Story
With a name like Quinn Calahan, I sounded as Irish as a leprechaun dancing a jig on a four leafed clover, but the truth was, I’d never been closer to the emerald isle than drinking green beer at the St Patrick’s day street party in Boston until I messed up so badly I had to leave the US. I was offered a job in a tiny village in Ireland that no one’s ever heard of. And I think that was the point in sending me there.

Someone get this author a proofreader!
Fair Isle and Fortunes is book 6 of the Vampire Knitting Club series. In this book, Lucy's cousin Violet tells fortunes at a fair and when she warns a woman of her impending death, it quickly comes true. For whatever reason, it is automatically reasonable for everyone to question if there is a link between this murder and another murder many years prior where the circumstances and setting are totally different. It was a bit too forced for me.
My biggest issue with this book is that Lucy turns 26. In the first book, she was 27. The multitude of proofreading errors that have continued from book to book are starting to bebothersome.
I have been binging this series and haven’t been reviewing them in between each book. Some overall observations from the series so far (I have finished through book 8.5 and am almost through book 9) are that the stories are always cute and good for a short escape. I really enjoy the characters and have a vested interest in them. Something I have noticed, though, is that there isn’t continuity between books and the books really could have benefited from a proofreader. For example, in book 1, Lucy is 27 but in this book, she has her 26th birthday. In one of the books, Rafe is at least 600 years old, but in the next book, he is only 500 years old. Occasionally there is an incorrect name used or incorrect pronoun but I always know what was meant so it doesn’t confuse me or make it so that I can’t continue. Another thing that is missing, at least to the point I am at now, is any real information about the vampires. We don’t get to know anything about their abilities, only that they are vampires who feed via a blood bank. Even with the inconsistencies, I am hooked on the series and enjoy these easy-going, clean, cozy mysteries. It is a nice palette cleanser from the smutty stuff I typically enjoy.
The narrator is the same throughout the series and she does a great job. I recommend this series.

Much better than the last one
The last book had me getting frustrated with the author seemingly insulting the reader's intelligence by making the character dumber in order to maintain a "mystery" but I am glad to say this book was much better about that and renewed my interest in the next story in line. I look forward to reading it

Out of the Knit Shop and into the Witch Hunts
With a change of scene we find Lucy helping out at a local summer fair with her cousin Violet who is working as a fortune teller. Soon after Violet, using her actual prophetic abilities, gives bad news to all her customers one of them is murdered. In a small town the locals soon turn against Violet and a mob mentality starts to emerge with charges of witchcraft. Lucy is on the case and committed to rooting out the real murderer and getting the townsfolk to forget their fears about witches. Twists and turns and lots of interaction with characters new and old make this story another solid entry in the series. The narration continues to be wonderful and the romance remains very vague and undeveloped with Rafe being more forward in this volume and Ian almost non existent. I will say I felt there were some elements that were extremely forced in my opinion as Lucy immediately wants to connect the only two murders that have happened in this tiny town one is the present moment murder of a local in an open public fairground with clear intent and the other is a 30 year old cold case where a homeowner interrupted a burglary and was killed. Lucy immediately suggests this is a serial killer. This completely baffled me and felt extremely awkward, two murders with 3 decades of separation, no similarity in MO, one an accident and one a premeditated act of violence. It just felt contrived and like lazy writing to be honest mashing things together instead of creating a story that drew them into connection. Did not stop me from listening the rest of the world and characters are entertaining but the mystery story of the book I think is easily the worst so far in the series, which is still better than a good deal of cozies. I will be curious to see what happens in book 7.

Great but inconsistent with previous books
I still enjoyed this mystery but the fact that on the first book Lucy is announced as being 27 and then in this book she turns 26 is a bit disappointing.
