A Great Listen
This is a great murder/mystery. The author focused on the making of a great story as opposed to writing another gay romp through the sheets, which was a great relief since the publisher is Harlequin I had my reservations. The story is well paced and holds interest up until the last word is spoken. Ray Ramano does an excellent job with narration. Very satisfying; this book was well worth the money.

Excellent First Experience...
This was my first audio book and I have to admit I was initially skeptical on whether I would enjoy the experience. The beginning was a bit hard to get into but once the story unfolded, I could not take the ear-bobs out! The characters of Tucker Lance and Elliot Mills were relatable and I became engrossed with their story. This was a great first experience. The story was engaging and the narrator did a good job in expressing emotion through his voice. And being a hopeless romantic, the book ended just as I thought it should with a surprise twist. Excellent First Experience and am already enjoying the next book...

Misogynist and racist
Lanyon writes the female characters with disdain and one can only cringe at his stereotyped and racist portrayal of the African American characters. The story itself is boring. The narration is wooden.

A Great Listen
This book was by far one of Josh Lanyon's best. If I would have been able to listen to the whole thing in one sitting I would have. It is truly one of those books where you spend half the time thinking "OMG whats going to happen next? I bet it was this guy!"

Ridiculous Characters
All of the characters in this novel were ridiculous. Missing persons and everyone is just like "Meh, they probably ran away". Someone is dead "Not surprising, they must have killed themselves" absolutely infuriating to listen to.
The "romantic plot" was by far one of the most infuriating thing about this book. Both characters are unnecessarily stubborn and their conversations literally make zero progress in developing their plot.
Don't even get me started on the portrayals of women, African Americans and Liberalism. This book is a mess.
Definitely, do not buy, there are better ways to write this kind of plot.

Mystery and suspense
Would you listen to Fair Game again? Why?
I would listen to Fair Game again when in the mood for a great, fast-paced, mystery and suspense story.
What other book might you compare Fair Game to and why?
Josh Lanyon's Dangerous Ground series - fast-paced, suspenseful, great adventures, mystery, and some romance as well, and Mexican Heat by Josh Lanyon and Laura Baumbach, which is an awesome thriller.
Which character – as performed by Ray Ramano – was your favorite?
Elliot Mills.
Who was the most memorable character of Fair Game and why?
Elliot Mills - he's tough, and a bit grumpy at times, but he's a softy really, and very caring. I enjoyed getting to know him - the way he approaches teaching, and watching him in cop mode, and how he is with the people around him, especially his father and ex-lover Tucker Lance.

Great story, not so great performance
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the storyline and plot of the novel. It was a good listen and a good length. The performance was a little too deadpan. Ray Ramano gave the characters very little emotion and didn't alter his voice with the changes in mood. Overall a good book that would be made better with a more enthused reader.

Good mystery. Passable romance.
Josh Lanyon is one of my go-to authors, and Ray Ramano as the narrator has yet to really disappoint me. When I got to the end of this book though, I had no trouble moving on to another. I didn't hate it or love it, I just thought it was fine-just-fine. This is mostly because it's not often that I like a gay romance novel and yet don't care whether or not the leading men get together. The mystery/suspense is good. Elliot and Tucker were pretty good characters on their own. Yet, at the end of the book when the mystery was solved and it was time to wrap up the romance, I didn't really care too much. These two men seem great in bed, but the emotional aspect, the 'relationship' was a stretch. I didn't buy that they were in love. I think they both just missed the sex when they were apart. In the end, they could have convincingly carried on as even-closer now-friends with benefit. Nothing wrong with that. So, two stars lost, because the gay romance shouldn't have to be padded to be convincing. Overall though, a solid read. Go for it!

Mystery, Romance & Guys with Guns
I'm always anxious about starting a new series specially an audiobook. Without delving in too deep about my personal criteria I'll just say I take a lot in to consideration before pressing that add to cart button.
The story itself was brilliant. I'm a huge fan of mysteries, crime drama and the M/M genre. I'm new to this writer and I'm absolutely pleased with the fact that I also enjoyed not just the story itself but his writing. I will be reading to more books by Josh Lanyon.
The Sawyer Allerde was good but I just think this particular series was not for him. His take on the characters it was nice. I'd give him another listen in a different series.

Good but...
Another enjoyable story from Josh Lanyon with a well realised mystery and a good look at the slightly dented relationship between Tucker and Elliot that is repaired during the course of the book. Good character development with Elliott making the bigger changes but in a way I think he had a little further to go so all in all I enjoyed it and will listen again.
However, it was let down a little by the narration as little effort seemed to be made to properly differentiate between the characters and I quite often struggled to know who was speaking before the speech tags were added. In comparison to the narrator of the Adrien English books it's a stark contrast.
Still 4 stars though.
