Story
Legendary tales of the lives of famous people and historic episodes. Of these 50 stories, some have historical value, some are useful as giving point to certain great moral truths, and others are intended only to amuse. A few of these stories are from very ancient sources and are current in the literature of many lands, while many of more recent origin have come to us through the ballads and folk tales of the English people. Nearly all are frequently alluded to in poetry and prose.

An early classic of American literature, The Red Badge of Courage tells the story of Henry Fleming, a young soldier in the Union Army, who flees the battlefield and later returns in shame, seeking to redeem himself by receiving a war wound - a “red badge of courage” - in the conflict. Hailed for over a century as one of the finest ever war novels, Crane’s tale is an early example of American realism and naturalism.

In his introduction to The Life of Abraham Lincoln, Henry Ketcham notes that there has been so much written about Lincoln that the legend has begun to obscure, if not to efface, the man. “In this biography the single purpose has been to present the living man with such distinctness of outline that the reader may have a sort of feeling of being acquainted with him.”

Terrible narration
Aside from the on going problem with long books and audible (non-existence of chapter titles, impossiblity to find a story of your choice, bad transition between stories), this book had another huge issue for me. The narrator does not suit me. Every story sounds the same. Every character sounds like a child or a woman, it is sooo confusing when you're supposed to be imagening a grown up male. And the narration is boring. I was so disappointed.

Would be a great addition to my audio library, but
The stories are listed as Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three, etc. with never a title of a story. Good luck at finding your favorite story buried in the forty something chapters. This makes what could be a very fun book to share with children or grandchildren absolutely useless. Wish I hadn't purchased it. I don't have time to listen to 41 and 1/2 hours to find The Little Match Girl or The Ugly Duckling.

Enjoyed listening to Hans C. Andersen Fairytales!
Great stories, listening like this made me realize what a heart for God this man had. I loved hearing the narrator use different voices. Also I loved hearing the Islands of Denmark pronounced in the Danish way. I lived there for 3 months and it was great to picture places he described! What fun. Also, each chapter was titled so we can know which fairy-tale is being performed! Loved this audio book!

Excellent narration poor formatting
Angele Masters reads the various stories beautifully. The problem with this huge collection is the difficulty in finding a particular individual tale. Other large collections provide a pdf which enables one to locate the specific chapter in which a story is narrated. This edition gives no such help. On the other hand, the free LibriVox recording lists the title and length of each separate story.
I was tempted to return the Audible version but the narration is so consistently excellent that I decided to make notes of the positions of my favourites but Audible should supply that material.

Gentle to listen to, poor navigation for such a mammoth book.
This appears to be an exhaustive collection of every Hans Christian Anderson fairytale ever published with over 41 hours of material. In such a mammoth collection of stories, it would have made sense to have chapter by chapter navigation, but each chapter appears to be an hour long so not easy to find individual tales in this collection. Also, there is no information on what is contained in each chapter so it’s difficult to identify where individual tales are located in the collection. Narration is good, if a little flat, however she is easy to listen to. All in all, I would have given this a higher rating if we could’ve had a better navigation experience.

Poor reading performance
HCA stories are great, what is a massive let down here is the reading performance.
Angele Masters has a high pitch voice, and is reading way too fast with a monotone.
My son (6yo) loves the stories but is not interested in listening to this because the voice is just not gripping enough
to bring him into the story.
Like she is reading a boring newspaper story on brexit.
Do not waste your $ or credit on this like I did.
