Story
After an exchange student with bubonic plague turns up in a Reno hospital, a contractor with identical symptoms dies in Los Angeles. The government‘s official stance is that the cases are isolated and the outbreak is under control. But George Mack, a 30-year public health veteran, quickly realizes this is no ordinary plague. The death toll is too high, and the spread pattern make no sense. As Reno’s hospitals fill with victims, Mack begins to believe that there is more to the epidemic than the CDC is letting on - and that he must take drastic steps if he hopes to save his city.

Oh Boy !
I have read many many zombie apocalypse books but these characters are some the dumbest people yet. How do you have cop not wanting to kill someone with infection if he is not feeling threatened. He turned he back and the guy almost killed him. Ellie there no words for her stupidity. Bill is not even worth talking about. Amanda at least has some survival skills. I’m only going to finish because I want to see who survives and who doesn’t and if the story gets better and the people get more in tune to surviving instead of wanting to help infected people that want to kill them. I’ll do another review when I finish.

Exciting and New Apocalypse
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this story. Michelle Ann Hollstein creates a detailed and attention grabbing story. I never saw some of the twists coming. This is different than other zombie type stories. Christopher DoQui did a wonderful job reading this story.
In the story we follow Ellie, Mike, Amanda, Bill and Bill's son Benjamin as they fight to survive. Each character faces their own set of circumstances and struggles. The way Michelle writes is so detailed you can perfectly envision everything! Its not just the infected they have to worry about but the crazy non infected too! This is a brillant twist to traditional apocalypse books and I can't wait to see what happens next!! Well worth a credit if you enjoy apocalypse books.

Great Book
Fatal Reaction: The Beginning by M.A. Hollstein was a great read. Ellie, Mike, Amanda and Bill find themselves in the middle of the apocalypse. People all around them are becoming sick; their eyes change color and they get a really bad fever. They are just trying to survive but unfortunately this is just the beginning. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Suspense, lots of action and an unexpected twist!
This is my first review and I am happy with the book. It was written in great details making you feel like you are watching rather than just listening. The narrator did a really good job particularly with the characters' voices.
At first I thought it's just another zombie-apocalyptic story, but the big twist towards the end was something I really did not expect.
The second book is surely something to look forward to.

Great Zombie Apocalypse Story!
I am currently OBSESSED with audiobooks, in particular but not solely zombie apocalypse books.
Fatal Reaction is a great ZA book, really enjoyed it! Very well-developed with nail-biting (and other biting haha) action, crazy twists & turns! Loved both writing and narration, really did an excellent job with this one, and I'm looking forward to more!
Twisty excitement abound, this is one I think anyone would enjoy! Great stuff :)

Loved it more then I expected
I am not a Dystopia fan, actually, I try and avoid books that are in this genre but I liked the description and decided I would give it a go.
I am so glad that I did! I thought the author wrote this book really well.
It flowed really well. I did not ask question of why as I was reading except for the obvious, which you will not find out until the characters find out themselves.
The story is told through five pov's, they are linked in some way but you don't find out until the story progresses.
one of the things I like about this book is that I was hooked from the beginning and things happen quite quickly so we don't have to wait until we get to chapter three until things go downhill. It helps that the story is fast paced and is full of suspense. You want the characters to succeed. There were some nail-biting moments.
There is a twist that I did not see coming even though it is not a new thing. Other authors have done the same but this writer did it in such a way that you think you know what is going to happen, then they surprise you.
There is violence, which doesn't surprise me and some profanity but not a lot. There is no sexual content except for one scene but this happens behind closed doors.
Would I recommend it? I actually would. I loved it. The author has me hooked and I am dying to find out what happens next.
The narrator is a good choice for this book. He voiced all the characters and put emotion into what they said, so I knew when they were scared, upset, angry or any other emotion without being told. I love narrators who do this because they also help in immersing you in the story.

The lucky survive
In this apocalyptic novel it's the lucky who survive, all the main characters make stupid mistakes that left me wondering how they managed to live.
There's lots of action, the descriptions are vivid and if you're after excitement this will fit the bill. The characters are well written and feel real. Very fast paced things go from live as usual to chaos in about a day and most of the book covers a very short period of time.
There's a major twist about 80% of the way through the book, I can see hot it's necessary if this is going to be a series, but it left me asking 'why?', it just doesn't make sense to me.
The narrator did a good job, the character voices are distinct and there are lots of them, the delivery helped build the tension in the story.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Zombies caused by aliens
I honestly wanted to like this. I love zombie apocalypse stories. That being said. This is a zombie apocalypse tale with several bumbling characters. Add in aliens that possibly caused the outbreak for good measure. I personally didn't care for this. The narrator has a pleasant voice. I received this for free for an honest review.

Suspense and more!
This isn't my usual kind of book to listen to, but I thought it sounded interesting enough and I was looking for something a little different. I'm glad I did because it's a pretty good story. There was a lot more to it than I expected. I had in mind a bunch of mindless zombies walking around feasting on unsuspecting people but this was a fast paced and suspenseful action book with a storyline that wasn't predictable and with characters who are likable and who I wanted to cheer on while listening. When it ended I found myself ready for book 2! This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

An most enjoyable book
I listen to this whilst gardening and pretty much got through the whole book in one go
A great beginning to a virus ridden world
It tells the story of various survivors each doing their best to stay alive and infection free
At the end there is an additional twist
The narrator took a while to get used to though
Looking forward to the next instalment

Couldn't finish it
It's a shame as the story seems a good one. In the end, the combination of the narrator and an infuriating writing habit meant I couldn't continue listening. The writer repeatedly writes the same sentence in the first then third person often 3 - 4x in the same paragraph. At first I thought the recording was jumping around. She felt scared......"I am feeling scared" she thought.....she hugged herself because she felt scared.....arrrrrrgh. The narrator doesn't help - he sounds like he's doing an infomercial for 5 year olds.

Unbiased review of Fatal Reaction:The Beginning
This story was brilliant. I found it gripping, but I found Christopher DoQui a little difficult to keep my attention. I did love the story itself. The characters did sometimes have me screaming at them whilst I was driving. Very blonde moments going on 🤣. I thoroughly recommend the book and audiobook, but people should be aware that, if listening in the car, other drivers may stare at you as though you are mad.

Fatal Reaction
This book grips you with the first paragraph and keeps you in its clutches all the way until the end. I loved hearing how the world as we know it is ending from the very beginning and how things progress so quickly within just a few days. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in this series!

Good start to series
When Flu decimates the world's population, this story tells some of the survivors' stories. The plot moves along at a good pace with interesting characters. The narrator did a decent job with the book and I am looking forward to finding out what happens next in the sequel book.
