and does not think her brother should be still be friends with him. Riley is doing something her brother couldn’t do, she is playing college football and made on the division one team. The same college and team as Zeke and, to add insult to injury, they will be roommates. It is difficult for her to forget or forgive him for what he did, but the anger and hatred for him wanes, and she sees him in a different light and they realize they can help each other. A friend with benefits relationship develops and morphs in to more, they have a good grip on juggling their schedule, practice, playing, studying and classes, with some steamy trysts in between. All is going well, but then a bomb gets dropped on them and Riley feels betrayed again. My heart broke for these two, but I never gave up on them, rooted for them both on and off the field. This story is beautifully written and plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, some angst and romance to be remembered. Kandi Steiner, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Kandi Steiner cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that character’s persona and was believable in every role they played. Chiclana’s Riley was spot on, she grasped all her strengths and played her as the perfect badass that she was. Williams did the same for Zeke, grasped all sides of his personality. You could hear how much heart and feelings they put into their work as they captured the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and have you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already fantastic story to another level. Thank you for this great listen!

Gorgeous and poignant- all the feels

I actually read the ebook first but had to listen to this audiobook too because I loved the story so much.

First the story: This is a new adult enemies to lovers romance that was absolutely wonderful. Riley and Zeke were great- I absolutely loved the idea that Riley was a female football star (kicker) who hated Zeke because of she blamed him for her brother’s paralysis. The premise was realistic, beautifully characterized and age appropriate. It drew me into the story. As a reader who tends to now shy away from new adult romances (the characters are in their freshman year of college which feels really far away from my real life!), I have to say that the characters are so nuanced and the situations feel so appropriate and well fleshed out that I truly enjoyed this story. I look forward to the stories for the other characters in this world! Another win for Kandi Steiner!

Now, for the narration- it was good. I loved Hannah Chiclana and Chris Williams' voices because they really fit the roles. They sounded young and perfectly cast. Chris Williams was a little staccato and a little rigid, in my opinion but overall, their voices and reading drew me into the story,

Another delicious story by Kandi!

There is something about Kandi's writing that really hits a sweet spot for me. Loved this enemies to lovers, sports romance, & brother's best friend story. This book had the perfect level of angst, sweetness & sexiness. Loved Zeke & Riley! Excellent narration by Hannah Chiclana & Chris Williams (new to me narrator that I hope to hear more from!)
