Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Monica Murphy comes an angsty new adult romance about the popular quarterback and the smart girl who brings him to his knees.

Jake Callahan. Prince of the popular crowd.

My mortal enemy.

Gorgeous. All the girls want him.

Quarterback. All the boys want to be his friend. He’s the most popular boy in the senior class.

And he hates me.

Or so I thought.

What I mistook for hatred turns out to be…interest. There’s that thin line, right? It makes me crazy. I can’t stand it. Attraction, chemistry, whatever it is, I also can’t resist it.

And neither can he.

Together, we make no sense. The odds are against us. His friends definitely don’t approve. I’m not a part of their crowd. Not one of the cool kids. I don’t fit in, or so they say.

But that doesn’t stop him from falling for me.

And it won’t stop me from fighting for him.

Sweet story great narration

It's a good story but the ending is a little abrupt and I wish we got a little more of them as a couple and some more resolution to a few of the friends relationships but overall I enjoyed and the narration really made the listen all that much better,

No value

Would have been nice to have Hannah' maintain her values and date the jock that she deeply despised , it continues to support the jocks get what they want .

Good if you like teenage porn

I would never recommend this book to someone as the main characters are high school students and the book describes explicit sex scenes between them. I definitely don’t want to hear specifics about some 17 year old guy’s penis and what his girlfriend does with it. I felt super sleazy listening to it.

High School HFN

I enjoyed the narration, the voices were perfect for the characters.

I didn’t love the story. I found it long winded and repetitive. There is a HFN ending (expected since it is a high school romance, but there was so much leading up to it, I was kinda hoping for a future look at where they are in their HEA)

Slow start, HS drama silly but cute.

Overall I kinda liked this story, but... This is a weird combo book. it takes place in HS, underage kids that eventually evolves a little too sexy (not sure who the audience should be YA or Erotica).

The dialog is extremely dull and juvenile but the internal talk of the indv characters makes up for some of it. The romance between these two is slow and sweet. Yet, the book could have benefitted from some serious editing. The BIGGEST problem is there is no conflict between this couple. Everything just keeps getting better and better... gag me! zzzzz

Male narrator great, but Female narrator below average. Her tone is mostly a staccato style monotone & the little inflection is poorly placed and makes a confusing delivery (upsetting words delivered happily & vice a versa). Ugh infuriating! Please hire a different narrator for next book! I wonder if I read the book separately rather than listen if I wouldn't have scored this book better.

Monica Murphy!!

This story was by Monica Murphy NOT Karen D! Good story without the overly explicit sex scenes! The female narrator, with the little girl voice, took away some enjoyment as the male characters sounded like pre-puberty adolescents.

Great love story

I really loved this story, I couldn’t stop listening. Jake and Hannah are perfect together, she brings balance to his life. I would love an update on their story, couple kids and marriage to ice the cake.

Loved the narrator’s they did a fabulous job of capturing the characters and helping to keep me in engaged with the story.

I’ve added some more stories from this author to my library, look forward to them.

Fabulous audio

Jake and Hannah's story was a fabulous listen. Sweet, emotionally charged, and realistic are the words that spring to mind after finishing their story. Teddy and Sarah did an amazing job.

"Popular star quarterback" Jake had his work cut out for him when he found himself intrigued by Hannah, as she was the "quiet artsy girl".

Despite their different social circles and their vastly different home lives, they just made sense.
She was the calm in his storm of a life.
The peace in his chaotic day.
A complete contrast to his ex-girlfriend.

Ugh... there is always one character that you wish you could delete. Right?
Yeah, well for me, that's Cami. She's the devil. The absolute worst. I can't stand her!
She doesn't have a single nice bone in her body.
Anyway, I digress.

I was a little disappointed by the lack of a HEA, it's a HFN finish, but no doubt we will see more of these two in the following books.
Still an absolutely fabulous book despite my dislike of the ending.
Highly recommend this series.

Sweet Story

What I love about this story is it’s relatable. I love the restraint the Author showed with her writing. The story was sweet, but not over the top. Jake & Hannah met and the relationship was a slow-burn, but I enjoyed the journey. What I’m not a fan of is the abrupt ending. I do hope we there is an update about them in the next book in the series.

Underwhelming

An easy listen but also underwhelming.
The flow wasn’t the smoothest and even though I liked the MCs at first I struggled to feel connected to them, they lacked definition.
Even the ending felt like just the end of a chapter.
